Negril 1st time- new boardies- just saying hi

Hi everyone!! I'm Al and the wife is Dar.

The wife and I are heading to Negril Jan 30 - Feb 14. I just wanted to introduce ourselves to all you cool people on the board. We have been travelling for years but this is our first time in Jamaica. After reading this board I feel the passion most of you have for Negril and the people.

Although we dont get to excited anymore about our vacation I must admit that you people have made us really look forward to our new adventure.

We are in our late 40's, kids grown n gone, Canadian I'm from Newfoundland and Dar Ontario- we live 1.5 hr north of Toronto in a small town and really enjoy the slow pace. Partiers from way back we hope to indulge in everthing Negril has to offer and meet as many as the fellow boardies as possible. The Fun Holiday Beach resort is our port of call for 2 weeks but I expect we will be there only to sleep and refresh.

I've included a few pics of us incase you are there and see us on the beach or in a bar- please come and introduce yourselves to us.

Thanks Catz--I enjoy the bike very much- we always find the best in wherever we go and if Negril is half a good as these posts suggests than I am sure will have a ball.

Yes that is a golf bubba mug- I bring one every year and leave it with my favorite bartender- this year its a football bubba mug- my 1st drink will be a dirty banana with you in mind.

Dash-- we newfies fit in anywhere there is booze-lol- newfies are well known for their powefull drink, dark rum, called "Newfie Screech"- it is actually Jamaician rum bottled in Newfoundland so at the very least I will get a taste of home.
We are very low maintenance tourists and make the best of our time south.

Marley- Thanks bud- we are planning on being at the web casts--I emailed about the love bus for Feb 8th but have not heard back- doesnt matter - if i have to i'll run behind the bus just for the party lol we are looking forward to the Crawl-

Patty- Thanks for the info - we have planned an over night with Debby at the Moonlight Seaside resort- her and I have a mutual friend from hamilton ont where she is from- looking forward to that-- ya never know i may even jump lol
I will definetly post on here after i get back-

Rob n Lisa- we look forward to meeting up with you's- maybe you can join us on the love bus Feb 8th- but at least we will have a beer or 20- i have a brother in peterbourgh

We have fun where ever we go and I am expecting Negril to live up to the expectations my fellow boardies talk about. Like I was saying - we are very low maintenance tourists and love a good time with down to earth people and if we're not having fun one place we just simply move on to another.

Since you say you have grown bored with your other vacations,Negril will be like a new mistress and after your vacation you will feel like having a cigarette......Wink.

Al/Dar, rent a bike if you get chance. It is a fun way to go to ys falls.You know, its always better out of the "cage". Sunday's seem to have a little less traffic in the countryside. Enjoy your self brother.

I will be at Rooms just down the beach around the same time as Rob and Lisa (again I'm excited) and have friends staying at Fun Holiday so i am sure we will meet........You are gonna love Negril my name is Arlene

Nice to meet you - we are new to the board too but not new to Negril. I think you will love it - it is so chill. We stay on the cliffs but plan on walking the beach one day so if we see you we will stop and say Hi!

We started going in May a couple of years ago. With global warming, Winter isn't as inspiring as it used to be. It's a balmy 8F (-12C) this morning!

Its about -50 in Saskatchewan with the wind chill today....straight up -30C without....that's inspiring the hell out of me to get on a plane! One of our friends is leaving next Wednesday and I am thinking I should just join her! :)

Put down a beach blanket first. The beach sand is very fine and gets into all the nooks and crannies. Be careful!
