If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negril?
I like Negril when it's relatively quiet with perfect weather -- not too hot, not too windy or stormy ....
I think the best time is mid January ....
Thoughts?

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
I love late November and late May. Low season rates, not too crowded but not too empty. Weather is perfect with some afternoon showers that disappear quickly. Holiday days off work combined with vacation days make for a longer stay. Thanksgiving in Negril, Memorial day in Negril. Ahh.

We live in the northeast U.S. and like to get out of the snow & cold for a while. We usually travel in mid to late Feb which also happens to be the dry season in Ja.
I am sure we miss out on many beauitifull things by traveling in the winter. When / if we hit the lottery we will try all the other months :)

I love January to break up the cold winter. My husband likes November because it is cheaper

We have been many times of the year, but we prefer November. Hurricane season is over and the humidity is lower. We find that in the winter months, the water is slightly chilly.

I have been in January, April, May, September, October, November and December......
So far, I like them ALL :)
But clearly, I still have more research to do

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
Was there in July. Really hot and humid...little rain in the p.m. and sunny the rest of the time. I liked it.
April...Too overcast and the water was too rough. Had I not been distracted by crazy people and lots of fun i would've been a bit disappointed. Was that typical for April?

We have been to Negril in March and November. I like mid to late November best. Mid is kind of quiet and the closer to Thanksgiving week the busier it gets. Prices are still low season and most places are open. The weather was perfect both months.

We have only ever been in late February and early March ...... love the weather and the beach then.
We are going in early September and late November this year ...... will know better what I like more after that.
But really, is there ever a time in Negril that you would not want to go?

Like LLAP, we travel in February to escape the cold of the northeast. We're hoping in another year or two that we can travel more than just once a year.

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
I've done many. You do get longer days of sun if you go in June but higher risk of rain.I'm doing December to get out of the cold northeast but book my rooms right up to the winter price change.

Been in April and September. Prefer September, lush green and lower prices. We were married in Ocho in Sept and it's also my wife's birthday, so those two things could have something to do with my choice.

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
@Tizzy-been many times in April and this past visit (same week as you were there) was the worst we have ever seen. Barely saw the sun and the surf was very rough and then the seaweed came rolling in. It was the first time we ever used the pool at Coco and came home as stark white as we went. It was still a lot of fun and a great vacation. You win some and you lose some when it comes to the weather. We go twice a year and I think Nov/Dec is my favorite.

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
Last couple of years we've been going in January and that has been my favorite. It takes us out of the nasty weather in NJ for a week. The summer too hot, and we were iffy weather wise in early November one year, got the tail end of a hurricane! This year trying early December. A month earlier than normal but price wise it's much better. The way I look at it, it will be better than any month in NJ :)

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
So far I have been in May. The weather was just like the weather in Miami in may. Hot all day, rainy in the afternoon for a bit. Sunny in time for sunset.
We have a trip coming in November, and a trip coming for the boardie bash in April.
I think I might do that 4 night package at the treehouse for half my April trip, then the cliffs for the other half.

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
My favorite months are april and may. I have been once in july-august...TOO HOT! Nov good pricewise but still a little rainy. late Dec, jan beginning of feb are chilly months to me, i had to use a shawl on the beach 1 yr. I find the water a bit to cold to enjoy during those months. once had a jamaican tell me "we're having a cold front" I'm from Buffalo...thats a cold front for ya!.....But i go for extended stays out of the cold and snow of the northeast.....and a chilly day in ja beats a snowy day at home any day! april may be a little rainy but rain makes things grow and may is just warming up to heat. But i go for extended stays(usually feb-may) out of the cold and snow of the northeast.....and a chilly day in ja beats a snowy day at home any day!

Re: If home committments did not play into it, what is the BEST time of year for Negr
We have reached in January, March, April, June, August, September, October, and December. Can't wait for February, July, and November. The beach is the quietest just after April until just before Thanksgiving. So, if you want quiet, there you go. The weather is almost as varied as it is here in West Michigan - only no white stuff. We've gone 3 different Aprils the past 4 years and the weather was all different. We have gone 4 consecutive Octobers and the weather varies as well. If you have a concern about Hurricanes - June 1 to November 30 is the season - buy insurance. It doesn't cost much.
