So being snoopy can be a good thing some days. I was looking for some stuff in my travel bucket and decided to take a look at my wife's and my passport today. Mine's good until 2014....my wife's on the other hand expires on February 6th, 2012!!!!!
Well guess who is out getting pics and rushing down to the passport office as we speak! :)
She can get it in as little as 24 hours so its not a big thing. Just glad I caught it today and not while we were in line at the airport! LOL!

Yeah technically you can travel from Canada to Jamaica without a passport....I just wouldn't recommend it! :)
I like mi passsport ..especially being from Windsor ..flying out of detroit ..saves a lot of time and money ..HATE the drive to and even worse from Toronto ...
There are not any direct flights from Detroit any more and I would rather drive to Toronto and fly on a Canadian airline anyway.
poolguy ..not a chance for this guy ..can't stand that drive down the 4 nothing 1 ..spirit has a quick 1 hour stopover in ft.laud/miami ..then off to mo bay ..flight leaves detroit 6:45 am arrives mo bay 12 noon .. 350.00 US ea ..checked bag and carry-on and taxes included ....
leave the car at home 60.00 ea way to metro including tolls .. someone else waiting/driving in a WARM vehicle.. priceless
I too prefer to travel from Detroit, my latest package for Feb rendered a rdtrip flight for about 298. inclu tx excl baggage though. What company takes you to/from Metro for 60 bucks each way. I get dropped off night before stay near the airport to avoid immigration hassles the day of and then get picked up by friends. I too would not do Toronto - too much weather and time in between us and them.
lee ..private message me and i'll fill you in ... can't stand T.O. ..hate the drive and the airport especially in february ..went to cuba for a couple weeks last year ..loved cuba ..but not this year ..and mostly fully in part to the trip to toronto AND back !! you can fly to cuba from windsor ..but only to veradero ..and that place is not my cup of tea ..reminds me too much of cancun

We are actually pretty lucky considering Regina is a small city in the grand terms of things. WestJet does a direct flight out of Regina that leaves at 12:05am on Thursdays so you arrive on the landing strip at about 6:30am in Montego Bay. Not too shabby. The nice thing about living in Regina is that no one who lives in the city is more that 20 minutes from the airport. If I drive bristkly from my house I can be there in about 10 minutes. The flights aren't that badly priced either considering the ease. We paid about 600 bucks after taxes and fees. You can get that flight right now for around 500 or so I have heard. Now that we have give up the all inclusive lifestyle and experience Negril as it should be we go for two weeks for the price of what it would have cost one of us for a single week at the RIU. The NBCC's may not be the ritz but it has everything we need as well as Jamaican Karaoke next door at Travellers on Fridays and Saturdays. My wife is a professional actress and singer so she likes to go and impress the locals with her big voice! :)
Crusher; I'm sure interested on how you made arrangements for only $600. Flying from S'toon, I wasn't able to get direct flight sunder $1,000 per person, return. Do you mean $600 each way? :)Quote:

If you go on the site right now you can leave Regina for 179 this thursday......Return is a bit more expensive but its 600 then you add the fees and taxes....
I see similar flights out of Saskatoon. However, they involve mutliple connections and on the way home. It's an overnighter in Toronto. I did that once and awore "nerver again"!!!!! :)
Although I absolutlely DETEST connections, and especially overnight layovers, the price is very attractive. Gonna have to consider that next reach.
I like the ease of flying out of Detroit but I really like to get the party started by heading to TO the day before and then its a free for all!
The Thursday Flight out of Regina is a Direct Flight on both legs of the journey. No connections, no BS.

I booked early to get the resort we wanted. Went with Sunwing. The other direct option at the time was Sunquest. There didn't seem to be much esle for direct options back then. Maybe I just missed the. Not sure.Quote:

Yeah if you are looking for bargains its always good to take a look at some flexible times. I absolutely love the direct from Regina. No BS at all.
flying Delta out of Detroit on Feb 4 at 10:20 am, nonstop to Montego Bay, land at 2:29 pm. Return 3:33 pm Sat Feb 11 - land in the frozen North at 7:45. Seems like very few nonstops anymore though, and I paid $598 a pop for them - ouch!
guirigay .. 598 for non-stop ..not cheap ...but not terrible .. considering extra expense of driving to and parking in toronto ..
dana ..spirit air has 'cheapest" flights from Detroit ..only one hour stopover in florida ..not bad .. and half the price ea compared to Toronto departures .. delta still flies direct ..but pretty big $$$ .... just the flight savings alone could go a long way in paying for a weeks rooms ..
Who knew you could be spoiled by living on the frozen prairies eh? :P
It works out to a little more than $700 each for direct return flights. Even if I change plans and eat the non-refunable deposits and fees I still have other obligations that I can't gracefully bypass. It's next time territory for me.Quote:
