When we were in Negril last year we were disappointed that 23/7 was gone, the bar was empty with what appeared to be "squatters" hanging out. Is it gone forever? We spent many a wonderful afternoon sitting there watching the world. Any update?

23/7 is no more...
so sad, oh well, thanks for the update Rob
I loved that place, spent lots of days, nights and everything in between there....still haven't found my replacement spot! I remember reading about a cooler party (BYOB on ice) there recently, was that a legit event or just some folks getting together?
It's ending was the stuff of drama novels. Too bad. I also miss that spot. Will be looking for a replacement thi strip. Maybe Sun Beach, Tony's Hut or Boat Bar to name a few.
Have you read my novel (Sunset Negril)? Have you heard of 'The Horny Goat??' LOL :>)
I dropped by the old 23/7 establishment last nite - now the only thing that's left is the thatch roof and some stumps that used to support the benches (I loved those benches) - only sand remains.
Too bad - a very cool place to chill - and to write about.

semi:)
been two years since it has been closed.........
just a memory like Pickled Parrot, Pirates Cave, No Name, Red Snapper, Fair Flakes, Ocean Edge, Drumville Cove, T-Water, etc etc......
Cool Runnings, Marko
Places come and go in Jam all the time-very rare for one place to stay for a loooong time and esp.with the same owners...
Fair Flakes!!!!! Thanks for helping me remember that place :)
Well, 23/7 is filed in my mind like so many other things that have changed as I've changed, one of those things you remember so fondly that you used to do (what a list!) But my oh my I've spent wonderful afternoon there sipping on the rum punch. The last time we were there there was a pirate flag hanging from the college MY MOTHER WENT TO IN THE 30'S, the East Carolina University Pirates. Such a wonderful touch, so far from eastern North Carolina! RIP 23/7!
We never really liked the vibe at 23/7, that place just always felt a little "off" in our visits
Too bad.
Another one bites the dust.
I spent quite a few chilled afternoons there., No hassles
Good luck to all the ex proprieters.
Hope all the Pirates have found a new safe haven.

me too homebrewer.... never liked it much, always got some kinda skeezy vibe there.
and in the spirit of 'everything changes' .... before 23/7 was in 'that' spot, it was Irie Vibes, and that was my favorite place on the beach- i was sad to see THAT go and be replaced by this. so i don't feel any way that the grubby 23/7 bit the dust. i'm hopeful that someday a new place will open in that location, one that really does bring back the good vibes that used to be around that spot.
Before Irie Vibes it was the Pickled Parrot II, and before that it was the Red Snapper.... (grin)
yep, exactly - depending on what year one first enjoyed that particular spot - that's exactly why i don't think 23/7 was anything so super-special. Yeh, it was a nice bar, some really enjoyed it - but it was pretty much like all the others, (although not as good, imho) - and it was only the most recent, and very short-lived, in a LONG line of places in that spot.....
