I didn't stay at Banana Shout but I did visit the grounds on my last trip.
I had just finished reading the book, so I was really curious.
One day I walked from Catcha falling star over to Banana shout to check it out.
The groundskeeper was so friendly, he gave me a tour of the place and showed me the little cave cove area.. It's very quaint there and really colorful. He also let me peek inside one of the rooms. I loved the furniture, it was all kinda funky in a cool way. The room was very spacious. (The Cabin right on the water) Nice hammock out front to chill on while taking in the view.
but I didn't see AC, looked like just an overhead fan.
I took pictures, but I'm not on my personal computer right now to post them.
I also met the current owners. Two really nice guys. (I think they're the owners - someone can correct me if I'm wrong) If I remember right he said that there is a minimum of a three day stay.
I would definitely stay there.
great place......as for AC??? Not needed...the breeze there is wonderful, particularly if you take the room noted.........
Thanks guys.. I'm thinking about staying there in April.
We have stayed at Banana Shout many times and it is our favourite place to stay in Negril. Milo and Marianne are great people and make you feel at home. Plug the groundskeeper is one of the sweetest people you could meet. Lots of privacy (4 cottages), location close to restaurants and grocery store.
The pictures say it all...
Awesome! Thinking about May not April because of the decrease in room rates. I can do without A/C, but I don't know if no TV will fly with my boyfriend. (sports channel you know) A man without a remote, what can I say !
agree with Craig....if he needs the TV you are better off somewhere else....Banana Shout is meant NOT to have TV....it is the serenity of it all.....need a TV? might as well stay at legends on the beach......or....you stay at BS and he stay there and you meet up for dinner.....
There are bars near Banana Shout that would have a TV to watch sports...Seastar Inn is close by and sure there are others..
I have a better idea, I stay at Banana Shout. He stays home in front of the TV... Problem solved!!!
Great idea Juli...
you can watch the people at Rick's for entertainment and the nude cruise usually goes by....is he willing to forgo the TV?
ya gotta have a tv
When Jim and I stayed we really enjoyed it. We stayed in the tree house. A little too close to the road because of the noise, but I really liked our stay. The first picture is the little cabin close to the sea. The others are of the tree house room.
No TV, no problem he says. Better to hang out with the locals with a cold one anyway. The question is " are you able to have your morning coffee in your nighty, glazing at the sea?" I think I'll keep him!
Banana Shout is a special place for us. We stayed there in '07 (after trying other cliff properties) for the first time and have never looked back. We have stayed there every year since then and have increased our stay each time. This year in April for 10 nights. As far as I'm concerned the best on the cliffs. No TV is a good thing and AC isn't needed. This place is super laid back and as long as you all aren't high maintenance A/I types you'll love it. Book it for a few nights like we did and you'll be addicted. Not a bad room on the property each having good points. Trip Advisor has some very truthful reviews online. Contact me if you have specific questions.
I do have to agree with the comment above about the treehouse...it is close to the raod and the noise is a pain...if you can,get the one near the water......it is perfect
We were surprised to hear just over a week ago that nobody was staying there. We tried to book a couple years ago and couldn't get a room we wanted.
Is there a bar on Banana Shout property? We are considering a stay there?
I agree that any of the rooms near the road at cliff side properties cab be too noisy. If you are in the ones close to the ocean, the waves help cover up all the beep beep, bark bark coming from the road.
Respect.
Bmsmith asks (Is there a bar on Banana Shout property? We are considering a stay there?)
No bar there BUT you have LTU Pub, Ricks, and Ivan's just a few steps (or a short swim) away.
mi would stay der if it was in mi budget..........great snorkeling and sunsets off of der.......
Milo da owner is a great guy and runs a very nice place.......
and with the establishments around der....it's tuff to beat......
Cool Runnings, Marko
just stay away from Leroy's chicken across the way and you will be fine
yes ask what his prices are on his meals before you order........
mi did get close to a half chicken of Brown Stew for dinner at $500J's which was awesome.......
though him wanted a lot more than that before wi decided on the $500J's........
age is taking it's toll on olde Leroy.......him been at da location for 14 years
mi thought Tayons had some of the best prices on meals on the West End Road......
Tayons also offers two different size meals for those that need more......lol
the smaller size Brown Stew Chicken was only $350J's......cheap mon

True enough about Leroy's. The lady first told me 1200 for a jerk chicken box. Get the price before you get the food.
We just got back from a stay at Catcha. We were in the Venus room which is right beside Banana Shout so we were checking out BS everyday. Cool looking place and not many people there during our stay. The barking dogs were bad this year but we enjoyed the rooster.
as I believe Marko knows, the issue has nothing to do with the price of the goods...msg me if you want the full details.....
