I'm probably dating myself with this query but do any of the old Negril hands recall the Yacht Club?
I remember Chuck (Mgr? Owner?), Donna (his Jamaican G/F), Delroy (bartender) and Mr. Singh (Security).
Does anyone else remember these guys?

It was a great place to hang out in '81.They had the best curried lobster.
Hoho!
Stuart you go back way farther than me.
Delroy and Donna probably weren't even teens then.
I was there in 1981.Spent seven weeks there that year. Two weeks in May and five weeks in November for our honeymoon.Stayed at Tigress,$10 per person per day.Hung out at the Yacht Club lots.Good food and drinks and party every night. This year will be our 30th anniversary. We are staying at the Seastar Inn this time.
Stuart congrats on 30!
We'll be at the Seastar on the 15th watching the Packers (my G/F is a fan - I'm from Minnesota originally so I don't care so much).
If I see you there I'll get you an anniversary drink!
Johnny the bartender too. He took the kids and I and RJ to Mayfield Falls around 2000.
I spent a weekend there in 1973 or 1974 I think.
Hey Captain,
Any gravity issues?
I remember them building it in 73. I was thinking to myself then that "there is a Wharf Club with no wharf and now a Yacht Club with no Yachts in sight, these Jamaicans are something else".
I remember the only Public Phone was outside the Yacht club ( long before cell phones appeared) and to confirm your return flight you had to go there with sufficient change in JA to get a call thru to Sangster Airport to confirm your seat. And sometimes wait in line to use the phone. Another time the call would not go through since the coin box had not neen emptied in so long , there was no room for more coins !Frantic voice would come on the line and say " No Call today - The box is full - the box is full!! Restaurant was pretty good in the day too - Jamaican & Chinese Menu.
I remember that phone from the late 70's and it was a real pain. On our first trip to Jamaica we also stayed at the Tigress. We were too timid to go into the Yacht Club because we thought it was an actual club and we were not members. I do recall they had a big satellite dish and we watched a little TV through the window.
We were pretty dumb that trip, but we learned fast during the many that have followed.
Respect,
Col. Andy & "Wildcat" Pam

Fun trip, this one was.
I saw Chuck last year I think. His love, the Club, is gone but he is with friends still in Negril last I heard. It was the hottest spot around in the 70s and had electricitity. Yah, Mon!!
I was there in 74 with my friends. we stayed at negrillo cottages nearby and had a rental car from mo bay as there was no transport to negril in those days.
The manager was Barry and we also went to a beach bar run by Hans and Eleanor called the something beach club which was fantastic.
In 73 I stayed a Mr Deans Cottages and the cook was Erica who now has her own place as many of you know..
We had to drive to Sav to find a phone to reconfirm our flights and ther was no electric west of tigress.
In 74 we stayed a few nights in a place that became Chicken Lavish.
And then there was a Jamaican gal named May.........
Billy's Flamingo Squash and Penny had the souvenir shop anf the early eightys.
Yes! The Sands Club.
Eleanor was the best and looked after us.
One night she gave us a bottle of whisky.
Had a blast.
I remember she drank vodka and water and Hans was always 3 sheets.
Any idea what happened to them?
Chuck e-mailed me a couple years back.
08?
He was still in Jamaica at the time.
I've lost touch since then.
That' the NYC I yearn for. How did you find a photo so fast?
Mi loved all dem guys. Chuck built himself a little house in Red Ground. Hope people will gather there again. Such wonderful memories.
was Chuck the big fellow, White guy, first met in 75
Remember the place well, loved that seedy dive.
There in 2000, 2001 I think... crazy place! And the Pickled Parrot, ya'll remember that one?
I was staying across from Pickled Parrot when it got seized by the government, they took everything, ashtrays, dishes, everything.I remember the owner would sit and chainsmoke all day, too bad beautiful place.
Spent some time there in it's declining years, hope someone has enough money to bring it back
I have a pic of me & Pirate in the YC for the Boardie Meet in either 2000 or 2001, will post tonight when I get home. At work now...
Chuck wasn't big 5-10 (at the most) and slim even wiry.
I'd post a NYC pic but I think my ex got the old Jamaica pix.
YIKES so the guvment seized it (Pickled Parrot), wondered what happened to it, last time I was in JA in 2009 ppls said it was closed ... I loved the carved birds they had in there, and the hamburgers were delicious :) Okey here is the pic of me & Pirate at the "meeting of the Board" in 2000 ... WOW was that ever a blow out, people from all over came for it. I still have the Negril.com shirt :)

Probably found on the Net at some time or other. I have a ton of pics that never got scanned from trips in 2000 and 2001, one of these days I'll get busy with that, lots of old Negril friends and places and memories in those pics
