Head down to LTU for Aubie's last night. Eddie's Debar is good after that and if you are still going hit MiYard.
Route Taxi !!!
never stayed on the beach- so whats this "nightlife" you speak of? haha
thanks booger for the suggestions... we walked to LTU before I posted...11pm and only 2-3 people there...the night before we walked past LTU and was stopped by the police, telling us not safe to walk up there at night, to go back to catcha and walk in the daylight...then was just walking around catcha and the security said it might be best to check out the place in morning....wait, I am 50 and just want to continue the explorations....it isn't just the parties that we go to, wife and I like to walk, and like the interactions on the beach, to a point of course....nothing better than sitting on the beach chair, enjoying the sounds, the people, and of course the subs.....doesn't matter to me day or night, just enjoy the beach...
Take a taxi to the beach and stop by the place where you stayed before (unless it was an A/I compound). Greet the staff and have a drink and or snack and you will probably be welcome to hang out.
Wish I could help. I just don't have that problem! :)
How you guys had the energy to continue on last night is beyond me! After a shower I think I was asleep in about 10 minutes!
I had to read your post a few times and my jaw was hangin. You are at Catcha and want to get away? For me that place is home and my favorite place in Negril. And I am a CLIFF person all the way - I cannot get enough of the peace and view from there. I can't manage all the activity on the beach except during the day for a few hours. But we all have our own view of vacation so I understand.
Were you just tryin out the cliffs? You can move to the beach or taxi down to party. The police gave good advice about walking along West End in the dark - the drivers go very fast and don't leave much room to walk so you have to be sharp at all times. Legitimate route taxis are the way to go. Lots of fun to be had on West End and ask around for live music too. Big venues are on the beach but just minutes away. And there is always the webcasts on RealNegril.com - they are a blast.
You want to have the very best vacation so I would move if I was unhappy or just make note for next time. I hope you have a blast every day you are there (and hope you will share with a trip report maybe?) Bless
I'm a beach guy but have to go to the cliffs at night. Once you get the taxi thing down you are free!
thanks for the suggestions....not really complaining, just looking for suggestions....janet loves the beauty, and the peace, me on the other hand, I feel like I am gonna miss something if i sit still, I can rest at home....as the other members of the sept crew can tell u, I get to a place, then disappear for a few , explore, take pics, taking it all in, as two4today would say,....we were just looking for a place to top off the day, thats all....I know I can get down to the beach, but just wanted to party close to where we were...we will be back down tommorrow, and seastar party should do us tonight....
sweetness, we came to jamaica the 1st time in 2009, and u had just stayed at the grand pineapple, ur trip report was one of the things that put janet over the top...our report from that stay linked below...this is our 1st cliff stay, mixed in 3 days to see if we like it...but we are for sure beach bums....oh well, off to the water for another jump and swim...Im fine in the daytime
groove how cool about my stay at GP (RIP). That was really out of the box for me and I loved it there but never wondered off the property beach-wise. its cool how we all enJOY our reaches differently. I am a yardie I admit it. I too feel the need to soak up as much of Jamaica as I can when I am there so I can relate. And rub it in why dont you (lol).....enjoy your swim. No Limit Bar is fun as well as JamCan and Bella Donna (good food too) and although touristy - Ricks is fun people watchin and has live music as you know I am sure. I also love to hang at Seaview picnic tables on the corner of downtown before HiLo plaza.
Some people prefer the beach and others prefer the cliffs. That's the beauty of Negril - there is something for everybody. If you enjoy wandering around at night, on foot, then the beach might be a more suitable place to stay. As other have said, most cliff dwellers get used to taking taxis at night. Of course, if you are going to take a taxi, then you also have the option of going to the beach for a couple dollars more.
Many cliff hotels also have one or two bars nearby that you can safely walk to at night. When we stayed at Home Sweet Home, C&D was practically across the street so we ended a couple nights there. Of course the nightlife vibe at the smaller West End spots will not be the same as a place Alfred's or Bourbon Beach. LTU is pretty close to Catcha. I wouldn't be afraid to stop in there for a nightcap, even if there are only a few people around.
Hope the rest of your trip is awesome!
Geez....we must have just missed you both...we were at Catcha & then meandering around the neighborhood!! Ya...wandering around anywhere at 11pm isn't the best idea...grab that cab! :)
No worries though....you'll be busy tonight at Seastar...cya there peeps!!!
