Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
We are going To Beaches Negril next spring and have heard that they have a 5 year contract with another rum company. After many trips to AI's in Negril, I have come to enjoy Appleton. Is there somewhere close to the AI's in Negril that sells Appleton? I'd love to be able to buy it close by without having to go into town.
While not opposed to going into Negril, I'd like to find some close so I could have it as soon as I arrived and not have to wait until I made the trip into town.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
I can't give you a place close to Beaches, but, nearly every store I have been in Negril have Appletons. It's hard for me to imagine that Beaches would not have Appletons. Kind of Un-Jamaican if you ask me. Anyhow, I don't think you will have any problem obtaining some good Appleton. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks yetta! I'm guessing my first stop should be at the resort gift shop.
Sandals signed a 5 year deal in 2010 with Demerara Distilleries to only have El Dorado rum at their resorts. Hard to believe a rum made in Guyana wins our over a good Jamaican rum.

blech. if you can stop off on your way. el d can't compare.
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
Even if you are on a Beaches bus to go from the airport to the resort, just tell your driver what you are looking for and I am sure he will stop somewhere where you can get some.
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
everyone carries Appleton Rum........easy to find at any shop........about $11US for Appleton Special.......
was talking to Kevin the mgr at Bourbon Beach who use to work for Sandals.........
and Sandals and all the big all inclusives have their per person food and beverage costs pretty low.........
because they do contracts on booze, beer and food to keep their per person food cost down........
believe it or not........
Kevin was saying they have it down to a science and that their per day food and beverage cost is only $15US a day per person!
Cool Runnings, Marko

I can't believe that they would import rum when Appleton's is so good! I guess it is because Beaches is all over the Caribbean and the contract is probably for all of the properties. I think Appleton's rum is perfect. At Couples Negril you get a bottle in your room!

Here's a link to a map of Negril - http://media.tripod.lycos.com/2567851/2007898.pdf
Scroll down for details.
If you look there is a grocery store across the street about a kilometer away.
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
I should not cost too much if you pick up a bottle of Special at the airport, then you would have it ,before, during, and after hotel check-in........lol
resupply later
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
Rambo....usually at the airport all I want to do it get thru the lines and head to my resort. But it's a great thought. Thanks!
JaJodi.....if I don't get the bus driver to stop, this is where I'll go. We also love our resort being next to Cosmo's because it's one of our favorite beach stops.
sbeth......that was my thought too. It's an entire Sandals chain thing......not just Sandals Jamaica.
I just hope the resort doesn't care that I carry my own bottle (or two) of around with me!
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
Got it. Well, you should be able to find it anyway. Maybe you can still have them make you rum drinks with their stinky rum and then you could pour a little appleton floater on top! Maybe bring a small plastic bottle with you for that purpose? Like one of those little bottles meant for toiletries that they sell at Sally's Beauty Supply and at some grocery stores or drug stores?
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
I will have to remember to take a plastic bottle with me for rum purposes. I'll just order a Coke. Not even bother with their stinky rum! Since I'm not taking it as a liquid in my luggage, I'll find a big plastic bottle! ;)

Sounds like a good plan! Enjoy :)
Re: Where to buy Appleton rum if your all-inclusive doesn't have it
gregandkelly63 ....I don't believe it's as much a "contract" with the El Dorado rum, as much as the label is owned by Sandals...call it their private label....we saw last year from all the Sandals/Beaches brochures they place in your room at the Grand Pineapple, that they own the distillery in Guyana....have articles, and ads for it in their literature....that being said, since Sandals AND Beaches swear by their "luxury included" claim...they should carry the good stuff, especially since Appleton is local rum
