Re: Best hotel for the price
Ants, roaches and lizards, oh my!…well it is the tropics and the cleanest and best kept rooms can have them. The lizards do help with the ants and roaches. In all seriousness I suggest looking for reviews mentioning a well kept property. Keep all food and snacks in ziplock bags and away from exterior walls or the ants will find them. If you give us an idea of your nightly budget and the time of year you plan to visit I’m sure you will get many suggestions for lodging. We all have our favorites.
Re: Best hotel for the price
I've always thought Country Country to be a bargain. Room cost (around $220/night) includes breakfast but even more importantly, that covers all taxes and fees as well.
Re: Best hotel for the price
We are looking at the middle of February. We always book at the last minute, in hopes of finding a good place to stay. We like the beach, and possibly not second floor as I just had knee replacement.
Re: Best hotel for the price
I recommend looking at Travellers, Cocoa LaPalm, and Negril Treehouse.
Re: Best hotel for the price
I'd tell you White Sands but you'd never find a room there, this late in the game... lol.

:eagerness: What this person said. Give them a call or email, websites aren't always up to date.
Re: Best hotel for the price
Ditto what others have said, one thing about Negril...book early. Already booked again for October!
Re: Best hotel for the price
I can definitely recommend Travellers. Went last year and already booked to return this year
Re: Best hotel for the price
They still do not have mesh (screen) on all their windows FYI ask! Nurse Beth
Re: Best hotel for the price
You have to take those reviews with a grain of salt sometimes. It's the tropics so if you leave food sitting out then you're going to get ants. The occasional lizard can always get in. Some of the properties have got a little run down. I'd avoid Jamaica Tamboo for instance. Negril Beach Club Condos, Travellers, Legends, and Kuyaba are all reasonably priced beach properties that are kept up.
Re: Best hotel for the price
Our go to place is Idle Awhile Beach. It's not the cheapest by far, but we always enjoy the property and staff. So for us that makes it a good value for the cost.
I'm a true believer in you get what you pay for. You can find something at all levels that are worth the cost..
Re: Best hotel for the price
Going back for the first time since Covid. At least once a year since 2000. From Savage,Mn
Re: Best hotel for the price
Idle Awhile is by far the “classiest” on 7 mile. Needs some updating for sure but best spot and shabby chic. Great service there. We’ve stayed at beach and cliff properties with and without kids.
Re: Best hotel for the price
Lots of alternatives for the BEST priced hotels but some of them have turned into real dumps.
For the BEST hotels on the beach for the price imo: Coco La Palm and Charela Inn. Idle Awhile, aint never been there, they tell me its nice.
Re: Best hotel for the price
Hands down in my opinion it's White Sands. Best room for the money!
Re: Best hotel for the price
I've been going down for many years and have stayed at all different digs from tents to high end but my favorite spot on the beach is Charela Inn. For several different reasons. It is in my opinion one of the nicest spots on Long Bay as far their beachfront goes. I came across promotional material which said it was originally built in 1975. The footprint has grown considerably over the past 48 years which has only improved the property. Their restaurant serves some of the best cuisine in Negril and they used to have entertainment several nights a week. The bang for the buck is pretty darn good there. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for!!
Re: Best hotel for the price
Every time we walk by Charela Inn we talk about how nice it looks. Their beach area is always so neat and looks so relaxing. We haven't stayed there yet but hope to on a future visit.
Re: Best hotel for the price
In the past twelve months I have stayed at Coco La Palm and White Sands. Both are very well kept properties. IMHO Coco has the edge in quality, especially the Restaurant, but is a bit more expensive.
Waiting until the last minute to book a room can be difficult towards the end of February (busy season). You may have few options on the beach.
Re: Best hotel for the price
Jaherring,
Next time you are in Negril go and visit the property and say Hello. It's a local family owned business that is very involved with the well being of Negril. Very nice people!!
Re: Best hotel for the price
We have stayed at CCLP, Idle Awhile, Charela Inn and White Sands in the past few years. The original posted was asking about the best hotel for the price. Again, for the price I have to say White Sands. The other three might be "better" but at a higher cost!
Re: Best hotel for the price
I've stayed clear of the Charela Inn since they kept my down payment, during covid, without any form of compensation (while White Sands just held my deposit til I could eventually make it down another time).
Re: Best hotel for the price
I have stayed at all three, and I concur.
