-
Thanks for the pics...brings back memories of how lovely the beach was back then...
-
I remember that view by Crystal Waters well, spent much time in that area by Country Country and Tree House in the mid 80's... Runaways would be the first bar/restaurant in that area that would today be occupied by Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville...

Thanks for the trip back down memory lane..My first time to Jam and Negril was 1983-as young teenager working in a travel agency-got to go for free..That first trip sealed -the- deal so they say and the rest is now history.(LOL). Hard to believe what "progress" has done in regards to the landscape in Negril and esp. the beach...So it goes...
-
"memory lane" .. I was thinking the same thing! Thanks so much for sharing - good times!
-
Farmer, I loved your pics(as well as captaid's) so much it promted me to start the ****vintage Jamaican photos**** thread. If you can, you may want to post your pics there also, or post some other older pics there. You and your wife look so happy on your honeymoon :) Looking forward to more if you have any!

We decided to take a "day trip" to Port Antonio
Our house maid was horrified that we would make that journey in one day
and packed food for us.We rented a car for our trip and were going to stop at
Dunns River Falls as well and do the raft trip in Portie.I looked at the map and saw the island was around 200 miles long
"unfortunatly that was as the crow flies .We left at 5 am knowing we would need the whole day
we did the walk up Dunns River Falls and headed to portie.Wow the switchbacks going up Attachment 7379Attachment 7380Attachment 7381Attachment 7382Attachment 7383
some of the roads following banana trucks bellowing diesel smoke was unnerving.
We arrived to be the last trip down the river as it would be dark when we finished.
Beers were served and markets were open as we went down river it was very romantic
We got back to the car just as it was getting dark, and I thought holy @@@@ what did I get my new wife
and I into with a drive back to Negril:rolleyes:We finally got back @ 5 the next morning after a crazy trip @ night going home.
The roads were in very bad shape back then!

Re: 1983 honeymoon pics
Spectacular pictures that make me very jealous I wasn't smart enough to get to JA years ago (don't know if I could have afforded it quite frankly). It wouldn't have been in the 70s or 80s as that was my growing up time. Sadly, I'm only one trip in and all I can do is try to figure out how to get back over and over again! It just would have been nice to see it the way it was .... Would love to see more pics! :)

Re: 1983 honeymoon pics
Never get tired of looking at the old pictures, too bad it took us so long to find Crystal Waters.
