About Canoe Bar.......
Canoe Beach Bar and Grill, in Negril, Jamaica was opened in December 2008 on a shoestring. There have only ever been - and only ever will be - two partners, Kirby and myself, silent or otherwise.
We use only fresh locally sourced food, especially fish, and focus on grilling. We use no MSG or other additives and we shop often ensuring maximum freshness.
All of our desserts are homemade, including our signature 'Pineapple Chill", most of them in house.
We have a live wecast with realnegril.com, Rob and Lisa, every Thursday, with a live steel pan band in high season (Oct-may)
We expanded our kitchen and seating last year, and plan on adding a bathroom and bigger bar area this year.
We serve a variety of two for one drinks during our daily happy hour (2-6pm) as well as a truly wicked rum punch. We hope you will drop by if you can and check us out sometime. :)

Re: About Canoe Bar.......
AS you head to the westend past the Sunshine Village (where the Hilo is) you go around the crazy curve in fron t of the church past the Negril Hardware and habadashery, keep going and watch on the right for the yellow wood sided building with blue trim! If you get to a red building with a swordfish sign out front you went too far! Turn around and go back!

Two years ago my friend Alex was snorkling on a reef outside Canoe and found a statue of an indian god of wealth Ganesha on the sea bottom! Definetly the place is blessed :-)

Patty, what time does the steel band begin playing? I'll need to go for lunch/afternoon on my next trip and wondering if we'll catch hearing the band?
Thanks! :)

Can any one tell me if it is "walkable" from Home Sweet Home?
-
Re: About Canoe Bar.......
Easily walkable from HSH! About a 10 minute walk.

When we stayed at HSH we took a cab to Canoe the night we went. However, it is certainly walkable. I'd say it's probably a 10 to 15 minute walk. Not bad during the day, but it might be a little tricky at night with the crazy drivers on the west end road.
With PeeWee's, No Limit and C&D so close to HSH, we never really got too far on foot.

Re: About Canoe Bar.......
Looking forward to our first visit this December to Canoe.

[QUOTE=patty_k;62252]Canoe Beach Bar and Grill, in Negril, Jamaica was opened in December 2008 on a shoestring.
Patty, hmmmmmm I think it was December 2007 or maybe January 2008. The last time I was in Jamaica was November 2008 and I had enjoyed many fine meals and excellent hospitality with you and Kirby.....
What I remember is you opened shortly after I had left the Island and I couldn't wait to get back to check out "THE NEW HOT SPOT". Definitely was an enjoyable experience when I returned in November 2008.
I think the next Birthday party is your fifth year in business???
This is an link from da old board. Looks like January 2008.

Re: About Canoe Bar.......
Thanks, we wouldn't even consider walking at night but I'm thinking it might be nice to walk there before sunset and taxi back.
