But truly, that's the best choice in my opinion. It's not really "Higher end" like Grand Lido or Couples Swept away, but it's owned by Sandals and it's truly the nicest you are going to find in an affordable price range.

The Rius are wayyyy overpriced. I did the Riu Trop 5 times but it was affordable then.If you can afford Swept Away thats your only choice for high end.

Lots of kids there and the beach is really sand on top of cement.There is a reason its cheap....

Stayed at Riu Tropical Bay the year it opened. It was affordable and awesome - just not the right part of the beach. Stayed at Grand Pineapple a couple of years ago. Very nice - my only complaint is that the food selection wasn't as good as the larger AIs. I would encourage you to try and get them non AI and show them the real flavor of Negril. Plenty of affordable nice places on the beach to stay and food options are endless. Good luck.

any other "higher-end" AI's on the beach to you all could recommend? i'd like to see them on the main beach as well. thanks!

Charela Inn. You can do AI there. Locally owned. Staff wonderful. Rooms very nice. Pool. Food very good.
They could do the breakfast and dinner plan and sample local for lunch.
There is a very wide beach with lots of shade and privacy.

We used the taxi driver who is headquartered at Charela, Jervis I think was his name, an older man. He was absolutely lovely, and his taxi was spotless. The drivers at Country Country were away so somehow he got called to get us, took us to Canoe for a few hours, picked us up and took us to Sweet Spice, then picked us up there, very reasonable for the whole thing. I've never seen such a clean taxi, a great rep for Charela!

I would recommend Couples Swept Away. It's "higher end", for sure, and it's also on a nice section of the beach as well as close to the action. Good food selection and plenty of activities included.
