i havent booked my feb triup yet either - i am curious to see what this thread turns up
I stayed at Xtabi superior rooms two years in a row
Just for reference, in all of my trips to Negril the only other place I have ever booked more than once is Catcha Falling Star (which is my all time favorite place on earth)
So yes, I love Xtabi, and though we may not stay there now, we definitely would stay there again (let's say if Catcha was booked) and we still visit them multiple times throughout each and every one of our trips.
If you get one of the top floor rooms like 15 or so, you can still catch a glimpse of the water from your balcony and still see a nice sunset.
The rooms are large, have a/c and are IMO one of the best values on the cliffs. Plus just a walk right across the street to the ocean, bar, restaurant. Can't beat it for location and value as far as I am concerned.
Go for it!
I've stayed in a superior garden room at Xtabi, but it was probably 12 years ago. I loved it. Clean rooms, beautiful grounds, good restaurant, gorgeous cliff area, great caves and a small shell beach entrance to the water. I'd be going back there this trip if it hadn't been so special for me w/ regards to my ex. Need to start some new memories with a great lady, I'll be staying at Home Sweet Home.
Use to stay at Xtabi quite a few times and generally in the same type of room you mentioned. Enjoyed it a lot...but the only down side was that the rooms only had a double bed. We find that a little hard to do now days...just not enough room, so use to a king or queen size bed. The up side, the bar was quite nice with some great snorkeling. Have a great birthday Captain!!
Love the Upper Gardenside Superior rooms at Xtabi - very peaceful and have everything we need at a great price. The only warning I would say is that it would be best to stay there before Seastar as the beds aren't as comfortable! I know room 15 has a Queen size bed and a great Housekeeper named Sheron - she treats us like a Queen and King every year!
My wife and I stayed at Xtabi in 05 and again in 07 and loved it both times. We are planning to stay there again in feb 2013.The rooms, grounds and pool are very nice and it had a great vibe. It's just a short walk to the bar/restaurant/ocean and many places nearby to eat, drink and chill. The caves and rock platforms are very cool also.

Absolutely and without a doubt the best meal I had on our trip was a Conch steak at Xtabi.
We had some great meals but that was hands down the best.
PS try to make Milton smile.
Can't count how many times we have stayed at Xtabi it always was great. We always get a garden superior room. Usually18,19 &20. AC,Tv, basic nice room everything always works, great value for the money nice location geat staff. Anyone should be happy staying at Xtabi.Lots of places close by. Have fun. Dan p.s. also real good food and drinks
Just booked three nights at the end of our reach this summer to Xtabi-- gardenside with AC. I couldn't beat the price and I have only heard wonderful things about the place. I will be asking for a second floor room, though, after reading this!
I love visiting Xtabi but to stay there might add up because it's hard to resist those $6 dirty bananas .... If you factor in the price of food (expensive and not over-sized portions) and drinks (and transpo if you want to go to different restaurants), you could be in for some sticker shock upon checkout .....
Hmm, is there a better option then, price-wise?
We bring a cooler on wheels (makes it easy to pull through the airport) and pack stuff in it that we are really planning on leaving in JA.. Buy beer at the Hi-Lo and get ice from the grounds keeper in the morning. That way your bar tab won't run so high. There are plenty of places to eat well within walking distance from Xtabi that are less expensive. We either give the cooler to someone or use to off-set our fee for the ride back to the airport.
Xtabi ROCKS!!! Awesome in every respect!!
Just Natural is next door and has great meals at incredible prices!
we have stayed there before on the ocean side, we will be arriving there again on the 17th, we have cottage 3 4 on the ocean side, we stayred there before and loved it, the week before we get to Xtabi we will be staying at the Rondel village on the beach which is another place we have came to love over the years have a great trip
cottage # 4 that is
We stayed in the gardenside superior rooms at Xtabi back in 08. If you go to my profile, the last 2 pictures in my 2008 album are of the room. I think there are also a few pictures from our balcony view. We had a wonderful time and thought the rooms were great. Very basic, but they were very clean.
Great idea, T & A. We always bring a soft cooler and buy stuff so our tab won't be that high, too. Is it easy to travel with the hard cooler?
Ya mon, no problem with the hard cooler(as long as it has wheels and a handle for pulling).
You just have make sure it's secure and they can open it and secure it again as it goes as checked luggage. The first year we duct taped it shut and put a half a roll in the cooler for them to tape it back up with. The second time I had a couple of one inch wide nylon straps that we used. When we got to JA it was ok but one of the straps had broke...So next time it's back to the duct tape. Oh, and you will more than likely have to go through the "declare" line as they will want to have a look inside, at least I had to:)
T&A
Beer ect. from the Chinyman is way cheaper than Hi-lo and they're both in the same neighborhood.
Two across from Scotia Bank, one up by Canoe & Sun Island outlet store ( also a very cheap place for souvenir T-shirts and that ilk).
Just a thought.
Yeah I would suggest everyone visit the Sun Island Outlet store before buying one t-shirt, bikini, beach bag or whatever. They have tonnes of stuff and are really cheap.
mi would book it mon.......another choice is Catcha Gardens........then Oasis........
between dem three you'd be in excellent shape.......
too bad about SeaStar..... mi stay at SeaStar Inn was awesome......once again......was sad to leave today
Cool Runnings, Marko

Rum-Pole...when you lead off with such a pretty lady the rest of the pics kind of pale...so yeah book it....Just saying!! :)
Those are nice pictures! I'll have to show the husband, he said he couldn't find enough online today to form an opinion!
If you're going with a garden room you'll still be facing the sea but you'll be across the road.
Considering all the fun you can have there, caves, sunning, swimming, cliff jumping, snorkeling, low cost eats and drink in the neighborhood, you can hardly go wrong and the Garden rooms are really bargain priced.
Crusher: I'll pass on your comment to Mrs. Peel. Hoho!
We're going with a garden room. I heard a second floor room is the best way to go?
