Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Hi there, we are coming to Negril again in November and I am having no luck getting an email response back from Banmark. I've made 3 attempts in the last month to contact Banmark by email. We have used Banmark many times in the past.
I would prefer to handle the reservation by email rather than making an international call if I can avoid it.
Can anyone tell me if Banmark is still open?
I hate to take my busines elsewhere, but if any of you out there know of another good rental place please let me know. I contacted Seastar but they no longer rent scooters.
Thanks All,
CC

believe it or not some places and businesses in Jamaica still use the phone versus email to conduct most of their business........
so pickup your phone and call them.....pretty simple......they were open when I was there recently
the Cambio has the best rates on the West End too..........
Cool Runnings, Marko
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
You know I was just asking a question Marko, you didn't have to be rude. I realize not everyone has email in Jamaica, but I have done business via email with Banmark for years and he always responded. We have not been able to take a vacation in several years so I wasn't sure if Banmark was still in business.
Give a girl a break please.

Oh boy....the prob of not knowing the personality behind the written/forum word sometimes...:)
CC...I didn't read Marko as being rude...read it as trying to be helpful....but I've also met Marko a few times.
I'll try to get hold of Rob...he's in the area...have him check what's up with Banmark not answering.
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Banmark is a good guy...I too rec. calling them directly.... also, Marko is a good guy too !!
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
If all else fails, i don't think you even need a reservation. Just stop in, if not at Banmark there is Tykes, Elvis and Prento, all of whom have been around a long time ....

CC,
Marko aka Hypolite meant no disrespect. Unfortunately he is from my hometown of Boston and sarcasm is a familiar speech pattern.
Good luck,

Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
You'll likely be able to negotiate a better price by just showing up. November isn't very busy so you'll have no trouble being able to rent one.
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Sorry Marko, if I read you wrong.
Bnewbie...thank you for asking Rob to check into the email. Normally, the owner is quick to respond and its nice to have a reservation when at all possible. I figured coming during or near the holiday season it would be busy and we would be better off to have a reservation. But maybe I am wrong. This is first time we have come to Negril in the fall/start of winter.
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Banmark is surprised that they didnt receive the emails. He and I are working to resolve the issue. When we do - I will let you (CC) know to resend your email.
Please stand by.... (grin)
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Rob,
I received an email from Mark @ Banmark....Thanks Rob for your help.
Mark is no longer renting scooters he told me in his email. He is moving more towards selling than renting.
I will contact Jah's and see if they have availability for November rentals.
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
CC its the slow season and each and every bike rental place will be full of bikes to chose from-no need to pre book. Plus you may be able to negotiate a better rate face to face. Respect
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Elvis is great, he never runs out of bikes. If all else fails, there is always Gas .....
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
In November there will be little difficulty in renting a scooter for a reasonable price from any of several reputable rental places. This is still low season, remember that when you negotiate your rental. You should easily be able to get a one week scooter rental for $200 OR LESS depending on your negotiating skills! Jamaicans are very smooth negotiators.
And although I have not had the pleasure of meeting Marko, in his postings he comes across as a helpful, informative good guy!
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
I've been using Prento motorcycle/scooter rentals for the last 7 years. He's across from Negril Gardens Resot...I always rent a big bike (Honda Shadow) for 5 weeks. He's always treated me right & I always call ahead & reserve my bike cause I come in high season. His personal cell # 876-412-8607 tell him Jack from Chicago referred you.
Re: Scooter Rental Help & Suggestions (3rd Atempt to Contact Banmark)
Thanks everyone. For the advice and the assistance. I'm either going call Prentos or Jah's I believe. Still on the fence about waiting till i get there, but I'll try. I know, I know too much planning, but hey its a big wedding anniversary this trip (15yrs) and its been awhile since we were back on the rock much less had the ability to take a vacation.
One reason we go back to Negril is because I haven't found a single place that I feel more relaxed, slower pace, friendly people and beautiful landscape as there. As soon I as land, grab our luggage and find our driver a wave of stress literally melts off me into the wind. I swear its true. Used to be we went once or twice a yr. I think not being back, not being in the know like we used too be just kinda makes ya stressed and for me an over planner.
