Best cottage at Country Country?
Looking for input on the best cottage at Country Country. (we've booked a Premium Cottage) I have the map of the cottages, but can't really tell from a flat 2D map which have the best views of the beach & ocean... Not sure about a 2nd floor room, I'm thinking ground floor would be better. We'd also like to be close to the beach so we can easily go back to the room and mix a drink  Looks like 514 is an upper; 515 is really close to the beach but I saw something about bathrooms close by?
Does anyone have a favourite?
Appreciate all of your help!
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
513 is the ground floor right next to the bar/restaurant. The bathroom is standalone and is a non issue with any room. I liked 513 as it is just steps to the sand. And I didn't notice any outside noise with the AC on.
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
Thanks Booger - what is 515 like? Can you see the beach from there? I can't find any pictures looking in on Country Country except at the bar. Also wondering which cottages have a King bed and which have 2 twins?
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
I'm not sure about 515. If it is an individual cottage I would say get it if you can. My buddy had one and it was a cool little room. I'm not sure which rooms have king beds and which ones do not. If you email Monique she can fill you in on the details. She responds quickly and is thorough with her answers.
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
Thanks again Booger - it took me a while but I found her email address. I'll send her an email. :)

Cottages a bit further back but with a nice sea/beach view are 510 or 508
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
Thanks Melody - Love the pics! The view from 514 looks great, but my hubby has some health issues so stairs are out.

Lower level, you'd want 513, or standalones 515, 516 or 508. Country Country is building some new cottages behind/beside 515 and 516. I don't know how much construction noise may be an issue on that side of the path. Personally, if wanting a standalone (because of construction) I'd choose 508. It's just a few steps further back from the beach and also angled to see more of the beach rather than the restaurant. However, they don't guarantee a cottage request, so I would give them 3 or 4 preferences and you should (hopefully) end up with one of them. Enjoy - notice my countdown, pretty soon I'll be counting sleeps!
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
Lucky girl! Any idea when the new cottages are supposed to be ready?
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
I just dug up an email from Monique prior to our February stay. Here's what she wrote regarding beds:
"#515 has a king plus a futon, #513 has 2 twin beds plus a day bed"
Is that correct Booger, did 513 have 2 twins? Monique didn't mention what beds 508 has.
2nutz, I remember finding a photo on tripadvisor that one of the guests had posted of their view from 515. (it's probably quite a ways back so you'll have to scroll through lots of photos till you find it, but watch the comments at the bottom, it's titled something like view from 515) You can see a bit of the beach/water, but it is camouflaged some from foilage etc. which is good for your privacy. I actually could not see 515 from the beach (good thing for those guests!).

When I asked Monique about it this spring, she indicated the new cottages wouldn't be ready for a couple of years! Seems like a very long time! If it's really going to take that long, they must be doing it very gradually. I did see a tripadvisor reveiw a few months ago mentioning a bit of contruction noise during the day, I believe they were staying on that side of the path.
Looking at your ticker, it won't be much longer for you either! I hope you won't be too disappointed in Country Country after staying at the new Catcha cottage, it will be SO rustic in comparison, but still offering good basics in a beach cottage. It does have a nice welcoming, quiet, homey feel. Make sure you get to breakfast no later than 10:00 a.m., it's all done (no exceptions) at 10:30.

Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
I stayed in 508 last year over Thanksgiving..hopefully attaching pix.
not really any beach views.....but loved it. (if the pics show up, excuse the inside mess ) :)
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
did a search for that 515 view, it actually did not indicate what cottage it was from in the TA guest photos, had to click on the review link. Was from 2008, albanycouple1234. It's traveller photo 262 of 487.
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
Thanks Melody - I did go through the pics but I don't think I went back far enough. Thanks for finding that! I emailed Monique and basically told her what we wanted in a room and left it up to her to do what she can, I didn't bother asking for a specific cottage.
No worries about us being disappointed, we're looking at it as 2 completely separate & distinct vacations in 1. I think we'll love both places for different reasons. We originally were doing this trip as a beach trip, Catcha was a change in plan just because of the great reviews it gets.
livlvlife - thanks for the pictures! I can't seem to get enough :)

513 had a king when we stayed there last year as well as a small day bed.

Booger is 508 the one I stayed in with Jon? Looks like it. Thanks for posting these pics Livlvlife. I thought it was a nice comfy cottage. :) In fact I liked Country Country a lot
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
Just read this in negrilonestop's newsletter:
"County Country* *
The long anticipated pool will soon be here. The new bar, new restaurant and pool are just the first stage of the exciting changes happening at this popular resort. 31 new units (just as charming as the originals) are planned.* If everything goes as scheduled, the bar/ restaurant and pool will be open in early 2013."
Wow, I had no idea about this - I thought it was maybe going to be 2 or 3 cottages! Now I'll want to go stay again to check it out when it's all finished!
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
I saw that same email this morning, I wonder where they wil fit a pool and 31 new units? how much room across Norman Manley do they have?
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
You'll have to take some pictures when you're there Melody and post them for us to see! I emailed Monique by the way and we're all good. You were right, she got back to me very quickly :)
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
For sure. I didn't go across the street last time so no idea how much space.
Re: Best cottage at Country Country?
My girlfriend and I stayed in 510 last month (i'm pretty sure it was 510). It was a second floor room, with a king size bed and a day bed. We couldn't have been happier with the room. We had a beautiful view of the beach, we were mere steps from the sand, yet we weren't right on top of the beach/bar/restaurant. It was perfect in every way. Initially, i'd been hoping for a standalone cottage. I was glad we got a 2nd floor room instead though. The view was better and being on the 2nd floor gave us a little more privacy. We could still say hello to those walking to/from the beach, but we had just an extra bit of privacy.
The room was great, country country was great, and negril was...great.
