help needed with a week to go!

Hello all. I have been a long time reader of this board and actually the one Rob had before this. I have always just searched for the information I needed before I would head to Negril. But this time, me and my girlfriend decided this weekend to head down next Wednesday!! She just scored us airline tickets and now I have to get the rooms!! We are staying March 7-13 and I wanted to do 3 nights on the beach and 3 nights on the cliffs (where I have never stayed). I think I can get the 3 nights at Blue Cave Castle but need to find something on the beach for 3 nights. I want to stay somewhere right in the middle and keep it around $125/night. Is that possible with this late of notice?? I figured if anyone had the knowledge to grab a room in such a short time it would be all of you here on the board.....thanks in advance for any and all help!! And we can't wait to get off that plane in one week....rooms booked or not!!

I would have a look at Rayon Hotel, all the info is on their website. It is a really nice place.

we just got back the end of January, and stayed at Negril Relax (Merrills 3) For just a little more than that we were all inclusive. If you want room only I think it was around $100 Take a look at Negril One stop for info and pictures. Give them a quick call if rooms are still available. For the price, I was very happy with it.

Try Rooms on the Beach. Its around 100 a night and in the middle of the beach. Plus its a great place.

Bar B Barn is available for three nights beginning March 7 for 105 per night for two (includes full breakfast w juice).

Rondel Village is a very nice spot

We're arriving on the 7th as well. Hopefully, we can catch a party bus to Negril! :)

Jackie, what time do you get in? We're scheduled to land at 12:55 pm. We'll have to do the pub crawl the following Wednesday.

I second Bar B Barn-- I have stayed there a few times and loved it for the location, the small family-run vibe and the breakfasts! It is not fancy by any stretch, but clean, welcoming and safe and has a really nice bar and deck right on the beach where you can eat/drink, etc.

We are booked into Kuyaba the end of May. Stayed there about 5 times. Good, clean, great food, priced right, etc.

Thanks so very much for everyone's quick help! We are booked at Bar-B-Barn for 3 nights and Blue Cave the other 3! Now I need to get transportation worked out. We hit ground at 3:00 pm and I would love to grab some cold ones and some jerk chicken on the way to Negril....are we getting there too late to swing that or even line up some good private transportation? I was thinking about $100-120 round trip...does that sound about right with a free phone or not? You guys rock....I can't wait to feel that whole attitude change when that plane lands!

Just sent Alfred an email! Thanks again....it is so cool how a vacation can fall in to place on such short notice if you just keep the right frame of mind! And of course with all of your help! It would be cool to meet some of you down there that have helped us....we will be the laid back couple with no plans each day and just going with the flow. We will be happy lounging and people watching or bar hopping and partying like rockstars! We are sooo looking forward to getting away! Thanks again...oh yeah....i sort of remember here on the board and the previous board where I think Marco had this list of where all the happenings and drink specials and what not where going on each day....can anyone point me to it if it is still posted somehwere! After all this I think I will owe some drinks to some people!

I agree Alfred is great

have a good trip, you will be in good hands with Alfred--and he will be happy to make any needed stops on the way in. My last trip I stopped at Megamart in Mobay to shop, biggas for jerk chicken and soup and a quick stop at half moon to use the restroom and check out the spot. That is the advantage to a private transfer. Bar B Barn is great--you will have a good time.

you are going to so love it there and Alfred will take good care of you. Tell him the folks from Arkansas are coming to see him in Sept and will be reaching out to him soon. We had a great time with him in 2009, wonderful person. Be sure and go to the webcast on Saturday night at Seastar, Rob and Lisa do a great job! Can't wait to get back HOME and visit with them.

On a side note, Jimmy Buffett will be here in North Little Rock tomorrow night and we are in a pre carribean mode (sp..sorry)

if I had a dollar for every time someone spelled caribbean carribean (myself included) I would have my gorgeous house in Negril already with a huge bank account to boot:) I mean, double bbs just don't make a lot of sense. Have fun in little rock!

Sure they do. Some like double D's, but double bbs certainly make sense.

Is there a webcast at Yellowbird at noon on Friday? We are staying just down the beach and thought we could stop by and see what it's all about! Can't promise anything though, we tend to wake up and end up where we end up!! Those are usually the most interesting days.....lol

Thanks everyone for all the help! One more question before we head out tomorrow morning. How long would it take for a casual walk from Bar-B-Barn to Seasplash so we can make the live music and webcast at noon on Thursday? I have walked the beach a few times but it's been awhile and I was never paying attention to where I was going! It was more of a walk with no plan and stop where people where having the most fun....which is usually everywhere on 7 mile!

Thats a good walk down the beach, if you do it nonstop at a good pace I would say about 30 minutes, I walk fast so maybe a little longer at a normal pace, watch for the water trampoline at Margaritaville, then you will see the bar at Treehouse and your almost there.

Oh, and I will sea you there, am at the airport now!

Thanks pgw...we will try and make it Thursday. We will be the 40's couple that has a constant smile on our faces....she will be the cute short blonde and I'll have the baseball cap on I'm sure. Have some drinks for us today/tonight! We hit the island at 3 tomorrow and can't wait!!
