~~ Sweetness Trip Report - Love is in the Air & on the Ground

After the WONDERFUL Cricket World Cup had some patties from Out of Town pastry including hot fresh Coco bread. Then spent some time chillin by the pool under an orchid tree that smells so SWEET. Then I hear and see two Doctor Birds mid air in an......"embrace".......flutter flutter and boom they hit the ground pretty hard and just laid still like they were dead......but oh no they were not even close to dead........got close and snapped pics and still no moving.......then they both gently got up and flew up into the tree. WOW Ya neva know what you gonna see in Jamaica next.....nah tru?

That pic of the doctor birds is phenomenal!! Pon our last reach, we were lucky enough to see that happen only one time. I remember asking Jane wah gwan and she explained the "love dance". The gardens there are so peaceful and grand. Almost at 2 months before returning....thanks for making it easier!! :)

Lorax - two males? - my JA friend say these were male and female and there is a ritual of both going up in the air together and the man must hang on even when they hit ground so hard in order to win the prize lol or someting like that lol

The pictures of the Dr birds are awesome! They do appear to be both male though as only the males have the long signiture tales, the females do not. They were probably showing off for a nearby female. Typical men :) Been lovin your report and pics!

Appearance
The mature male has two distinctive long tails which stream behind him when he flies. The pair of wings next to the tail feathers extend aboud 15cm from its back, these are usually crossed. The female does not have long feathers forming a tail but has shorter tail feathers with a white tip.

These two have taken the chest bump to a whole new level. I see a new boardie man greeting in the near future: Major chest bump followed by lovely ladies looking down wondering if they'll ever get up. When they finally rise there will be scoring for "Dr.BirdBump of the Day"!
