Booger, Peanut Butter(Pooper) & Jon's Good Times Trip
For Sandie and I this was our third trip in a year to Negril. Can you say we are hooked? We received the usual reaction when we told people we were headed back to Jamaica. It's all good though because we know and they don't. This trip was going to be different though as the first two were just Sandie and I. My buddy Jon, whom I have known for 30 years, was going to be making the trek with us this time and I was super stoked to share what we had discovered with a close friend. Jon is an easy going guy, low maintenance, and all around just fun to be around. He was working a ton of hours as I was so he was ready for the break. Only thing is he had no idea what was coming ahead.
I had Jon meet us at our house so we could make the ride to the airport together. We picked up some Red Stripes to get the party started and than the ride showed up. Bye Booger(my kiddo), bye Mom(love her for watching the Booger), and off we go headed to LAX for the redeye into Mobay. I like the redeye as I feel like I get an extra day, that is if we sleep on the plane.

Booger is a really stand-up guy. We hung out a LOT, and he was always in a great mood. As for his friend, Jon, high five!

Ride to LAX
Attachment 13941We had to pull out the big Red Stripes to get this one started. Odd thing is I have yet to see these big bottles in Jamaica. This time I took a big empty tea jug just in case we needed to take a biological break. :) Our last trip I was dying to go and had to take drastic measures. The ride to the airport was uneventful and soon enough we were boarding our plane, with a pretty solid buzz to boot. Now it's time for the chill pills as I have mentioned before we both struggle with flying now due to our previous occupations.
If you do not have a mileage card, yet charge a lot I would encourage you to get one if you like to travel. We flew first class both ways due to our mileage which as far as I'm concerned is the only way to go. I cannot sleep in a coach seat, EVER!
I knocked out as soon as my arse hit the seat and barely remember the layover, both which are good things. Next thing you know we see the water out the window. Finally we have made it back........
Attachment 13943
We blew thru immigration and customs in record time and as soon as we hit the little waiting area outside Kingsley James our driver showed up and off we were. First stop was for beers of course, second Bigga's to introduce Jon to some killer jerk, and third to Banmark to exchange and get some J's. One more stop at Wise Choice for more beers and snacks and as we were loading up a familiar looking guy scoots by headed towards Seastar. GERRRRRRRY I shouted hoping he would hear me over the noise of his scooter. Sure enough he flipped a u turn and I met my first boardie already of the trip and we hadn't even hit the hotel yet. Gerry is the Mighty Californian and his exploits are well documented and it was cool to meet him. We live about 50 miles from each other, yet it took us both making a trip to Negril to finally meet.
When we showed up at Seastar is was a little after noon and only our room was ready, which is to be expected as it was a couple hours before check in. We had packed swimsuits just in case our rooms were not ready, but ours was good to go and it was time to check out the room. My first impression was WOW! How can this room be this nice for so little money relative to the other places around? The pictures on the website do not do the room justice.
Attachment 13944
On a side note, thanks Gerry for getting me primed for my Negril vibe. While I was handling my business Jon took a seat on the balcony so he could soak it all in. The dude is in town for 30 minutes and has already chilled out and is in the groove of things. Unreal!

Soon enough we were in the pool having met another boardie. BRASI! As those of you who are in the know Brasi is a stand up guy and a pleasure to be around. And after seeing that he made the Chicken bus with an epic hangover the respect only grew later in the trip. Also, if you were curious as to the new construction at Seastar, you can see it in the background. Pool front rooms soon come.

I had seen the swim up bar in numerous pics before this reach and I was determined to break it in. After a few Stripes it was time to get out and finalize the plans for my bash the following day. First stop was Rexy's of course. Rexy's wife was out sick from work that day and nobody else was there, so Sandie and I had an enjoyable couple of hours chatting with Rexy and his wife. Rexy is a character and I would encourage anyone to go pay him a visit when in town. His place is nearly across the street for Sir D's.
We made our way back to Seastar and picked up Jon after his power nap in his hammock. I was dying to show Jon Eddie's Debar as it is my favorite hang out spot in Negril. We made our way down and chilled with Bobo a bit until Eddie made his presence. I hadn't finalized the venue for my bash but I knew where I wanted to have it. I hit Eddie up and asked him if I could have a party tomorrow and that while I was unsure of the headcount, could he be ready for a crowd. Eddie was more than accommodating and said he could handle the crowd.
Booger's bash soon come......

I was going to straighten out the next picture but figured why? This is about the angle of my head at about this time of the day....

One thing I loved about Seastar was the staff. They took care of any request with a smile and provided great conversation with all of us. We all agreed that our next stay would start at Seastar just as this one had. I have yet to find a better value with such great staff to boot. Chris is the man..........
Attachment 13949
Sandie's new buddy she met at Seastar. This young man is a joy to talk to and I loved his Pink Panther shirt.

I challenge you to get more comfortable than that. Well besides Francine's hammocks of course, which I forgot to pick up before heading home.

While at Seastar make sure you take some time to check out the carvings on the post. You will see some serious detail in the different post that hold up the cover over the Stage/ Dining area.

Bobo appeared to be a regular staple at Debar and we spent numerous hours enjoying his company. He was there to help us get the party started and I regrettably do not have many pictures from my own bash?? So if you have some please feel free to post them here. Rexy made an appearance as did Percy as well as a handful of boardies. Trevor cooked up some great chicken and I ended up being about done by about 8PM. It was great hanging with all the boardies who showed up and this night was sort of the start to the 8 day party we were about to encounter. We hadn't been to Catcha yet so we made the trek over to see our favorite staff in all of Negril. Looks like we just missed Hubbyman and Clarity by minutes, but no worries the next night was Luciano and all sorts of boardies were taking in the show.
Luciano soon come.....

Re: Booger, Peanut Butter(Pooper) & Jon's Good Times Trip
Ninja is referring to the hammock, booger. In case that wasn't clear. He saw another one there when he went to pick up ours on Saturday...and he wondered if it was yours. So sorry that we didnt ask and just bring it home for you....of course I can remedy the mistake by just going back there now to pick it up. LOL

Joe made the transfer with us to Catcha on Sunday and started drinking right away....
I had talked this place up with Jon for quite some time and Jon was eager to check it out. This time his room (Gemini II) was ready and ours (Libra) was not, a reversal from Seastar. So we dropped our bags in his room at hit the cliffs to start our jumping. Only problem is the sea was ANGRY! I only jumped once an swam my ass off to get out. No worries, the seas will chill soon and we have 3 days to jump, or so I thought.
Attachment 14080
A great thing about Catcha is they have a pool if the seas get rough. But until than it was time to chill in my favorite spot.
Attachment 14081
After taking it all in it was time to hit the bar and see who was there. Low and behold I ran into the rock stars themselves.
Attachment 14082
The cool kids ended up being my favorite peeps of the trip. Pay attention as I will say this again. :p Seriously though, these two were made for each other. So much love and so much character wrapped up into two wonderful people.
Attachment 14083
Sandie says let's take in the sunset, and I oblige as it has been 3 days and I have yet to see a sunset. The camera dries up after this as we were too busy taking each other in to take pictures. However we had our first meal of the trip at Ivan's this night with Jon and Tizzy on a double date.
I was staring at the menu trying to decide what the heck to get when Sandie tells me to sit tight as she peels off toward the kitchen. Next thing you know Jon and I have tenderloin and smashed potatoes showing up in the most killer sauce I have ever had. I am not big on beef in Jamaica as it taste too gamey too me, however tonight's meal was something special. Garfield the chef came thru big time and Jon and I were quiet until our plate was empty. Thanks Garfield once again for another amazing meal. A meal at Ivan's is more than just a meal, it is an experience. And do not forget to ask for some pumpkin soup. OMG. I could drink this stuff day and night for a month and still not get sick of it. Sandie gets her usual of seafood linguine, which those in the know say is one of the best dishes at Ivan's.
The next day was nothing but pure relaxation on the cliffs of Catcha. The seas were still angry so the pool became the chill spot for the day. Carol whipped up one of her wonderful Purple Rains for us as we relaxed and did nothing for the entire day, well at least until night hit.
C&D bar soon come.....

Man that had me cracking up. You say that so nonchalantly, like it's what one does, when one feels the need in a DAMN LIMOUSINE!! Don't those come with bathrooms? No?... just hot-tubs?
