Continuation of my Trip Report Mar 25-30, 2025
Today, Tuesday Mar 25 is day 8 in Negril. I've visited Negril many times since my first introduction to this beach town in 1988. A huge group of us stayed on beach road, around Mom's Place / Bar B Barns, until the mid 90's when we discovered Falcon Cottages (near Canoe Beach Bar area). In early 2000 ish Mr. Prince sold the place. The new owners made it into a Boutique Hotel. I not sure the place is currently in operation.
Today is my day to walk from Kenny's Italian Cafe beach road to the West End.I stopped in at Corner Bar for a cold beer (400J). Too bad there was a local female hanging around the bar who seemed messed up on more than weed, who was very demanding I give her money.
I stopped in at Sunshine Village to check out the plaza (Note on Friday evenings they have a live band play). Its nice to see they finally built a sidewalk so you can safely walk around the corner to continue on One Love Drive.
Notice how nice the Negril Primary School Cove values are displayed to encourage the students. There is a new bar with picnic tables under an open roof set up just before Chicken Lavish. I enjoyed a cold beer (500J) and a delicious plate of Sweet & Sour Chicken at Chicken Lavish while the rain came down. This restaurant is still under some renovations from Hurricane Beryl (July 2024).
The Blue Castle looks closed, and I think I heard it is. New Moon Cottages has a new look... blue paint.

On Wednesday March 26, I took a walk up to the HI Lo grocery store, at its new location on beach road. Apparently its been here for afew years now. They have a nice selection of foreign beer, and coolers.
The sunset never disappoints. Here I am at Drifters catching the sun setting at 6:24-6:25pm. Red Stripe at Drifters are 600J, Heniken are 800J. If you pay with Credit card, a 5% fee is added.
At 11:30pm Roots Bamboo had some live music. Enjoyed by a nice crowd.

Thursday March 27 - The days are passing by so I decided to head to Alfreds to enjoy the lounge chair and a nice swim. A local musician came by to entertain. I also visited a new bar (at least new to me) the Flamingo bar. Red Strips are 400J, and Heineken are 500J :)
By 2:30pm the clouds arrived. I learned there was an accident on the bridge near the round-a-bout which slowed up traffic. Later I took a local taxi up the cliff side to.. I don't recall if this was Xtaba, and or another place. You can tell me. Thanks

Friday March 28 - my last Friday here. I pick Bourban Beach to catch some sun and a swim around noon. Red Stripes are 500J. Last year at this time they were 250J. Thats a 100% increase. I noticed that stores are charging 30J for the bottle deposit as well. Apparently you can bring in the empties and get your deposit at the local grocgery stores. I never tried.
Local police now have invested in four wheel quad bikes for the officers. I spoke with one officer, and I think he said they have had them now for afew years.
Friday afternoon and its time for live music at Drifters. The Manager/Owner of Drifters performed!! Excellent show. One female singer gave me her business card. She does a nice job as well.
At Drifters, a shot of Hennessy is 2000J, and a shot of Canadian Club Rye Whiskey 1600J. I took a walk across the street to a hidden gem called Keney's Chinese Restaurant on Hidden Paradise Property. They have a nice outdoor lounge overlooking the street. A Deluxe Rum is $5USD.

Stoners6, Thank you and you're very welcome. I like to post giving details, cause when I look back I can see the change if any. By the way, I'm live here in Manitoba too. Cheers

I was thinking of writing a report for my trip in Feb but you essentially covered the same ground.. :biggrin-new:
If you had mentioned LTU and Vinny's it would have been pretty much identical (even your stop at the Flamingle was right in front of Caribbean Delight, where I stayed)!
You had much better pics though!

Love the pics and the info CallMe2. Those last sunset photos are classic Negril sunset. Absolutely love it. Thanks so much. I love home but I miss Negril a week after leaving. Starting to warm up here in Winnipeg but you cannot replace the vibe, smells and sights of Negril/Jamaica.

Saturday March 29. My last full day in Jamaica. Time for an early morning walk on the beach. I notice the sand is coming back nicely, and the water is clear and calm. Footprints Hotel is under construction.... Looks fabulous!!
By noon, its time for some healthy oatmeal porridge and a Blue Mountain coffee.
Then an afternoon Cold Red Strip at Bourban beach.

Sunday March 30. By 8:30am, I'm waiting for the Juta bus to pick me up and head to MBJ for $30USD. We made it to the airport is just over 1 hour ( Sunday is a quieter day on the road and we only had one stop to pick up some folks at Riu.
I'll have to remember next time to order a nice lunch from a Negril restaurant and support them verse the MBJ airport, cause MBJ has become crazy pricy. $7USD for a Red Strip, and I paid $32USD for a half Jerk Chicken lunch with a plastic fork.

Since covid 19, most Caribbean & Canadian airports have increased their taxes to enter their country. Seems like they just making up new ones as they go.

callme2,
About what one would pay at JFK in NYC. It shouldn't surprise you as it appears that the costs in JA are on about a par with the USA. I can't speak for Canada but I'm sure things aren't cheap there either.
