Very Excited!
Hope it the best vacation ever for you and the family.
Negril is the best medicine for all ages.
Bless.
Cassidygirl - I remember the video you posted a while back of your son at Whoopies with the goats, that was you, correct?
That smile is worth everything, isn't it?
Sometimes I feel that watching an innocent smile on a child's face is one of the best sights around (and I don't even have kids...yet!) ;)
Bless
Indeed! This upcoming trip (April 2-11), I'm spending a good part of it working up a good family friendly itinerary so next year I can bring my kids & grandkids. My daughter came with me last time. I just can't imagine much better than Negril for the whole family! Blessings to you and your family Cassidygirl!
Stevie didn't say his first words until he was almost 5. They were "beach" and "ocean", and he said them in Negril.
Cassidygirl keep doing what you are doing...my son is "on the spectrum" as they say...he is a Junior in college this year.
There is always hope for better things...
My oldest has Aspergers ( high functioning Autism ), my middle is unaffected, and then there's Stevie. So if you happen to be on our flight, please accept my apologies in advance ; )
God Bless You! I give you much credit for being able to travel and to expose your sons to things that are new, different and outside of what may be their norm. That can present difficulties for any family. I am so glad that you have been able to reap the benefits of having taken on the challenge. I hope your trip is all you could ever want it to be. :) Enjoy!

Benjy Myaz has been playing fairly regularly during the realnegril.com webcasts at Seasplash recently. Incredible talent * Lovely man!
Yes Lisa!
Benjy is awesome.....in many ways, what a great talent, man, etc.
Bnewb, thank you for sharing that! If he plays at Seasplash while we are there, I would love to see him. He sounds like a great guy!
Beautiful. May doors open for your sons in Negril.
Ya Mon!
I know I am smiling :)
Great stuff! Looks like you were by Pirates Cave and Joseph's Cave, beautiful spot.
I think the whoopies hammock park video and the snorkeling ones with your autistic son were the most meaningful I have ever seen on this site and brought tears of joy! I grew up with a disabled brother (not autism, but cerebral palsy) and to see any child who has challenges in life existing in pure happiness in Negril is near and dear to my heart. I am so glad you are going back again and that Jamaica has proved to be one of your son's sweet spots.
My kiddo has special needs as well, so it was really cool to see how you have exposed your sons to Jamaica. We decided she gets to hang with GMa on the next reach, but she is coming with us on the one after. If you do not mind me asking, how are the locals with your sons?
Couldn't resist had to post this photo in answer to booger's question. I have saved it since you posted your beautiful story. I hope you don't mind - it warms my heart and soul each time i see it.

The hardest part about going to JA is the airport, security, lines etc. When we were leaving Ja they do a random security check where the pull you aside and search. Guess who was picked? The lady from the JA TSA was very kind and understanding when we explained Stevie's situation. She let me be with him and was very quick and gentle. I have found the locals to be very kind. My husband and I have been going to Negril for 20 years, so we have made some very solid relationships. We have been bringing the kids to the Charela since they were very small. The staff there is amazing. We even bring special food for Stevie and they prpare it for us. From the wait staff to the housekeepers, they are top notch! The beach is very child friendly, lots of shade and beach toys.
I can't say enough about how much all of my kids thrive while in JA. It's not just the resort part they love either. We go to see friends who live a very sparse and simple life. They get to see that most people on this planet are not as fortunate as we are in the states. They see the sense of community and what is most important in life.
LOVE this picture and the story behind it. My supervisor has a child who is "on the spectrum" and I have shared this with her. Sometimes life is not so easy so it is good to see what others are doing.
Cassidygirl- much respect. You are blessed and will be rewarded.
PEACE.

The kids know right away that he is different. They ask questions, then take him under their wings.
