Love is in the Air - October Reach ~~~

:cool: I am excited to share that I WILL be going to Negril in October (actually end of Sept to third week in October probably). I will add my dates to the Roll Call when I confirm. :cool:

Many of you know my Jamaican fiancee Kevin and we finally have our K1 visa interview date at the US Embassy in Kingston on October 12th. We met in Negril over eight years ago and have cultivated our relationship over that time. Our families and best friends have met each other - we were even blessed to see each other two years in a row in Niagra Falls Canada where he was working with the Jamaican Farm Program. We filed last November and although it is a tedious process its worth it in our eyes. We will go that day prepared and full of hope and it will be up to the officer whether we will be approved. If approved, we would fly to my home in Austin and will marry within 90 days (trying not to think that far ahead though lol). We know it is with a higher power.

So I will be coming soon to Negril to help with the preparation steps. This will be a "bidness" trip LOL but trus mi I will enjoy every moment. If its in your heart, Me and Kevin would humbly appreciate any good thoughts on you might send up on October 12th.

@garysteph - yes we have both had to be very strong and committed. It truly was love at first sight but has taken years of sharing life experiences to really know each other. Spending time together long term was key too - you never know if you can peacefully coexist without that test. :eek:

@Patty - blushing over here....you are so wise - you are right about both of us having all the blessings we need and more but thanks for sending a few more our way for good measure - I love you lady. Sorry to rain on your wedding swim suit parade but the wedding must be in US and Kevin will not be able to travel for awhile until we complete even more paperwork on the US side. I will miss you all in December but we would love to do a live chat with everyone somehow so think about that OK. BUT I am hopefully our first trip back to JA together will be in April!!!! Bless!

Hello Sweetness, I tend to pop in here and lurk rather than post but just had to reply to this thread.
A little background, my x Jamaican partner of 33 years and I have 4 great kids. The eldest daughter married her Jamaican partner 2 years ago. Having the first visa app refused and of course no refund of fee for refusal, they wanted to strengthen the second. Apart from the stress of these applications they are expensive.
We as in ma and pa, friends and fam wrote letters supporting the union, included photos of us, (friends and family) with my son in law in Jamaica over their courtship years and of course wedding. along with photocopies of all our passports.This time they were successful and granted a 2 year visa enabling my son in law to work in UK. Unfortunately they will have to reapply in another few months and of course another £1000 plus fee. I suppose what I'm suggesting is cover every base you can think of, and have as much evidence from family and friends supporting your relationship as you can carry. Photocopies of passport of those giving written support are needed to prove authenticity. Good luck and congrats Jo x

@Jay - thank you so much for posting and for the valuable information. We have submitted a mountain of documentation/support already just to get approved on the US side and we will go armed with another mountain of backup. Luckily I am a paralegal and always overdo it so we will have what you mention and more. Still up to the powers that be so I am not counting on approval but I am hopeful. Refusal can be for many reasons so we are trying to not give them any reason to deny - but still.......you never know - it will be a big day. If you want to share more on the reasons for refusal their first try you can IM me but thanks for the congrats and well wishes - we sincerely appreciate it.

Sweetness - I don't know you well, so I had no idea that you were in a long-distance relationship. I am SO excited for you! I will be eager to hear how things work out for you and Kevin, and I wish you all the best. You are a special woman and Kevin is one lucky man. Please keep us updated.

Funny how that is with boardies. thru our posts over the years we learn about each other and form bonds even if we haven't met or briefly met. thank you for your kind words. I have been reading this board for a long time now and it's funny how you get to "know" people and from what I have come to "know" about you, your name says it all and am so happy and excited for you.
