Cold front from the States bringing rough seas. No storm, just a gift from Florida!

The waves at Rick's Cafe are higher than the highest diving platform. Yet there is still a lot of blue sky.

I'm not sure if the road out beside Sunshine Plaza will survive much longer. Seawall has collapsed in one spot already not far from where the roadway collapsed a few months ago. That road might become impassable soon.
Re: Blustery day at the beach
Dang! Our room got cancelled at Tensing Pen because it got flooded. Luckily Idle Awhile could accommodate but we had to transfer to Ocean Cliffs for tomorrow and Thursday, hoping the road at Sunshine holds up for everyone. Hope everyone on the cliffs is doing ok and people are safe!

Ripstar,
On the West End and everything is fine. The sound of the waves about 3/4 mile away woke my dogs up about 4;30am. It was unusual so we stayed up listening to Mother Nature doing her thing.
The dogs settled down and all was good.
The Sunshine Village Plaza road is another story.
Re: Blustery day at the beach
Glad everything is good there Rob! Love the crashing waves when everyone is safe and sound. Hoping we can get by Sunshine tomorrow to Ocean Cliffs (first time staying there), can't wait to see our Jamaican friends. Thanks a lot for the update.

Rob with all the years living in Jamaica have you seen this much seaweed?

Yes, it's nature's way of both cleaning the sea and creating more beach!
It will be buried or hauled off. Burying it is the best solution as it is closest to the way nature handles it.

What do you hear about the drive from MBJ? Are the drivers avoiding Lucea?
Re: Blustery day at the beach
And I thought it was rough seas back in Mid-December when I was there. Wow!

That was just the Christmas breeze! This was a strong cold front coming down from the US.
Re: Blustery day at the beach
Some years ago we flew in just ahead of a front that dropped the temp at home in New Orleans to 15 degrees. We woke up at Catcha the next morning and thought it was very pleasant. All the locals had broken out their long sleeves and complained they were "freezing, mon!"
