Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Welcome and congratulations! I have no experience with HSH other than touring the property years ago, but we got married just up the road at the Blue Cave Castle. It was awesome. We reserved the whole property for a week and filled it with family and friends.
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
I'll second Ed's recommendation. I have no plans to marry a 4th time (!), but if I did, it would be at Blue Cave Castle. BCC has more room for a ceremony, too. Respect --Marblehead
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Thank you both. I love the BCC however, they require you to stay on the property and we will have too many guests to make that an option.
If you are aware of any other places besides HSH that allow weddings without room reservations, I'm all ears!
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
We had about 70 guests most of whom stayed elsewhere. Book yourself a room and party down. Where ever you choose I'm sure it will be magical and wonderful. How can it not be, you're getting married in paradise!
Every blessing,
Ed
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Negril Escape will do a wedding without you staying on property
I bet Catcha Falling Star would too
And those are two great places for weddings.....I speak from experience :)
Both properties will go out of their way to make your day special
Can't say enough good things about either staff!
from one Negril Bride to another, congrats! My only real word of advice is "Don't plan your wedding during hurricane season" ;)
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Thank you all for your responses!
I'm following up with both Negril Escape and Catcha Falling Star (and praying that Catcha will allow non-guest weddings)!
As of now, we're planning for mid-late Novemebr which I realize is still hurricane season... Marley: any words of advice on this? Where did you have your wedding?
Has anyone ever visited Home Sweet Home, would love to know if they even have the set up for a wedding.
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Mid-November *might* be ok, but technically Hurricane Season is thru Nov. 30
However, Mid-November is much better than Mid-October
We had our wedding on 10-10-10
We had the entire property booked at Catcha Falling Star for almost a year in advance and planned every last detail with Andrea and Mauvette who are AMAZING...as is all of the staff.
It was my dream wedding in my favorite place on earth and I couldn't wait
But then on Sept 29/30, 2010, Tropical Storm Nicole hit Jamaica HARD and did A LOT of damage to the cliffs but especially to Catcha Falling Star (and also Tensing Pen-where we were honeymooning)
Catcha called me on Oct. 1st and told me there was too much damage to the property and that they would not be able to have my wedding (or even house my 30 guests)
I was devastated. Seriously, the worst day of my life!
But they didn't give up. They called around and worked hard trying to help me find another place to stay and get married.
We were to arrive on Oct. 6th so we had basically 5 days to replan our entire wedding from scratch
Negril Escape to the rescue. They said yes and they did it! Even with their own damage to their property. They worked night and day, fixing the place up, repainting, even traveling to Mobay for flowers
They were amazing. True life savers
In the end, it was definitely not the ideal or dream wedding I had been planning for over a year (or even over a lifetime) There was rain, storm damage, no beautiful flowers that you are used to, no crystal clear water, etc
But what I did have was:
Two amazing staffs that did everything they could to make sure this wedding happened and that my friends and family were taken care of
and even more importantly....the man of my dreams to marry me in my most favorite place on earth
In the end, that is all that truly matters
I think Catcha will accomodate you, reach out to Andrea and Mauvette, they are amazing
And their vendors are fantastic.
For Flowers I can't say enough good things about Floral Fantasy in Negril and they have Opa? at Roots Cafe make their wedding cakes and they are AMAZING!
Excited for you!
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Thank you for the review.
I will look into both Catcha and Negril Escape. Both look like beautiful places! Let's cross our fingers that Hurricane Season doesn't interefere with November of next year! LOL. Sounds like you made the best of it though and had a truly wonderful time. Also sounds like Negril Escape really went the extra mile to give you what they could on such short notice.
Ah, the difficulties with planning a wedding so far away! Thanks for all the info!

Mike_D's current trip report is from a stay that included HSH. I did a trip report from a stay at HSH back in February. Here's a link to it - http://negril.com/forum/showthread.p...ox-in-Paradise The grounds are very compact but I would think you could arrange something in the yard and restaurant for 20-30 people. Believe me, I've thought about being married on the cliff decks at HSH, they are amazing.
Re: Home Sweet Home Wedding
Hello Guirigay: I'm just in the middle of your review. It does seem like an amazing place! I think we may be looking at having 50 - 60 people at our wedding so the small size may be a problem. I'll have to check into it with the staff at HSH to make sure that is ok I guess.
Thank you for your help!
