Jan 31 for ATI? I think you meant July 31st? I don't arrive until Aug 6th.

Yes, I will be there for ATI & JAMAICA's 50th and I cant wait! Going from 8/1-8/8, so glad we booked early, most of the hotels are booked already for that week. Does anyone know where I can get a wristband and when do they usually go on sale? I hope there is a foam party. I heard they had some in the past that were off the chain! :cool:

All kinds of different wines are their complimentary along with your ticket. What's in my cup stays in my cup. ;) then i will be moving right along to tour port antonio. A much needed vacation. NorternCaligurl, I usually travel to Jamaica the ending of January for 3-4 weeks however, last year I came the ending of July. I stayed for ATI, Indepence Day and St mary mi come from and also, the reggae wine festival. This year the Independence celebration should be bigger and better because it's the 50th year. There was a lot going on around that time, I had a blast. I will be doing a repeat this year with a little twist of port antonio this time. I am a solo traveler to Jamaica but always meet pretty cool people. Maybe we can hookup along with other boardies in August.

Tic Toc I read your trip report and love your free spirit. This will be my 2nd time going to ATI hopefully I will make it to ATI 2013 I would love to meet you and your lovely family. Hi Butterfly, this is my first time going to ATI but I hear its been nice each year. For some of guys who have been there before which one has the better wristband, ATI or Smirnoff Dream? The early ATI bands are $13K JD, and $160 US via the www.atiweekend.com website. I can't tell much from the line up but what you think?

Each time I’ve attended, we bought our bands there once we knew which events we were attending. I would guess it would be another month before line ups are posted.
One year I attended events at both Appleton and Smirnoff. I LOVED the waterpark afternoon. The sound systems are excellent EVERYWHERE. Each venue was packed with partiers. Plain clothes security personnel are all over ready to take care of any situation that needs attention.
Tip, if attending night events, prepare to walk back to your hotel if possible. Taking a taxi would be a big mistake as the traffic will be bumper to bumper for hours.

I am also planning on going to just a few, not many of the events...it is nice to know that you can buy a wristband for what you want to attend instead of committing to the whole weekend or to everything. Good tip about the walking. I stay outside of Negril so will keep this in mind. Guess the beach road is kinda like it is on New Years Eve, basically a parking lot!! Getting excited....soon reach!!

Actually it’s probably going to be 3 times busier than new year’s eve. Remember this is also their 50th year independence celebration. I understand there will be parties and events starting from the end of july so Westmoreland is going to be packed.
Make plans to walk as far as you can after the night events. The road way is one long slow moving string of headlights and the roadside is lined with vendors galore. We stopped at three different soup vendors one night because someone had something better than the last. The same with jerk chicken grills.
No, you don’t have to commit to the whole weekend. Once you know which events you want to attend, purchase your pass for that event.
I will be there from 7/28 - 8/11, never been to ATI but have to be there to celebrate the 50th Independence Anniversary.

Time is getting closer for ATI and independace weekend :cool:. I found the site to purchase the wristbands for $160. But I was wondering if you can pay as you party,depending on what party you want to go to. I am scared that if I don't get a wrist band but still want to go to the party they may be filled up with folks that already have wristbands and it will be to filled to capacity. Has anyone went to parties without a wrist band and just pay at the door? Thanks!

Yes, you can purchase single entry tickets to all the events instead of buying a wrist band. There will be boths set up to not only check wrist bands, but sell tickets.
Don't think you'll have to worry about places filling to capacity, although there will be a lot of people attending, each location is pretty spacious. The only time an ATI event location couldn't accomodate the crowd was in 2009 when Vybz Kartel was performing at the Jungle. That was a poor choice of venue for such large stageshow and it looks like the promoters learned their lesson.
Thanks *vi*, I was hesitant to purchase a wristband becasue I think I may be too worn out to attend all the parties and did not want to waste my money.(I party pretty hard and usually need a day of recouperating before I continue,lol) The one I am looking forward to the most the the party at the waterpark, I seen a you tube clip of it and I cant wait!!! It looks like a pool party times 1000.Also, do you know which event is the white party? There is something about sunkissed skin in all white that turns me all the way on, lol. Looking forward to seeing a sea of beautiful people in all white. :p I looked at this website on ATI... check out the video it has when you scroll down. I love the gals with the angel feathers on the stage! I have to find the perfect white fit!

Not sure where the all white affair will be this year, but it's always on a beach. More and more details come out the closer it gets to the date so keep your eye out for new postings on different sites.
One year I went, there was an all pink affair which was beautiful. Even the guys got into the spirit and wore pink. However white is more poplar so start window shopping now.
The waterpark was great fun because besides dancing, socializing and drinking, you get to splash around and play like a kid.

I had to look at it again and see who Ron Burke was...I just looked and WOW, he is gorge!! Why do I have this crazy little grin on my face :p I need to relax and just keep counting down the days, lol. This is just what a single gal like me needs in my life right now FOR REAL!!!!! I have a feeling ATI will be just what the Dr. ordered!
