Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
I e-mailed in June asking to use my timeshare in August and received a reply back that the hotel/timeshare was fully booked the entire month of July and August. Upon arrival I paid a visit to the hotel daily and never saw more than 10-12 people on the property. I asked at the front desk and the staff acknowledged they were no were near booked and had no explanation as to why I was told this. I have since arrived home and found the e-mail received in June, and forwarded it to the e-mail address of years and have yet to receive a response or a reply to a new request for March 2013. Does anyone know what's going on?

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Not sure what is going on with the timeshares but Yvonne would probably have a good idea. I know that RCI stopped exchanging with them awhile ago and they are also no longer selling timeshares.
Are you emailing Daune McNeil at negrilinterval@cwjamaica.com? Here's the number 876-957-9105

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Daune left NBC about a year ago, last time I received a response in June was from Nadine ( Alicia also answered at times prior to that). The Timeshare office is abandoned and their new location is behind the front desk. I heard that they no longer deal with RCI from another guest on the beach when I was there Aug 19-28th. I paid my condo fees on time for years and they actually owe me a week now from RED time in March 2012 I did not use. I don't hold much hope for a phone responsiveness when I showed up in person and got blank stares.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
I was there first week in August and did notice the timeshare office was closed but didn't realize they moved behind the hotel front desk. I thought they were just closed for that moment.
Did you have a membership with RCI with Negril Beach Club listed? Even though I never exchanged my week through RCI, it was still listed and it was RCI who notified me about the severed relationship but no explanation why.
I hope this is resolved soon for you.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
No time to respond now but will get back tomorrow. I have some answers, probably not all though.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Yes, the timeshare space is empty no furniture at all, only the familiar timeshare board remained. I did not belong to RCI and like you never wanted to trade which is why I bought RED time. Both ladies came from the room to the left behind the front desk, I know both of them well they knew my name but not I did not know their names ( my bad) . I do believe one was the manager of the hotel, the other may have been involved in the time share. Both looked at me when I asked what was going on,then looked at each other and looked away. The body language was telltale. Yvonne ( not sure her relationship to all of this) . posted but will try to explain in a pending post she said she'd make today.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
I did see that timeshare board but never peeked in the office. The manager of the hotel is in place while Raz Ofer is off the island.
Yvonne is also a timeshare owner and has a bunch of weeks so she is probably well aware of what is going on. It's a shame this is happening. I wonder if reaching out to Jean Gaynair, condo manager and not affiliated with the timeshares but she might be able to shed some light of what is going on or try to help with your March reservation.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Id be intrested in what's going on as well.. My time there is not until Feb (week 7) and it is the last year of the timeshare contract. I know there are issues with the new owner Raz Ofer.. the links below are old but true enough. Last yea people were showing up only to have there time share rented out by the hotel, others that booked with the hotel only to arrive and have no room and bused down to Chuckles in town.

Folks - please be aware that the links posted by Gwhizman are 4 and 5 years old....

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Thank you, Rob. Raz is still a major player when it comes to what is going on at the Beach Club, just in different ways. I prefer not to post on the board - also busy as heck - so would prefer to answer via e-mail. Please e-mail me directly, not via PM... too techie for me. You will NOT get a response there these days. My life is already complicated enough which is why I seldom post. It may take a few days but bear w/ me. I'm not really retired in my retirement. ykreedfla@aol.com Thank you. Your patience is appreciated.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
A little bit of info. No idea why TS weeks are not being honored. The last year for use is 2017. RCI dropped their affiliation several years ago... only deal w/ 4-5 star properties is what I heard. The TS/NIOC office was moved so their previous location off the lobby could be rented out to an outside business to generate more income for the hotel. Raz is pretty much in control of NIOC - not just the hotel - so does book TS rooms for bookings the hotel gets online. I understand that if an owner does not pay fees in advance & does not confirm their dates, their unit may not be available. This was the case when I was there in Feb (stayed in one of the NBCC rooms then, not NIOC/TS room). I always confirm dates & pay in advance so never an issue for me. Lee... I have no clue why your weeks weren't honored. Nadine would be the one to ask. So much more but not going to post it here.

Just read the articles from the links. Same stuff going on at our favorite place. W/ out notifying owners they have to confirm & pay annual fees in advance, their TS weeks were rented out, obviously at a profit for the hotel; also LOTS of overbooking in high season... sent to sister property in town, now called Caribbean Sunset Resort. Somehow Ofer now is over the TS part of the hotel as well as the hotel side, which is all he was managing to begin with. I don't know what's up w/ that. You need to e-mail me if you want to know more. Although I know a lot that's fact, because it's negative I prefer not to post it here.

If you're choosing to protect the property/situation from negativity...that's your choice & I understand.
But, if it's facts you have and they'd be helpful to others in the same situation...maybe you should think about posting the information here.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
I had a room reservation this past Feb. However when I arrived I was told it was full and no room for me :( I did receive a refund however this did leave me with a bad taste for this location.

I can totally understand you feeling like this as I too would be ticked so rather than not go there again, next time rent through Jean Gaynair. I was a timeshare owner but now always book through Jean. Jean and her staff will ensure that your vacation is without any hassles and your room will be ready and waiting!

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Jean is a nice woman...last time we stayed there I sent her $100.00 deposit which we normally don't do.......and it was a few months ahead...I had completely forgotten it.........on our last day Jean sent for me....as I walked up to her office she handed me a US 100 !!!!..with a smile and said "Hurry Back"
NOW THATS A HONEST PERSON!

I haven't been on the board for months....how ironic I come back to this thread.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
OK, here goes. Beach Club info from an e-mail to some boardies here, a bit edited. Facts plus, where noted, my opinion. There may be some duplication of info I posted earlier although I tried to edit out most of that. I have removed some names & left out some info that was in the e-mail. I feel for Jean who is a wonderful person, an honest business woman, & who operates a great business at NBCC. I would not hesitate to stay w/ her when my timeshares are used. I aready stay there when it's not my TS time, have for years. What follows pertains to the hotel & timeshares, not NBCC. Considering this is what has been going on, NBCC continues to operate professionally & to have many happy repeat customers.
Raz Ofer seems to want to take over the whole property - impossible due to many individual owners - & has been "ruling" the hotel & NIOC by intimidation (my opinion). True, no more TS are being sold but they are honoring those owned as long as the fees are paid in advance. The last year for use is 2017. In addition to renting out TS rooms, Raz also overbooks & then sends guests up to the rat hole Caribbean Sunset Resort in town. Lots of pissed off people when I was there in Feb for a variety of reasons.
Raz Ofer... IMHO he is destroying the property &/or allowing it to go down the tubes. Since he took over he has not paid any Strata fees (think condo fees). He rents his rooms cheap, rents out TS rooms (gets more $$$ that way than having the TS owner pay fees, esp. in high season), then pockets the $$$. I know there is legal action re: Strata fees but the wheels of justice turn slowly. Raz has a cousin who "runs" the hotel/NIOC for him/does his bidding. The property was tiefing current earlier this year (caught in March or April). They had to pay 6 months of owed bills before the power was allowed to be turned on. While that was being resolved, they rented a generator to run the property & that was seized because they weren't paying the bill!!! Don't know how the electric bill was paid. The monthly fees for condo owners have increased drastically as have our TS maintenance fees... all thanks to Raz paying NOTHING!!! Other businesses on the property, as of summer, owe LOTS of $$$ in back rent. Not paying bills seems to be accepted, espec. by Raz since he doesn't pay his either. It's a hot mess.
The no $$$ being put into the property is because of Raz. Help is routinely "on rotation" (laid off), only given 3-4 days of work per week, one housekeeper daily even during high season (usually 3), etc. It sucks for the workers. The property is not kept up because Ofer does NOT care. He only wants the $$$.

Very true, Rambo. That's why I keep hanging in there. It's a great property w/ a great location & staff... both NBCC & the timeshare/hotel side. Part of its charm is the vibe of being a long time entity on Negril's beautiful beach. I enjoy the many, many positives of the Beach Club, live w/ the other stuff. Since I have many friends who work there or live in the condos there, also because my stays are fairly long, it's hard NOT to see & know what is going on. As long as the property is in business, that's where I'll be.
I'm still curious about the lack of response to the request of TS use. That's never been an issue for me, perhaps because of my long stays for many years. I even get phone calls from there if there's a question, as well as e-mails promptly (1-2 days :-) answered. If anything, I wish I could spend MORE time there but life doesn't allow that luxury at this point in time.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???

There is no question that I 100% agree with your post!! I have only had positive experiences on every vacation to NBCC and it has always been my one and only choice property. I am loyal to NBCC but my concerns are now extremely high - NOT with NBCC but with the overall property in general.
While anybody who rents from Jean can be certain that they will have a confirmed reservation and a clean unit but what about the shared facilities (grounds, restaurant/bar and security)?? Obviously, hands are tied but as a condo renter who enjoys the entire property and not just my unit, I noticed a drastic negative change in the upkeep of the property from my Nov 2011 trip to my Dec/Jan 2011/2012 trip to my most recent trip in August 2012. I now understand better why this is happening but it does not alleviate my concerns. It's also sad that some of those laid off are my friends - when I was first told by them, I assumed they were laid off b/c of the slow season but as more info has been revealed to them and to us, it's now a fact that Raz just isn't paying Strata who now can't pay their employees. This isn't NBCC fault at all, but they are and have been affected by this.
What is the solution to his strong arm tactics and Raz just wanting the money? What confirmations can be made to condo renters that we will have electricity and water, a clean beach, that we can feel secure with a security team, that we will be able to go to the restaurant or bar for food/drinks?
I really hope this is resolved soon....

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
"Ofer pleaded guilty [in July 2009] to grand larceny and faces up to 25 years in prison unless he pays the taxes plus half a million dollars in interest and penalties." http://www.nypost.com/p/news/regiona...61oT5tPM....an old article but speaks volumes to this man's character
How in the world did he get involved with the purchase of his shares of Negril Beach Club resort?? What are his plans for the property knowing that he cannot take over the condos. I just remembered I met a couple in Dec/Jan who were owners of a condo and had been for years. When Raz got involved he tried his strong arm tactics with getting them to sell. They basically told him to go to H-E-double hockey sticks.

How did he get involved? Great question. All I heard from the previous management is that he comes from one of the wealthiest families in Israel. OK. So what? Had they done a Google search they could have learned his vacation rentals are scams & he's a bad guy to deal w/ financially. They just wanted out & apparently didn't do any background check on the guy. No integrity, obvious con man. Strong arm tactics... very true. He will NOT take no for an answer. Apparently he thought he was getting the whole property in the deal & that's what he wants, everything. Somehow he's managed to get hold of NIOC. Individually owned condos... that's a lot of people he's going to have to break down. Hmmmmm... maybe that's part of his plan in not paying the Strata fees. Just thought of that possibility. Break the owners down financially. Still, he'll have dozens of units he'd have to purchase. I have no idea where this mess is going or how it will play out in the long run. Sad that it's been allowed to go on this long. I really feel for my friends who work there. They barely make enough to take a taxi back & forth to work. Then there's rent, food, school fees, clothing for their children, etc., etc.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Thanks Yvonne. Its. Monday Sept 10. 2012 I still have heard nothing back from my multiple e-mails. This has left me wondering if the previously honored FLEXing of my week FROM 2012 March is down the tubes - despite my having walked over there in February and paid them in person.

At 1:46 today I received a first unsigned e-mail response from negrilinterval@cwjamaica.com stating they " would check availability and get back to me". I immediately responded within about 5 minutes and asked " with whom I was dialoguing?" and no one answered back as of yet ( 4:4pm)

Lee... be persistent! Seriously, call, e-mail & don't let up. Try e-mailing Nadine in the subject line, that way you'll know who you're corresponding with. Ask for a phone # so you can call her. The # previously posted is the last one I have. I also have Nadine's personal cell # but don't feel comfortable giving it out. Hang in there!

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Oh I will. I've had this timeshare now 19 years used to this kind of thing every so often.

Re: Negril Beach Club - What's Going on ???
Got to be fair. I HAVE received a response to my request for 2013 over the weekend (from Nadine ). Sorry but no response as to why I was told the place was fully booked in August when it was not full, so I cannot provide closure there.
