Who has a good reciepe for rum punch?

I have the overproof and appleton rums.What next?The rum punches @ Alfreds were to die for...:p

Since you have the rum portion covered ~ add some Dole Orange-Pineapple juice, splash of grenadine & a sprinkle of ground nutmeg :)

Here's our recipe...1 cup orange juice, 1 cup grapefruit juice, squeeze of lime, teaspoon of grenadine, 1/2 shot overproof rum. Serve over lots of ice and enjoy :)

Pineapple juice, fruit punch, splash of lime, dark rum and light rum , tons of ice.

Well true rum Punch should hold to the rhyme...
1 of sour (Lime)
2 of Sweet( Simple syrup)
3 of Strong ( OP Rum)
4 of weak (orange or Pineapple juice, or passion juice...or soda etc...whatever your tastes are)

dash of Agnostura bitters
dash or two of Grenadine for color
pinch of nutmeg
Lots of Ice

Of course I am not always the traditionalist ...and I love my Rum

I change the first two around since I do not like sweet drinks
1 of Sweet ( I use Demerara Sugar for the syrup)
2 of Sour...LIMES
3 of Strong ....1/2 OP and 1/2 El Dorado 12 or 15 year
4 of weak...some club soda with a splash of Ting or Ginger beer

dash of Agnostura bitters
pinch of nutmeg
A couple cubes of ice...

Stan....you and I are on the same page....I do not like sweet punches....but most like the taste of the "weak" in the rhyme above.....actually I put very little of the weak in my drink....and use a shaker to dilute the weak with the ice....I don't care for much ice in my drinks.

Going to try your recipe Scott, as I consider you a rum expert!

Of course my go to drink most evenings is the true Daiquiri recipe....2 oz of your best rum...1 oz lime juice....1/2 oz sugar.....place all into your shaker with the lime rinds.....and shake the hell out of it for 100 shakes.....pour into old fashion glass that has been chilled...pure heaven.

Well, there's the rum punch I make stateside, and the kind when I'm on the island. Below is my Jamaican recipe, blended most recently in late January in a cottage on the cliffs. The fresh fruit makes a huge difference, as well as the mood you're in while you're making it. (Hopefully joyous since you're in Jamaica!)

I mixed up some ginger syrup a few nights before the rum punch and can share that recipe if anyone's interested. Otherwise simple syrup will work.

The Campari is an unusual addition but worked well, adding bittersweet notes to balance out the sunshiney sweetness of the pineapple. (On a side note, I was surprised to see that Campari is blended and bottled on the island. Kind of like Guinness I guess...) If you don't have Creole bitters, Angostura is a decent substitute.

This made about a gallon or so, easy sippin in the sunshine at Bluefields and across the countryside as we cruised the south coast.

Mojomatics Legendary Rum Punch

1 medium size watermelon (10-12 lbs)
2 small golden-ripe pineapples
3 jamaican grapefruit
750 mL Wray & Nephew Overproof
750 mL Appleton Estate X/O
1/2 cup Campari
12 dashes of Creole bitters
1/2 cup ginger syrup (or simple syrup)
1/4 cup jamaican honey

Cut rind from watermelon and pineapple; dice fruit into large chunks. Place strainer over large bowl and start squeezing juice from fruit, preferably by hand. Add a couple pours of rum every once in a while until the bottles are empty. Squeeze grapefruit; add syrup, honey, bitters and Campari. Sample a small taste to confirm the right balance of sweet and sour.

Shake with ice & slice of fresh ginger. Pour over rocks, garnish with a stick of watermelon; top with ginger beer if you're taking it light. Or just keep it on the rocks if you're ready to get rocked!

A co-worker of mine (Jamaican), makes an awesome rum punch. This is his super simple recipe:

Jamaican Rum Punch
2 cups of lime or lemon juice
4 cups Jamaican white rum
6 cups strawberry flavored syrup
8 cups of water

Mix all ingredients together in a punch bowl. Serve over ice with a slice of lime or lemon on the edge of the glass or cup. Add more rum or more water to weaken or strengthen as needed.

My recipe for rum punch is...Bring glass to mouth,open and swallow....Rinse,repeat...

What ever formula that you use for a Jamaican Rum Punch, include a shot of Myres Dark Rum for that true Jamaican flavor. I noticed that those punches that take me back in time,to the Tarmac at MBJ when they gave you a cold one when you walked off of the plane include the Myres.

Think about the local ingredients when working on a traditional drink or meal. For the Rum Punch you have White Rum, Myres Dark Rum, Orange Juice, Lime Juice, sugar, and Grenadine; Simple and good.
