Decided to switch hotels and wondering if I made a mistake. Originally booked a Rondel. But the pool at Charela seems more spacious and private and I like the idea of live entertainment. Hopefully the food is good because I did the breakfast and dinner meal plan. Anyone have experience with this hotel? We booked a family unit with bunk beds.

Phew! I was so worried. Assuming my girls (6 and 8) will be fine. Geez, when I joined this group they were3 and 5 lol.
Every time we walk by Charela we say that one day we want to stay there. It always looks so nice! We love the beach area with the shade! Enjoy! :cool-new:
We loved our stay at Charela. We had the suite overlooking the dining room which gave us a birds eye view of the shows. Most of the food is farm-to-table and they have their own bakery. The chocolate croissants are delicious, but they are not available every day. If I'm not mistaken, they also make their own wine, but I'm not a wine drinker so I might be remembering it wrong. I think you'll love the resort!

Charela Inn has the best breakfast in Negril. Pre-Covid Lisa took me there for my birthday breakfast. Callaloo and Cheese omelet with hot sauce.... oh man....
Good to know because I purchased the breakfast and dinner plan which was actually not unreasonable. I love callaloo omlettes! Our family unit overlooks the pool area I believe.Quote:

All the family rooms face the courtyard/pool area, (which is lovely).
You'll enjoy your meals at Charela, as you order off a menu (never a buffet).
If you feel it was good value, you won't be disappointed.
The only problem you may incur is, once you've stayed at Charela, it may be difficult to stay anywhere else.
Charela has incredible food at very reasonable prices. I try to get there for dinner at least twice per trip. Live music two nights a week. Highly professional service. (Rob, i prefer Coco La Palm's breakfast)Quote:

Just called them to ask some questions. Woman seemed annoyed. Not friendly. Maybe better in person lol. It’s fine. I’m used to it! Everyone hates me lol.
This seems very uncharacteristic for Charela. They have always been most courteous in all my dealings with them. Try emailing your questions. They are usually very good about answering promptly. My experience has been that their staff and front desk are almost old-school Jamaica respectful to their guests.

In my opinion the restaurant is actually one of the best on the beach, especially on live music nights. You have to go to the west end to find any more upscale options.
Sounds awesome. Looks like the rooms are pretty basic but clean and comfortable with a balcony or patio overlooking the pool. Can’t wait.
You won't be disappointed. Best beach on the strip. Great breakfasts, great lunches, great selection and service is also pretty darn good
