I think we counted one night at RIU just for fun, and I consumed 17 rum-n-diet cokes -- wasn't even that buzzed!
Is that an official record, or has someone topped me???

I don't know who holds the record on the board but I do know about the guy who holds the Negril record. He did it at T water....too bad it killed him......
was someone watering down the rum? unless they were teeny tiny cups that sounds like a toxic amount of rum and caffeine. I don't count my drinks and generally mix my own--but I think the thing that has gotten me in trouble before is that the more drinks I have, the stronger I make them. And if overproof is in the equation--it can be a dangerous operation.
Depends on your definition of "one night" ............... we boaters have a saying "You can't say you drank all day unless you started first thing in the morning"
ugh. can't imagine chugging overproof, scary! I have mixed it pretty strong before--even sometimes just with water when I run out of mixer but I can't even take one teeny sip straight--I tried once and will never attempt it again. In fact these days I tend to avoid it altogether.
He was already drunk when this..... testosterone / Texas / Ganga brainstorm occurred to the boy
I drink proof rum and water most of the time in Ja........
I worked for Wray and Nephew and clear rum is the true rum.......ask the old guys...but chug it from a Q???? Man mad you know...
who died? what happened?
The potential winner probably won't remember how many drinks he had.
Capt,
What year was this?
1971 - 1973...Hard to remember the year. Errol was the bartender. Lionel was his relief guy......
I think Errol is gone but Lionel is still alive but has severe diabetes ...I think
Mr. Siegre is long gone but there are people on the beach who know the story.....
I'll bet Joy Reynolds knows it...
No this is not a per person thing but last year one afternoon at the pool between about 10 of us we managed 3 bottles of appletons, a couple six packs of red stripes and a 1/2 bottle of knob creek.
timm
Glennz(Capt Red Stripe) probably holds the record for most Red Stripe Beers in Negril in one day/night........
someone will have to ask him what is the most he has drank in day........
I've heard over a case and then some on more than one occasion.........
and if Badnaz(nice lady) ever offers to have a drinking contest with you........run like hell.......lol.....just ask Dale
Cool Runnings, Marko
In Negril my drink of choice are girly drinks and if the bartender making them knows you and you are a solo traveling female, it won't be much for numbers. At Yellowbird I had 5 made by a woman and wasn't even happy floaty, at Xtabi i have 1.5 made by the boys and start walking crooked, 5 at Xtabi = passed out in a cave if in a couple hour period. At Oceanview 2.5 by the boys get me crooked the 5 like yellowbird I would fall in the sea to never be found. I know my drinks are generally with significant amounts of overproof not equal to drinking a beer.
The night of Sea Star last trip I know I had 13 bottles of Red Stripe during the webcast. But I think I sweated off 10 just with all the dancing. After a day of Dirty Bananas and Rum Punch which I sweated, swam , and napped off by Sea Star time.
However I would never want this title. As grown adults who counts really I don't know anyone here near 21 Years old. Don't you just drink socially? If it's a contest lets try eating hot dogs, much better for the liver and our bodies which we are all old enough to be thankful we still have functional and we do need to be thankful. I only know numbers because I kept a daily expense journal to find what I needed to correct for future trips( this being the needed change lol) never would i for a contest or bragging purpose. I think we are all too old for that.
To each there own but just my 2 cents and I am climbing off my red stripe box now.
My personal best is 2 beers
I have had some pretty good nightys in Negril, but never kept track of how many. Only thing I know in the morning is that it was too many!
Steve(rip), a previous owner of the old Pirate's Cave Bar(cliff-side from Joseph's Cave Bar) was the heaviest drinker I ever met in Negril until he met a friend of minehttp://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...ointhought.jpg
The notorious Simo, in his day, could out drink almost any human alive.
I don't like to drink to the point of losing control....so my preference is to partake in a little herb and mix in a few cocktails/beers throughout the day. I like to have that nice, even buzz and don't like to get really drunk. Hangovers suck!!
I met a guy from Minnesota who called himself "Skippy", used to stay at the BarbBBarn, said he had the record @ 56 Red Stripes in one day.
Beer - Glenzee gets my vote.
Over Proof - Badnaz definitely! As Marko mentioned, ask Dale about the morning after..... or was it the moring after that one???
AI Rum and cokes - I think 17 AI Rum & Cokes = One Over Proof, Tap Water, Ice and Lime from Seastar!!! Done both so I'm pretty sure this is an accurate measure!
mi took a newbie to Negril and brought her to one of the old webcasts at the Boat Bar.........
she had been drinking before the webcast and proceeded to pound down 9 appletons and pepsi's...
after that wi went back to Coral Seas Beach(Sunset on the Beach) for happy hour........
and she had at least another dozen meyers and pepsi's up till dinner.....
after dinner she had to have another dozen rum and cokes up till midnight........
then she finally passed out.......
so I know she had over three dozen drinks that day........it was like she was drinking wata...
you think you know somebody but you really don't till they are in another environment.....
I've still never seen anyone ever drink like that in Negril.........
though Capt Red Stripe (Glenzz) is the legendary beer drinker in Negril for sure.......
Cool Runnings, Marko
Marko, that is quite an accomplishment by your lady friend.
I presume this contest is for a 24 hour period only. There was one trip that I was up for approximately 60+ hours and only God and the various bartenders know how much I consumed!!! LOL
I was smoking Craven A's and couldn't get to sleep!!! Must be something in those cigs????
those bartenders must see some crazy stuff. Plenty of tales to tell, I am sure. I wonder if bartenders ever 86 people in Negril.
Irie, oh YES! As a matter of fact; I have been 86'd a few times!!!!! LOL
Those stories never made it into the trip reports!!!
ha ha VVHT, love it! Full confession:) I have 86ed myself to my room fairly often in Negril (I guess there comes a point when I know I need to take cover) and have been embarassed more than once after too much rum in the sun. But I have never been asked to leave or refused service. Um I think some establishments were pretty patient with me.
News Update for Badnaz**
Badnaz was soundly defeated last August in an OverProof shot contest at Sunbeach by Robert. Badnaz put up a valiant effort in attempt to retain her self proclaimed and much heralded title as "The Rum Queen" or "Devil Woman" (according to Dale). When the smoke cleared a staggering, beligerent Badnaz tallied 6 OP shots to Roberts 7. This was in less than 10 minutes. Robert walked away with the belt while Badnaz was screaming rematch. Unfortunately this was witnessed by many that know us.
At the rematch just 6 weeks later once again Badnaz was defeated Robert only this time 8 shots to 5 -- Robert boasted that he was now a force to be reckoned with and once again Badnaz became belligerent and shamefully fell off her seat. Patrick, Neil, and a host of new spectators cheered on this event with great fanfare.
Which brings us to the 3rd and final bout in less than 3 weeks. Once again Badnaz swears vengance and that she will reclaim her title. Look for upcoming coverage in the Gleaner and we are working a deal to have power 106 cover the match.
Jamb :)
Dear Lord, has nobody heard of death due to alcohol poisoning? Binge drinking shots of overproof......omg.......just make sure you pass out FACE DOWN. You don't want to wake up dead with your lungs full of vomit...
RR :) thanks for the info , gees never thought of that before. I promise I will try to land face up after I reclaim my title.
Irie -- Beth/Badnaz
FACE DOWN!!!!! LOL. You don't want to vomit while passed out on your back....its usually fatal!
Thanks again RR :) how did I ever make it to 49 w/out you?
LOL/Beth/Badnaz
Hope to see you make 49 more years!
if these are adults....the kids must be a "hoot"
This thread is scaring the crap outta me. Please be careful .... still lots of fun to be had without being sick, poisoned or worse.
everyone has to be the "best" at something, contest drinking wasn't my forte even in school..now its expensive, dangerous, and kinna silly especially for adults, be hey that's what its all about right????
each to their own....and I will defend your right to be yourself
