Only ONE WEEK to go!!!

I just realized that it’s exactly one week before we celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary in Negril! :D

When I reflect back to how we started and how far we’ve come it really amazes me.

Markus and I married right after graduating college. We were very young and very broke, literally living month to month to pay the rent. We were both working as a mural artists, Markus was also working as a waiter on the weekends. We lived in a house in Florida with two other college roommates.

We managed to pull together an entire wedding with 40+ people on a budget of $500. (everyone thought we were crazy)

We didn’t have a honeymoon and it was eight years before we could afford our first real vacation. The fact that we’re taking this trip next week and for the length of time that we’re traveling is a major milestone in our life. It’s truly a dream come true!

I wanted to share our story to give you a more intimate glimpse of who we are and how much this means to us. I don’t know if we could have pulled this off without all of your amazing advice, suggestions, encouragement, and support

That’s us, 10 years ago after our wedding. The suitcases were wedding gifts. Markus had just accepted a job in Germany and we were planning to move there in a month. (and of course, I didn’t know a word of German) That was the beginning of our life adventure together and I never looked back.
10 best years of my life.:o

That is what comes to mind when I read your wedding story. It's true, isn't it? All you really need is love. And anyone can see that is exactly what you two have. And people enjoy being in the presence of true and great love. You two put out so much joy and love in the world and that is why you get it back from so many, including all of us. Your wedding day sounds amazing and I can't wait to hear how amazing the anniversary is as well.
I am so glad I get to share a little bit of the joy and celebration too!

Angel – No, we never found that wedding ring, but Markus bought me a new one and I still have it to this day. (although it dropped to the bottom of the ocean once during a snorkeling trip...he did dive down & retrieve it!:D)
We're looking forward to 12 days, I still can't imagine what it's going to be like to be in Jamaica for that many days! so excited!

Clarity thought it was your wedding ring that was lost then retrieved in Negril. :-) you will enjoy the 12 days, once you've done that will want at least 2 weeks or more. Have a wonderful trip, you both deserve this. Then can come back and start saving for another one. Maybe your parents will make it there soon. Nice you found some people from your fathers past. Too bad you don't talk to your grandfather to find things out. But know how families can be.

Daisy, what a beautiful photo!! If love could be captured in a still frame .. there it is! Thank you for sharing your story .. I've been disappointed for many reasons about not being able to reach Negril with everyone next week. The sun,the sand, the beer, the music, the culture, the boardies, the food,.. Brasi's bellyflop .. but the more I read from you the more I feel this overwhelming feeling to know you... I truly wish I could be there to meet with both you and Markus and congratulate you on 10 years of love, support and hard work. The two of you are pure class. Happy Anniversary from a girl in the North may it be just as magical as the moments in this picture.

Angel - Yep, that was the second wedding ring, luckily Markus is good at deep diving. There is no way I would have been able to swim down that deep to retrieve it!
Unfortunately this will be our last trip for a while. (the grand finale) We're going to replace the "IrieBox" with a "Baby box" and hopefully start a family. After 10 years... it's time.
But we'll definitely be back some day... and introduce our little one to beautiful Jamaica.

Manda81 - Thanks so much! I felt the same way after reading your trip report! I also have an overwhelming feeling to get to know you too, I hope someday we will meet. If it's not in Jamaica, maybe San Francisco?:) Our home is always open!
