decided to give otel a try
well as someone else pointed out - otel.com has a sweet summer special on Legends - $37 a night for a garden double.. it seems too good to be true - but after contacting Legends/samsara on facebook and verified that all rooms have air and cable, and researching otel.com enough to know that they are a legit business - so i pushed the button..
5 nights at legends WITH TAX - $187!!!
after i paid i got a voucher to print out with details and confirmation #s.. so far so good - i willl post my experience with this during and after my stay.. it was just sooo much cheaper the EVERY OTHER site i checked.. fingers crossed that it works out..

I booked through a UK site one time and just to make sure everything was legit, after they emailed me the voucher I called the resort to make sure they had my reservation..they did. It made me feel much better knowing the actual hotel knew I was coming.

I remember back in the day I found this absolutely SICK rate for RIU (I think they were charging a low rate for a single but it was TWO), and I figured I would roll the dice and NOT notify the RIU ahead of time in case they tried to take their way out of it.
When we arrived, the guy at the desk did not even blink.
This was about eight years ago, and I think I paid $550 for seven days total for two people -- all food and drinks, etc.

We stayed at Legends a few years ago. Rooms were nice and some great staff.
Only drawback is no fridge, and the bar and restaurant were very expensive. They also offer all inclusive, so I
think structure bar and food prices to encourage you to buy the AI.
We have looked at staying there again, but would need to find a mini fridge to rent somewhere.

Just a FYI, Legends/SamSara rents mini fridges for $10 US per day.

don't forget with Legends they will charge you for every little thing..........safe, wifi, guests, refrig, etc etc........
but if you are just looking for a place to sleep on da beach.........tuff to beat for $37/night

WiFi is free sat Legends as Patricia pointed out. It's only available in the bar/restaurant.
There are many mixed reviews about Legends floating around the web on different sites. I've stayed at Legends 4 times with my 5th trip coming up in July. I've always done the AI. I can tell you that I have never had a "bad experience" with them or Samsara. I'm a "Yardie" who left the The Rock 25 years ago...grew up down in St. Catherine (Spanish Town) and never visited Negril until back in 2006. Since then, I have been hooked and go back every 2 years. I chose Legends for the obvious AI, the locals, the basic feel of the property and the friendliness and kindness of the people working there. I go on vacation to a beach resort/hotel to do exactly that...be on the beach, not in the room.
Everyone, will have their own opinions and experiences to which they are entitled to and given respect for the same. My advice, be polite, treat the folks there with a little respect and you will be surprised just how reciprocal it will be. Enjoy yourself.

I was at SamSara in April & it was free at the bar & across the street at Ciao Jamaica.....

Yes, I think it came down to roughly $48.00 per person/per day ~~ 3 meals + drinks from 10:00 a.m. - 10 p.m. was worth it for us....like I said in another post you can purchase this on a day to day basis, if you want to give it a try....
