We're in the TEENS!
19 days till we are in beautiful Jamaica!
Just had to post that! This is our third trip to Jamaica and our first time staying on the cliffs. I am actually really lucky to be taking this trip.
About 2 months after we paid for the trip, I was laid off. Much of it was non-refundable, so we are just embracing this trip as a time
to refresh and re-energize, and when I get back, I'm taking all those irie vibes and finding me a new, better job.
Thanks for all the help and advice I have received from this board over the past few years.
Respect and Blessings!

You have the right attitude Rust. I know you will be renewed in JA and it will carry you to betta things. I was laid off too last summer and it turned out to be a blessing so I hope the same for you. enJOY your reach and soak up every moment.

Re: We're in the TEENS!
Thanks! It definitely is what I need. Been a long, tough couple of years. We are raising two teens...one girl and one boy, and if you have any kids, you know how those teen years are. Our son has high-functioning autism (Asperger's), and he is turning 18 this year. My wife jokes, "Well, we kept him alive!"..lol. My daughter is 12 and getting boy-crazy, and Dad is starting to dislike all boys of her age...haha.
When I went on my first trip to Jamaica I was dealing with a sever anxiety disorder. It was my first time out of country and we were traveling with my in-laws and both of our kids (also their first time out of country) and it fell on to me to make sure everybody was taken care of. Ever since we came back from Jamaica that first time, I have only had a couple of panic attacks! It is amazing what being in such a peaceful place can do for you body, mind, and soul! This year, my wife and I decided to stay on the cliffs just so we could get some extreme relaxation. I love the beach, but I do get tired of saying No Mon several hundred times a day...lol. We are staying at Samsara, so we can get the best of both worlds.
One of the most freeing times I've ever had was last reach, sitting at 3 Dives smoking a spliff as the sun went down over the beautiful Caribbean water. My soul aches for that feeling once again.
But soon come Mon!...every ting gonna be alright!

Re: We're in the TEENS!
That's a beautiful sunset picture!:D
I'm sorry to hear about your job, but I agree with what Sweetness and Tizzy said. You've got the right perspective and Jamaica is the perfect place to re-energize your spirit. You can use the time to reflect and be inspired.
You mentioned this is your first time on the cliffs, I agree that it has a more relaxed vibe on the west end.
Have a wonderful time in Negril, enjoy every minute in paradise!

Re: We're in the TEENS!
SamSara is the "perfect" place for some serious R&R :)

Re: We're in the TEENS!
Yes mon - bless your journey.

Re: We're in the TEENS!
You're at Samsara? That's where I stayed my first time on cliffs....what kind of room did you book?
-
Re: We're in the TEENS!
Ocean Front room with the AC. We got AI because I found a deal that basically was the same price as Room Only. Cuts down on the fruity drink cost too!
My wife said yesterday, "we only have a week and a half to go"....wow, that put it into real perspective!

Re: We're in the TEENS!
Sweet! When you get there, see if they can upgrade you to one of those king cottages....same price I'm pretty sure and they really cool.
have a great trip!

Re: We're in the TEENS!
I've stayed at Samsara twice, nice place. Great views from Cliffs, good AC in the rooms that have AC, and a really nice pool compared to most of the properties on the Cliffs (less than half even have a pool, lol). The food is good, especially the spaghetti if I recall, and this was before that fancy Ital place, Ciao, popped up across the street. That place has good pizza.
Jacuzzi, too, but usually it's the same temp as the pool. The front of the hotel, particularly the understated lobby, is misleading. Through the gates opens a picturesque resort with a fancy feel for such a low price. Don't expect Ritz Carlton-style white-glove service, but you can jump off a little cliff into sparkling clear water, and that's a BIG plus ....

Re: We're in the TEENS!
That's right....definately go across the road to Ciao Jamaica. Every meal I had was outstanding.
Can't say much about anything else because I didn't do much there except sleep and dive the cliffs.

Re: We're in the TEENS!
We're gonna try out YS Falls this year and Pelican Bar...maybe check out the light house. We are bringing our own snorkeling equipment this year, so can't wait to see the little nemo's again. I hope we can catch some good live bands while we are down. We want to check out the caves at Xtabi...and oh man I can't wait to get me some 3 Dives food!!!
I'm not big on diving, so how difficult is it to climb down the ladder at Samsara?
