Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Need a little help...
Wife and I are planning a return trip for next year. 7 days on the beach and 3 days on the cliffs. Looking for something clean, cheap and within walking distance to many local restaurants and bars. Don't care if I'm staying right on the cliffs or not, as long as there is someplace close by that we can access the cliffs and water if we like.
I've kinda narrowed my search to these two places for our stay on the Westend, but am open to other suggestions as well. It looks like the cheap rooms at Catcha all have the 2 double beds...can these be pushed together? Or do they offer any rooms with king or queen size beds?
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Sent you a PM...Good luck and blessings sent!
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
The cheap rooms at Catcha can be pushed together. Picses offers up a Queen as does Little Capricorn. If it was me I would pick Seastar for the simple fact that they have the restaurant and bar onsite. The Gardens are kick a$$ as well and have LTU across the street. Either pick will be a good one.
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Have never stayed at Catcha but have stayed more than once at Seastar Inn! Chris & Francine and their people will make sure your stay at Seastar will be a good one for sure! Great food, drinks and a peaceful environment. This place is good for the soul!
Peace
Elvino

Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Seastar Inn has AC, and Catcha Gardens does not.
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Some of the rooms at Catcha Gardens have a/c, just not all of them
Both places are great in my opinion, you can't make a bad choice here!
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
I have stayed at Seastar and love it. Great bar, great kitchen, excellent pool, excellent staff, near perfect management - Chris and Francine are exceptional. We'll be staying at Catcha Gardens this Holiday season for 10 nights. It comes highly recommended from a number of friends but I'll be happy to give you my personal review when we get back. Don't think you can go wrong with either but I think an easy comparison would be Seastar - more hoppin', Catcha Gardens - more laid back.

Thanks for the info booger!
Have you ever stayed in the Pisces cottage? If so, what did you think? I've seen some photos and it looks like a pretty good deal for the $$. Is it as private as it looks in the photos?

Oh wait a minute.....I didn't realize you were including the cliffside Catcha Falling Star in your choices
If that is the case, yes.....pick that one. ANY room at Catcha is a good place to be!
I love the Gardens and Seastar Inn both but Catcha takes the cake in all categories, just my opinion of course :)

Although Catcha Falling Star looks really tempting, I think we'll be hitting either Gardens or SSI. I was just curious about the Pisces Cottage. Looks like a really good deal, and possibly a great 3rd option if we decide we have to be "on" the cliffs.
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Yes, it is a great option! But you would be happy with any of the three I honestly believe, all great properties
The only real downsides you ever hear about Pisces is that it is closest to the road (only Gatehouse cottage being closer) and then if you have a toilet bowl obsession like booger does apparently the toilet is round and too close to the vanity :)
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
I would go with Catcha Gardens. Beautiful place!

The cool little back deck with hammock more than makes up for it. Just remember that in the middle of the night to go thru the door that DOES NOT have the towel rack on it if you need to use the bathroom. The door with the rack on it is the FRONT DOOR and you will roll out in all your glory, just ask Sandie..... It also has AC and is a great value.
Anyone know if Sky has round bowl toilets? :p
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
We stayed at Catcha Gardens last year and loved it. If you want quiet, it's the place to be with the pool and right across the street from LTU. We go to Seastar whenever in Negril, but haven't stayed there yet.
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
I stayed at Pisces,,,also got it for a good price. A bit tight but nice outdoor shower, nice deck. I love Ctacha but I must say at night at the Pisces,,,,there must be a dog compound across the street because they bark alot and it seems like they are right outside your door. But I would stay there again. Gardens & Seastar are more serene & quiet.
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
Catchafallingstar is by far the best value for the money anywhere in the Caribbean. If you have a choice of the three, SSI, CFSG, or Catchafallingstar Pisces, and you are not single but with a special someone, do the Pisces by all means. This is five star quality at a three star price. You may never leave the place. The food, the bar, all first rate and the view....off the hook good. If the choice is between SSI and CFSG, I prefer the Gardens. It is more private, quiet, and right across the road from LTU pub. That said, a lot of people, and I mean many many people like SSI. It is a bit livelier with good food and bar, and a larger pool.
Re: Sea Star Inn or Catcha Gardens?
I'd go with Pieces at Catcha. The toilet is only a problem if you are taller than 5'6" and that can be solved by using the one down by Ivan's. We always take foam ear plugs for the dogs but in reality, if you've had a few drinks before bed, you'll never notice them. The only other issue with Pieces is that if you have had a few drinks, be careful of the drop off into the bathroom.
