Its been a few yrs since my last trip to Ja. Does anyone know if Donnovon is still the bartender?

No, sadly. Unfortunately Donovan is no longer there.....but I have been trying to determine where he is these days, does anyone know?

We loved our times and talks with Donovan at the bar over the years. He is a great guy and we would love to find him if he is at another location

He was our favorite at Xtabi and it broke our heart when we heard he was no longer there.
We went back again in October just hoping maybe he would be back but he wasn't. However, if he is somewhere else happy and doing well, I am happy....I just want to know where so we can go visit our friend again.....maybe someone on here will know.

Last time I chatted with Donovan he was at Moon Dance Cliffs! Other info indicates he may be around Coco LaPalm, but I haven't asked him about that yet, so not sure! My sister and I were just discussing how strange it will be to not have him at Xtabi this year :(

have known him 20+ years, most at xtabi....sure not gonna be the same there with out him. i will track him down and report when i get home. might even take some pics this time. been some 30 plus times with no pics !!

This is some VERY disturbing news -- I think he might have been my favorite bartender in all of Negril. I used to have to implore him not to put too much overproof in my dirty bananas, especially during day-time hours, lol ..... Please tell me Omar is still at Xtabi, at least!

The atmosphere at Xtabi felt very different this year, only a few of the old staff were there and there was alot of yelling at the workers going on within the hearing of the guests. The bar was very slow and the staff seemed tense instead of the old friendly way - very different. KIngsley was there and was his usual smiling self and some of the housekeeping staff were the same, otherwise alot of new faces. Understandably, nobody willing to say where Donovan is now when we asked.

Don't want to sound like I was breaking bad on Xtabi - it will still be our place next December as we love it, but we spent more money at other bars and restaurants this last trip because of the atmosphere.

Plongdin, I know what you mean, we sort of picked up on that too, sad.
It is still and probably always will be one of our favorite hangs, good drinks, great view...just love the place.....but the vibe is definitely different and without our favorite bartender Donovan, it just wont be our VERY Favorite place anymore....sad but things do change
BUT I would LOVE to find him so if anyone does hear or see where he is, please share. He is a great guy and I hope great things for him.

Gerryg, Omar is still there....he served us breakfast twice on our trip in October....Omar is also a great guy. We mentioned to him that we enjoyed his music video and he smiled.

I've never meet Donavan, but I did meet Omar last year on my solo May 2011 trip and he really showed me a good time. The view there for breakfast was really nice and the food was great! I will be going again this may 2012 and really hope to see Omar again he really made my trip fun. I do remembering that the owners being really nice. Sorry to read about the tension there with the employees. I"m still looking frwd in eating there on my upcoming trip.

Big "D" gone. Imfo is right on sometimes he is out pass the lighthouse.... Moondance cliffs... George, Omar are still at Xtabi.. Xtabi Resorts has been there for the start of Negril with a great bar, and great food. I have learned that that's about the only thing that has not changed. How are you doing ?? TURBO ??

We only saw George this week. Dinner at Xtabi last night was great, as usual. Tam had the fresh grouper, specially blackened for her, and I had the "B" Lobster Thermidor. Thank goodness the food hasn't changed!!!

It is cold enough to go to Jamaica now. We are going down to 30 tonight..... 80 yesterday.... Then back up to 70 this weekend.. Are you still at the same place ??

no turbo:( amy got a hotrod A6 Quattro, with the weather around here makes more sense. still have a crapload of other toys tho. will be nice to see omar...i remember his first day....long before those gigantic earings !!! funny watching the youth grow up. Lobster Thermador aka Byron and i will track down donovan. i went down last feb without amy for toots and mule at negril escape and had a blast, had breakfast with toots and chatted the changes of westend in 30 years....god its been that long. i miss ocean edge and all those kaiser shows...man the cliffs rocked. let me know your dates in feb, maybe i can make it and talk money cologne aka kenny into a birtday bash at maurices. funny u mentioned lowell, been grovin all summer on the farm to him, imagine what that band could of been.

Greets, all! My girlfriend, Merry and I have been here since Dec. 20th; absolutely love this place and this town.

Omar and his huge earrings and his massive smile are still here. Nighttime security guy Omar still here and chats us up every night. Awesome people here.

Gonna have to have a boardies night in the bar sometime soon, meet you all who are here now. We are here until Jan. 14th; diving, motorcycling, chilling, and grooving the island's feel.

Great news donovan fans. He is at Coco la palm based on my conversation with him yesterday. Omar is still at Xtabi. Coco la palm is lucky to have him.
