There's an entire neighborhood behind Seastar Lane - you can walk through to Summerset Lane. I've driven from downtown to somewhere around the Lighthouse years ago without ever getting on the Main.
I only use that path when I park on the south side of Wise Choice...when it's not muddy from the rain & when the guys aren't all greasy from fixing the bikes at Tykes....
My friend lived in that community between seastar and Summerset-There's actually a lot more people living there than you'd imagine..In the daytime I wouldn't see problem going-but at night, unless with someone that lived there-No...(take the safer, long way on the main lanes)
Funny you should ask....yes, we always cut through the area between Tykes and Wise Choice..LOL We always stop to talk with Lizard and whomever may be out working on the cycles. Plus, from many visits to Wise Choice, we feel like we are family with all the great folks that work at WC. They always have a rocking party in mid-December...the customer appreciation party. Really a fun time for everyone. Great food, drinks and of course...giant speakers and music!! If you ever are around when this is going on....stop in and enjoy all the fun!
Also, love cutting across the area in front of Seastar and have a stroll through the likkle neighborhood on our way to Ras Rody's or to Sharks. Nice folks in the area with a few cool likkle bars, etc. Love traveling the roads less traveled......
"My friend lived in that community between seastar and Summerset"
My friends in the 'hood refer to it as "capture land" - now, is this neighborhood the same as "Meringue Village/Town"?
Yes Bnewb-I know the little short cut and yes, no biggie very safe little short cut.Someone mentioned the area between seastar/summerset and just wanted to share my thoughts..Being so close in proximity..
RG-not sure if I ever heard it called anything particular..My friend lived in that area for many years-and sometime I'd stay there(and always watch the soccer games when they were going on in the field)..I'll have to ask him ..
well wi call it the village now.......tons of Jamaicans living there now.....mi knew it when nobody was living there
after they put the wata road in with the pipe wata at the end of Summerset Lane back in the mid 90's.......
all these Jamaicans moved on to this government land and built cottages on it........
thus it's captured land now and everyone is still waiting to see what the government is going to do........
they came thru around 2002 and talked to some squatters but nuthin came out of it.........
it's safe back there but mi wouldn't be walking around at 3AM in the morning der.......

brasi, is that where you met the obeah woman?
It was not in that neighborhood...further down West End Road. But that time...yes. Very dark.
I remember mi first trip into the village there was a water spigot at an inter section in the middle of the village and there was cb taking a shower in it. He hollared tattoocharlie come join me I said thanks mon but mi just fine. I wish now I would have jumped right in. I love the fact the community seemed to share and help eachother in many ways...
