Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of you beautiful people here on the forum. I'm thankful for Rob & Lisa for allowing me to express myself, enjoy myself and for the great education we find on this Forum. I'm also thankful that I have opened up a friendship with many of you, even though its only online. I love the stories/trip reports that each of you have shared and the brutally open, honest soul baring feelings we get to read each day.
My prayers are that each of you have a safe holiday season, that each of you find all the love you deserve and most of all that we all make it back to Negril real soon!

Nice!!! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!! So thankful for being so blessed as to be able to visit my favorite island in the world...whether it is once a year, twice or whenever....from the first time, it has been life changing and every time since...it continues to strengthen. Of course, thankful for so much more in this life....family, friends, and the beauty that surrounds all of us, wherever we live! Blessings sent to all.......

Sorry I didn't mean to single out the US crew on this post, as Tizzy said earlier we all have a reason to be thankful this entire holiday season, and no matter where you are from, or your beliefs enjoy & be safe.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
Sorry to burst your bubble Rambo but thanksgiving was actually started by the first founders of America, the Vikings, on the rock (sorry NOT Plymouth rock but actually Newfoundland). Erik the beautiful and his crew of savage manly men were shipwrecked on the western shore of Newfoundland and with winter coming on were destined to a slow lingering death, when an aborigine fishing party of warlike newfies found their encampment. Upon seeing the fair Eric they nursed him and his band to health with liberal portions of cod livers and a native medicine called screech. There are still descendants of Newfies living in Newfoundland today. Canadians celebrate this original Thanksgiving in October when copious amounts of cod liver and screech are consumed. The Americans borrowed and embellished this story and moved the holiday to November to coincide with their primary holiday called Black Friday. I always enjoy educating our great neighbour to the south and take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful American Thanksgiving. However..... though we will give you credit for your Thanksgiving, you may never take credit for Lisa. She was born and bred in Canada and this honour we will never concede! And yes..honor should be spelled "honour"

Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!

Well I will now add one more thing to my list of things to be thankful for.....Not having to eat cod liver tomorrow!!

I singled out the Americans as well, but only because we Canucks celebrate our Thanksgiving in October :) I for one am so thankful that we are able to travel and get to experience Jamaica! So many people don't have that opportunity!

Is that what they taught you in school? Black Friday is a retail holiday. LOL

Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
Thanks Booger. Just jerkin your turkey. Enjoy your cod livers and football and have a wonderful thanksgiving.
-
Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
Dash, don't forget the Newfie "screech in" ceremony that must be recited before enjoying your cod livers and screech...
Newbie Newfies must don their rain slicker, kiss a cod on the lips, and when asked the question "Are ye a screecher?" They must answer "Deed I is me old cock, and long may your big jib draw!"
Happy Thanksgiving everybody ! :-)
-
Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
Lorax you are certainly a worldly person. Not many are aware of the Newfie tribal rituals. Thanks
-
Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
One of my co-workers is from Newfoundland and "schooled" me on screech. :-)
-
Re: Happy Thanksgiving to all you Boardies!
Nuttin like getting "screeched in"

Dash - got that right, its the American version of the running of the bulls. But, sadly now, its moving over into gray Thursday as the retail box stores are start tying off the arm of the shopping addicts an evening earlier.
