Thinking about trying their jerk pork next week Any thoughts on the best day of the week and time of day to go?
During the day..during the week....Thats when i've been and lots of jerk and just the regulars ,,(ie not crowded)

Somebody stated in my post on BBQ'd Ribs that the Red Dragon has ribs. I was not aware of this if in fact it is true??
I do not know about ribs, but that pork is some of the tastiest I have EVER had. And the Red Stripe is SO COLD~~It is a must do for us when we are in Jamaica. Here is a funny story:
Jim and I were going to the Red Dragon and took a newbie with us. We all ordered pork. While eating I look over at the new guy, he has tears running down his face. A local ask "Whats amatter mon, ya momma die?" Well he thought the yellow ring in the pork was CHEESE........well it was a ring of Habanaro pepper..............what a good belly laugh we had.
Where is Red Dragon actually. What kinf of taxi ride is it from the westend? Thanks

Red Dragon only serves chunks of delicious jerk pork...there is no pork ribs there.

Red Dragon is in Red Ground. A taxi can easily take you there...just ask the driver to take you to Red Dragon or old timers may call it Raggabones. From the West End it shouldn't cost you more than 500j to get there.

Around 1pmish is a good time (as Marley said) to get there....during high season (only) they run out of jerk pork as early as 2pmish.
Mondays (though we go other days) you'll find us hanging out there...it's our car wash day...:).

Oh and I ate the peppers in the pork and thought they were mighty delicious! lol
I don't know about the ribs either I only saw pork but I agree that was some of the best pork I have had while in Negril

RockRobster are you sure it's the same ? Dean the Jerk Pork vendor on the beach raises his own hogs,cleanest hog operation I have ever seen.His pork taste like Red Dragon's but I don't think it's the same.What makes you say it is ?
I am pretty certain it is the same. Dean may raise the piggies, but it is Raggabones that cooks it! But truly, I don't know "firsthand". I like Dean, but I think it is the same stuff...Quote:

We've stayed on the beach many times and have never seen Dean, he must always run out before he gets to our end of the beach :(
Go early in the day so you can get the pork FRESHLY cooked. It is somekindaguud!!!!
RockRobster it was me!!! :) I am terrible with names!! Both are good, but taste different...I like Red Dragon's better than the beach guy.
I went to RedDragon one day and it was late...about 4pm or 5pm and i had gotten the last likkle bit they had left and didn't like it...I guess it was sitting too long. BUT I went back the day after EARLY and got a some and it was MUCH MUCH better!!!

I love raggabones pork.. just a short walk up red ground rd. You can stop at colletes bar for a beer if ya get tired :-), and red dragon is a nice bar.. the pork is lean, tender, spiced perfectly. Delicious. Worth the effort..
I also found out that they sell Rib (raw) at the meat shop in Sav. They might sell them at the meat shop in Negril too....we will be checking that out when we arrive.

I don't know how far North on the beach Dean goes, but I've had no problem getting jerk pork from him at Kuyaba, CCLP and GP. I catch him first thing...around 1045-1100am. First its Keith, the fresh juice guy, then Dean and then Neville when I am doing a beach morning. Although, the fresh lobster guys that hang near CCLP were great this July, with fresh lobsters steamed, with lime and butter, for $8us/each. RedStripe, jerk pork and fresh lobsters before noon.....that's LIVING!Quote:
