In the past 5 years I've been to Negril 10 times and looking forward to coming back December 27 for my birthday on the 28th and New Year's Eve. I was just there in July and in March previous to that. Every time I get fed up with life in Canada......I escape to Negril. I shut the door on my life here and enjoy walking the beach and relaxing. I have made lots of friends in Negril and feels like a home away from home.:o

Welcome Lisa!! I feel you mi sister!! So many of us feel exactly the same way. I can proudly say that I am one of them. I was in my forties when I first reach. I have been addicted since. I think if I were blessed enough to make it to Negril younger...I would have stayed!!:) With over 28 trips since, I still look forward to every single trip with more anticipation than the last. Hope to see you there in Dec/Jan...plan to be there for our longest trip ever...27 days!! Yeah!! So if you see a 62 year old lady with the biggest smile ever and soaking in all the wonders of Jamaica...it will be me!! Or many other folks that have been lucky enough to live this long. LOL It's going to be a great Christmas and new beginning to 2013!!!:)

I hear ya! We go in less than two weeks, then again in November, and I'm already trying to plan a trip for the end of April.
What is it that does it for you? For me it is the people, their great big smiles, and the way they make you feel like "every little thing is gonna be alright."
For me it's all the wonderful people I meet every time. Last time I rented a room in someone's yard. It was very peaceful and I had a lot of fun with all the kids in the yard. Saw how coffee is roasted and learned a lot about the simpler things in life. Was planning to stay in the same home this December! Will be turning 44 on December 28th and I'm gonna party hardy!!!
Sorry Lia....I messed up the rotation and called you Lisa. My bad!!! Sounds like your last visit was a true Jamaican one. Nothing better than being in da yard. Hope your birthday is an unforgettable one!! Party on............
hi...you are on the same track as me....lol.....but i was there in feb...then june....and now im planning my dec trip. i started going about 7 years ago...think im on trip 14. My beach walks are one of my favorite thins in life...early morning....so relaxing....a nice break from Canada...especially in the winter!
I was also able to book a room at Miss Norma's Guesthouse. Stayed there in July and it was wonderful. Considering that this year will be my 3rd trip in December and I am a budget traveller.....it was a really smart move on my part. She is right across from Alfreds and there are lots of wonderful restaurants around.
on one return trip, as we were driving up west end rd.....somebody walkin along the roadway hollered "Rambo"!!just having arrived, that made us feel "at home"
Yes,I have guilt for going to Negril 13 times but then I also say to myself......I can get a flight from Newark airport and be at one of the best beaches in the world in 3 hours......I have met friends from Wales who have to fly SO much to get here,so? I go,I know what I'm getting,where to go,what to do,how much to pay and STILL find new things....
4 months from today I will be in Negril.......and I am so excited. I will be driving my roommates crazy.....since that is all I usually talk about!!! Yay!!! Now some friends are talking about coming along.....and I told them that they will probably be addicted to Negril just like I am!!!
Hey Lia i know how it is this will be my 4yr in a row going and my first two week strait trip. My girlfriend loves to go to but she isnt quite as excited as i am she hates that i talk about it all the time. I am planning to go two times next year. ADDICTED!!!!!!:cool:
My boyfriend is supposed to come with me this time.....but I am not holding my breath. Regardless of him being there or not......I always have a wonderful time. Looking forward to walking the beach.......every morning and every evening!!!

I know just what you mean...the first time it happened to me, I was walking in Sav-La-Mar and I heard someone calling my name. Initially, I didn't respond - after all, I was in a foreign country, surely there was other Susans...but then I looked up and it was Del from Green Leaf going by in a taxi, waving out the window "I'll see you tomorrow! Welcome back!" Now stuff like that happens every time I come, but it never gets tired.Quote:

We go twice a year. The other day I said to hubby why don't we give up one of the Negril trips next year and do a vacation in the USA. He looked at me like I have 3 heads so I guess I got my answer.

Next year my daughter wants me to take her to Cuba or Dominican since she has been to Negril with me before.....wondering how I will be able to change her mind. She only likes to do the All Inclusive thing being 18 while I am happy finding a quiet place somewhere like Miss Normas Guesthouse and seeing how Jamaican families live. Walking up and down the beach and relaxing and meeting new people is more my thing.
Why not do a trip to Jamaica for a bit and then fly to Cuba from Jamaica?
That would be a possibility!!!
I can totally relate...Since 2006 I've been to Negril 12 x's and my hubby 10x's. It will be my 13th visit in March...Woohoo!
