Need a list of not to miss bars in Negril!

Hi all,

I'm a relative Newbie to this forum, having been reading the posts but not posting much. The hubby & I are heading to Negril in December for our first non-AI trip. We're staying at Catcha and Country Country.

I'm looking for a list of not to miss bars on both the beach and the cliffs (daytime). Looking for good value (neither of us drink beer) and a great vibe. Do any of them have good local entertainment during the day or is that mostly a night time thing? My husband is dealing with some health issues, so I doubt we'll be up late partying at night but we do love a good beach bar!

Can't wait to hear your recommendations!:)

OK so where do I start? Beach first Seasplash! happy hour 12 til 2 and 4 til 8, Buddy,s at Wild Parrot Richard the bartender makes some real good drinks!, Sunnyside Maureens smile and Robert make it worth the stop here for sure!, Yellowbird, seriously dirty banana,s 2 for $5 US! Bourben Beach, new management and great new old place, great service and the chicken! These were some of the top picks from the last trip!

Westend! Always a stop at Canoe,rum punch, and great food!, No Limit, cool local place and, just walk across the street and a stop at Peewee,s try the rumpunch maybe just one though!, next C&D,Jennys, Dawn,s big smile will keep you coming back! , A new one this trip was Seriuos Chicken, laid back local feeling, Seastar Inn happy hour 4 til 6, filthy dirty bananas! and 2 for 1 chicken wings!, Ivan,s bar fancy smancy cocktails with a view! , Sir D,s the best view of the sunset in the west!


These are only Afew there are dozens more!

How about the One Love Pub Crawl that takes you to various bars on Wednesdays? Or..have they added another day to the schedule? That way you can experience many bars without transportation worries.

I start at one end of the beach and work my way to the other.....stopping at all the bars.

In my opinion.....they are all "not to miss" bars :D

But on the cliffs, don't miss Sea Star, during the day for lunch or happy hour they have great food. Same with Canoe Bar on the cliffs plus you can chill on their beach during the day....

Don't forget the daily 2 for 1 specials at White Sands

Seastar offers live music on Saturday nights, LTU offers a DJ on Friday nights for your music fix on the West End. If you like country music a stop at Jenny's/C&D bar is a must on a Friday night as well as she is currently doing a Texas BBQ with a Jamaican flair. If you want to chill at a neighborhood spot in the late afternoon early evening Eddie's Debar is a great place. Ivan's bar at Catcha has a great vibe, so enjoy your time there with their awesome staff.

And for additional music fixes look at the utility poles as you drive up and down the road as you will see many colorful signs advertising where you can find the current shows. If you are going later in December you will most likely have a better choice as more folks will be in town and you know how supply and demand works.

Yep, I know I missed lots, like Debar!, Natural Mystic, Whoopy,s Park, Sunbeach!

you really don't need a 'list' -- everyone here will post their own favorite places, but there are so many of them that you'll just make yourself nuts trying to follow a list.... just walk on the road - it doesn't matter which direction, everywhere you look is another fun place... you can't go a 1/4 mile in ANY direction without literally bumping into another one and they're ALL great fun spots!

You're staying at Catcha? Well you aint got to go NOwhere my friend....Ivans is on your front porch! ;)

But....I personally wouldn't leave the best end without spending a little time at Eddies DeBar and C&D (Connie is my fav).

Thanks everyone! Don't worry, it's not like I'm going to be checking bars off the list, more like "Oh look, there's one of the bars people said is fun, let's have a drink"...

I suspect we'll be spending a lot of time at Ivan's, but I would like to check out some of the other spots! As for our 5 days on the beach, I suspect we'll just be wandering. Can't wait - soon come!

We're seriously considering doing that. We switch hotels on the Wednesday, so I'm not sure how well that will work. With any luck they'll add another day; it'd be great to do it early in our trip!

Sunnyside, Robert and Maureen are the best!

I read here a few weeks ago that they've added Friday. Do a search and you'll find an email address so you can confirm....that's as long as it's still going come December.

after being here in Negril last month and now this month.........
mi would have to say that Bourbon Beach is probably the best bar to hang at day and night......
lot of fun and good laughs.......good prices.......
$200J's Red Stripes and $150J Rum Punch from 5PM - 7PM......

mi was der last week too.......
it's a totally different experience versus the very lively places on the Beach like Bourbon Beach.......
Elvis was der and tossed back some cold Red Stripes........mi was the only guy der........

I agree with others as far as great places. It's all about the "vibe" Which ebbs and flows with the combination of bar tenders and patrons. Drink specials are an added bonus.
