Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
It's a chronic disease, Negrilmania. I myself suffer from the Westenditis variant. My support group says the first step is acceptance. I thought they might be wrong but then I looked at my signature line and noticed there were TWO TRIP TICKERS where just a few weeks ago there were none. Please be careful, I understand it's highly contagious...

I suffer myself, at first I was in denial now I have accepted the fact!
Mine is not just Negril related it covers the whole island I have what is commonly known as JAfever.
Manic episodes occur when there are no tickers at all, until there is a ticker, once there you fight NOT to return home once home you fight to return, Hotelitis is a concerning part of Jafever it makes you want to stay in every hotel room island wide, and if you manage to complete that mammoth task you have to start again as lots of hotels and rooms will have been changed by then.So far there is no cure and at this moment in time I have no trip ticker.

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
I suffer from this illness as well....in fact, my version may be so severe that I have now become a carrier or even a "Pusher" of that said disease
And for that......I am NOT sorry! LOL

Go to tickerfactory.com and make one (follow their directions). Then put in the site under your signature. Good Luck.

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
I heard that this contagious disease is contracted by smiling faces! So if you have a constant "screwface"....you may possibly survive. AND, withdrawal symptoms begin on the road back to the airport!! The pain during withdrawal is not alleviated ever....it only becomes a little less intense. So, be careful!

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
This disease seems to work pretty quick. I think I was infected the first moment my feet touched the sand, though I didn't know it until PNS kicked in on the way home! If it wasn't for the passion all these boardies share for the place, I think I would wonder if I had only imagined the magic that is Negril. Once you go you know...I can't wait to know again...

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
Yah well . . .
Recognizing and admitting the problem is the 1st step.
Fortunately, treatments are readily available.
There's negril.com (Yah, Rob!) Without which I would shrivel up and die.
Try: Books (read and write), movies, music, YouTube, local Jamaican restaurants . . .
Then, of course, trips to Negril (My treatments are up to 6 weeks a year now.)
Next session, Jan 30 - March 13.

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
Right on, Guirigay! I'm close to adding a second ticker for April.
I think an intervention is in order.
-
Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
Woo Hoo.....I say book that trip for April Mike and you can join our meeting! LOL
Wait you are going for your anniversary in 1 month and 5 days? When is your anniversay?
Ours is October 10th!

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
A new pandemic...High-ly contagious...The Turtle flu...A persistent new viral infection that seems to have started on the island of Jamaica...symptoms seem to increase as infected individuals get farther away from Jamaica...Varied symptoms include irritability, depression, and an obsessive desire to return to the island at any cost...persons with this virus often refuse treatment claiming that they "Don't need to be cured"

Me too girl!!
Well, like K3 said: Recognizing and admitting the problem is the first step.
I have the same affliction as all of you. I have it real bad.
My first trip to Negril was 16 months ago. I don’t even want to say my number now.
It doesn't help that I'm very close friends now with "Typhoid Marley" who has the most contagious strand of "turtle flu". Booger and Guirigay have a really infectious strand too. Keep your distance! lol!;)
You’ll notice that I don’t have a ticker right now. That’s because I'm trying to fight it…
but It's so hard...because this disease causes so much happiness in my life.... I don't know what to do....

Ours is October 10th!
Marley, that's my goal! We're hoping to be there for the big Boardie meet-up, and of course the Boardie Bash.
Our anniversary is actually on October 31st, but it looks like we're leaving on your anniversary. My wife's birthday is on 10/14, so this is kind of a dual celebration for us.

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
Back 2 days from a 21 day stay.... My passport was stamped allowing me to stay to November 13th, too bad it didn't say. "Juli you are not allowed to return home until November 13th!!!"
Really, I found someone to thread my earbrows ($20.00), facial (honey & cornmeal), why come home? Oh! yes, work.... I need money. See you all in December for treatment for this addiction

Fantastic! I like your wife already...my birthday is October 13th! Thats why we usually spend this time in Negril....we can celebrate our anniversary and my birthday all in one week (that wasn't necessarily a coincidence LOL)
I sure hope you guys make it to the Boardie Bash, would love to meet you both...since apparently I missed out on the night you met Tiz and Boogs in the Stupid room....I am trying to remember what we did that night....oh I think that was the night we all got separated after the Bellyflop
Anyways.....hope to see you there in April...in the meantime party it up hard for us in October....I will sure miss not being there
And Happy Bday Mrs D...and happy anniversary as well!

Take it easy Booger

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
I've heard there is no "cure" for this addiction - only continuous treatment, such as the loving support of fellow boardies and I've found booking my next trip before I leave current one helps the painful "leaving the island syndrome".

I hope no one finds a cure!!!! I gotta disease and I like it!!!
Congrats on the two tickers Guirgay!!! I sure wish Gary & I could figure out a way to go at Christmas/NYE. I don't think these 5 youngins' would appreciate the Christmas tree being empty!

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
That's why we have the message board, guys. It's here to support us in our addiction. We can share symtoms and treatments. Mine has a slight violent manifestation - when I read about people going and I'm not, I tend to yell I HATE YOU really loudly at the screen! Especially when it's freakin' -30 here at home! But I'm learning to deal with it. Appleton helps; eating a mango helps, but Appleton is better, really. It takes the edge off! Webcasts are good, too, particularly if coupled with a chat and Appleton!!!
We are all in the same boat - or maybe mentally on the same island in our minds. It's not such a bad thing. I mean, it could be worse. Everyone has their cross to bear, and this is ours. Wow.
And I'm gonna put myself out there for all of you. If you ever just have to go, and are afraid, just buy me a ticket (one way would work!) and I will go there and be there with you! I know. It's the ultimate giving and sacrifice, but I'd do it for my friends ...... it's just who I am!
So many people; one addiction! It's something in the sand or the palm trees. Or maybe something in the water.
One love!

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
Gary? What happened to Greg, Sandra! :) Or did you lose him on the flight back! When our kids got old enough they came to us in April after a March trip and said "What do we have to do to get to Jamaica for Christmas". And they did! AND it got the whole family out of the whole "buy buy buy presents presents presents" thing. We don't do that anymore. Not since Christmas in Jamaica 2008, I think it was ...maybe 2007. And 2009. We are going again 26 Jan - and again late June. (it's getting worse! oh noooooo ...)! Hope we see you one of those reaches!

Re: Hello, My Name is Guirigay, and I have a problem...
I miss Greg! I think I might be mentally cheating on Gary bc I love Greg so much more! I must get back to Negril so Greg & I can be together again! :)

I'm loving ALL the replies here but this one, well, freakin' hilarious. Just remember steph, Greg is in there somewhere, you just need to coax him out and I'll bet you know a few of the releases! REALLY looking forward to Catcha in the spring and getting to meet you 4 (Gary, Steph, Greg and Sandy) :)
