Wonderful performance
Thank you!!! My thought exactly. I knew the time of the race & hoped BBC America would at least have it... nope. NBC chose beach volleyball & dressage over track & field. At least I saw the qualifying live last night. NBC... many thumbs down. It's all about ratings, not sports & fans.
no live coverage here in canada either, wasted all day waiting, soon come
We had live coverage here in Montreal! (Cant's remember if it was CTV or CBC) BUT ..... It was AWESOME! Trawlany must be bursting!
Congratualtions to you, Jamaica, on the eve of your 50th anniversary on winning the Gold and Silver! Not to mention yesterdays awesome display by the ladies!
You've come a long way, Jamaica!
Little bit of national pride showing down there, guys? There should be!
Felicitations
live on ctv in Canada.
It was live as planned on CTV at 4:50pm. Bolt was awesome! I think the US TV air it delayed to primetime to get top advert. dollar.
I watched it live here in Russia last night about 1 am. I feel so sorry for Asafa, looks he was hurt real bad, first stumbled on the start and then just stopped running... I guess jamaican tabloids are getting ready to eat him alive, especially after the story with Yendy...
They may not have had it live in the States, but it's constantly be replayed on the news this morning. Fantastic performance!
NBC finally aired it at around 11:30pm last night
It was worth the wait for sure
Would be nice to have a different title, like "Wow did you see the 100m final". This title was a bit of a spoiler IMO. The race wasn't shown in the US until late last night.
Sorry to spoil it for those usa tape delyed olympics, we are lucky in canada to have 3 live channels carrying different events live, congrats to the Jamacian team it blows me away how impressive they are against the rich countries and all the privlages they have for training and pampering. It proves why I prefer substance over style, Cheers! PS I started the thread after the semi-final, because Bolt was so impressive, we were betting what he would post in the final, and everyone at the bar picked in from 9.39 to 9.49, I believe if he wasn't protecting from false start DQ rule he could easily break 9.5
We watched live at Seastar was great place to be, happy hour chicken wings and the 100 meter final! My son has a video will try to post later.
Those clowns at NBC have turned me off on watching their network. A few favorite programs only from now on. (Quit their local station years ago for news, never watched Today because Katie Couric made me want to gag - lol.)
At 10:15 p.m. they announced the 100 meter race would be coming up next. It was all sorts of other track & field events instead. I literally fell asleep sitting up after waiting 3+ hours to see the race broadcast. At least I was able to catch it - race only - on the morning news. Still missed out on all the background & post race broadcast. Grrrrrrrrr....
Miss Anna,
The reaction to Powell's injury has been exactly the opposite. Maybe the tabloids in Russia are eating him alive in the press, but the Jamaican Prime Minister's statement in the Jamaica Gleaner speaks for feelings of many Jamaicans:
"We thank God Almighty for our athletes. Thank you Father and continue to guard us with your mighty hand. One love," she said. Simpson Miller also had sympathy for the other Jamaican in the race, Asafa Powell, who pulled up before completing the race.
"We should now give him our strength and our love."
A big up to all the Jamaican athletes!
LOL....I know what you mean. I quit the local NBC station last year (but for different reasons.....I used to WORK there! Ha)
I knew exactly why they were doing it....though it was National NBC's decision and not local but still I wasn't happy about it
I read an article today that says the International Olympic Comittee stands behind NBC's decision to time delay and show it in prime time (of course they do...NBC paid them tons of money to air the olympics) hahaha
They then said that they had it streaming live for anyone who wanted to watch it live.
The problem with that is....I was all set to watch it at 4:50pm. I had the tv on and no race.....I did what I am now accustomed to doing when I want news...I went to Facebook LOL.....and I then saw ALL of the posts about who won. I was happy for the news, but sad that I missed it live.
I still waited up to watch it though
Wish it could have happened differently, but I enjoyed the end results either way!
Congrats to Jamaica....really great to see what all they have done in the olympics and to imagine the partying that is going on today....wish I could be a part of it
The live streaming kept freezing up so boo to NBC
Rob, we all know that PMs say what they have to say. But we all know how some pple in Jamaica are badmind and how losers love to discuss if a big man falls once. As for me I really wished Jamaica took all 3 medals in this race, dew to the fact russians are not participating )))
Anyways, here's a new song by Tommy Lee in honor of Usain. Phsyco remix )

What a strange thing to say...there's bad minded people everywhere...not just Jamaica!!!
None of our Jamaican friends are talking this way about Powell...NONE! Nor have I seen or heard anything in the media.
This was an incredible day for Jamaica/Jamaicans & people that so love it here...let's not ruin it with such negativity.
Mr. Bolt is one fast and classy gentleman!

Caught the NBC replay at around 11:30 after having purposely avoiding all news and this board all day. Lets not forget about Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who also put on a show in the women's 100 meter on Saturday!
I can understand them showing events on tape delay that happen when they aren't doing a broadcast, but when one of the major events is happening during your regularly scheduled broadcast and you don't show it live, that's just crazy.
Speaking of crazy, how intense was the local reaction? I'd have to think with everyone already in a party mood, this must have started some off the charts revelry.
