Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
It's a romantic island, and I've had great times with my ex-wife while traveling together through the years. But there is a special energy traveling solo, especially now that I have gotten to know folks in Negril, and though I would probably enjoy bringing a friend or lover, I really look forward to some ME time when I'm in Jamaica by myself .... Can anyone relate???

I'll have to get back to you on this one. My first solo reach begins a week from tomorrow. I'm almost at the point where I'm getting distracted at work thinking about it.

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
Yes, I do! Love being able to do what I want, when I want, and not having to entertain anyone or feel obligated to stay out late. More relaxing as I can get up early and go to bed early, and always go home feeling more refreshed after solo trips.

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
Good Morning,
I just returned from my solo reach on October 28th and my head is still in the clouds. I am planning my next reach for March and will continue to travel solo. As Maryann stated, I can get up early and go to bed early and just DO ME!!!!!
Keep smiling,

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
When traveling with me, myself and I. I really got to know that lady and I lover her more. It's a great feeling knowing you can move at your own pace without depending on anyone. Along the way I have met people but only a selected few became friends. Most men think because you are alone you are lonely and try to use you.

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
I'm just curious......of those of you who are traveling solo.......are any of you married?
My wife and I of 29+ years leave in 7 days for our 10th trip. I couldn't imagine going anywhere on vacation without her. But I especially couldn't/wouldn't want to go to Negril without her.

My wife and I of 29+ years leave in 7 days for our 10th trip. I couldn't imagine going anywhere on vacation without her. But I especially couldn't/wouldn't want to go to Negril without her.
I made my first trip without my wife last January. We have been 13 times together over the last 7 years, but she travels more than I do. She goes to conferences a few times a year (in the middle of a trip to Las Vegas now), along with a girls trip to NYC or somewhere else domestic.
So toward the end of last year I half kiddingly told her that I should get to go to Negril in Jan, the week before her girls trip to NYC, and to my surprise she agreed.
Had an internal struggle, should I really do this? She loves Negril, but not as much as I do. She is happy with two separate week long trips a year, but as most on here,
it is an obsession with me.
When the price got right a few weeks out, over the next few days I asked if she was sure she wanted me to do this. She would always say yes, do it.
So I finally did, and it was "I can't believe you are going to Jamaica without me".
Made a too short 4 day trip, I did miss her not being there, but no where near enough to make me wish I had not gone.
Did pretty much what we would have been doing, lay out on beach and float in sea most of the day. I did like eating where and when I wanted, more roadside food and less sitting
in a restaurant for an hour and a half or two hours.
The biggest realization that she was not there was at night. While in Negril she usually goes to bed by 10 or 11. She uses this time to rest up and de-stress from work, while
I like to go out and hang out on the street at night with vendor friends, or hear some music somewhere. When she's ready for bed, I will tell her where I plan to go, and when I
should be back. On the solo trip, it felt strange to go anywhere after dark. Although I believe Negril is as safe as anywhere as long as you keep your senses, it just felt intimidating
to go out at night alone in a foreign country. So I actually stayed closer to the room than I would have if she were there.
I was hoping to make it back for my second solo trip before the end of the year, it would have made four total for the year. Not looking good, but she is ready for the spring trip.
By the way greg/kelly, nice to see some fellow Tennesseeans here. Hope ya'll have a great trip.

Ditto. Have had a very few of my 46 trips to Negril w/ boyfriend, sister, female friend... solo is the best. Negril is time for me to refresh, relax, read, tan, hang out w/ friends. I love being free of responsibility, having only whatever schedule/plans I make for myself.

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
I've traveled solo all over the U.S. and absolutely love it. I do what I want, eat what I want, sleep when I want, read, hike, and chill. I will travel to Negril for the first time in December. I'll be solo for 9 days and have my best friend with me for 4 days (she's coming to help me celebrate my birthday). I'm hoping I'll enjoy being solo in Negril but won't know until I try!! I'm bringing two books and plan on watching the waves roll in as I sip rum punch and people watch...every...day...of...my...trip. I can't see how I can go wrong...:)

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
Love seeing the honest replies. I honestly think if my wife couldn't go with me I wouldn't go. Couldn't stand the thought of going without her.
Thanks davevols! I almost always take my UT cap and wear it in Jamaica. Maybe we'll cross paths someday.....here, or in Negril!
-
Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
Heehee. You threw me off with your mention of a "UT cap." I also have a "UT cap"--- only it's a different hue of orange! :)
I have been to the campus of the University of Tennessee. It's beautiful.

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....
i have gone solo several times, went with my now ex, gone with a few different girlfriends. went with another couple and my now ex and for for the last 18 years have gone with my fantastic wife. the worst is going with another couple because then you do have to take into consideration what they might want to do, going solo was great and it's always easy to find girlfriends for the evening if you have an interest. by far though the best is going with the love of my life.every so often i have to do something that perhaps would not be my first choice but the romance we share together in that atmosphere is amazing.

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....

Re: Raise your hand if you like going SOLO to Negril ....

I'm with both of you! Just can't imagine travelling to Negril without Zee. We've been together 33 years and married 30 of them and we travel well together. We do most things together because we want to but have no trouble persuing our own interests either. Hardly ever any pressure one way or the other.
Peace
Elvino

I SO understand how you feel! I love my sisters and have a large group of female friends that I enjoy spending time with, but I usually end up being the planner, or center of activity. I spend a lot of time with all of them, and therefore love it when I get a chance at some me time!
And, as for those who have partners or significant others, I totally agree. I'm single now but I was married for 12 years and loved traveling with my partner and enjoying all those special moments together. There's nothing like it. When you have these wonderful experiences, it's so nice to share them with someone you love. Maybe someday I'll walk that road again and that would be great. But, for now...this upcoming trip will be all about me.... :)
Mi time a soon come!
