No Woman- No Cry
Redemption Song. Just Nesta and an acoustic guitar. His voice is almost haunting
Sun is Shining..
Three Little Birds...It's even my ringtone.
I like **** the system
Tough question "3 O'Clock Roadblock" says a lot, "Chances Are" is almost not Marley but let's you see a time in his life,"Private Number" with Marcia is quite a duet, all are right up there but "Caution" if I had to go with one,,,, wait a minute "Punky Reggae Party",,,, no it's "Caution",,,, no wait a minute
It's got to be Buffalo Soldier for me. I got to the point where I was sick of 3 Little Birds because it seemed to be always playing on the radio here.
Redemption Song
story of my life
Exodis, Kayya, One Love, love them all. Negril 2013 Feb 4-11!!!
Damian is my fav but I love all the Marleys, Capelton, Luciano, Beenie Man, BUJU, etc.
I was sitting at Sun Beach tonight for sunset and they were playing one of the 'Songs of Freeedom' CD's - the one with 'Guava Jelly' on it, and I was just listening to the music; the bass track, the vocals the 'chunka-chunka' rhythm and I said to the guy sitting beside me, "What if he'd lived on, imagine the treasury of music we would have, imagine the direction Bob would have steered Jamaican music."
The guy nodded, agreed with me.
Bob passed when he was 36 years old - think of that. Just 36. Think of what he did in those short years.
The gift, the legacy.
As the sun set we listened to 'One Love' - maybe it sounds cliche, but, really, it is a timeless piece of music, the lyrics, the message, the rhythm, that bass track that grabs you from the first bar.
I don't really have one favorite, there are many - I'm just thankful for what he left us.
One Love, Bob - thank you. . . thank you . . . thank you
Three little birds. soon come
I sit at work with my ear phones in and I bob my head and my co-workers know... Bob Marley. It really does'nt matter. It makes my day happy
It changes, but right now, i will say trenchtown rock, from rastamon vibration 'live' in portland, 1978. That album has great sound with a definite 70s tube amp feel and great srereo seperation. The whole thing is excellent!
Duppy Conquerer.
Yes me friend, me good friend...
Another vote for..
Natural Mystic
Redemption Song
Sun is shining
...and one for...So much trouble...
three little birds
War
Another vote for Redemption Song and always love Waiting in Vain
In the immortal words of Bob Slydell in Office Space "I celebrate the guy's entire catalogue"
How can I possibly pick a favorite when there are so many styles and periods to chose from. They all have meaning and relevance.
No woman, no cry. Natural Mystic. Soul Rebel. Concrete Jungle. War. Even the standards like Jammin' and Three Little Birds.
I really love the early early stuff. The one that haunts me lately is I'm Hurting Inside.
I guess my ultimate answer would have to be the one that's playing:cool:
Natural Mystic.
Hmmmmm favorite reggae artist? Jimmy Cliff and "Vietnam" digs deep into my soul and I notice that "Many Rivers to Cross" is on a lot of my favorite playlist. Gregory Isaacs ode to addiction "Night Nurse" hits me close. Duane Stephenson, Damian & Lucky Dube followed me around the 90's and 00's. When I looked at my most played The Skatalites pop up. Shaggy, Toots, The Pioneers, Nasio for a short time, Marcia Griffiths always,,,, No over 30 40 years it has to be Jimmy
Natural Mystic.
Favorite reggae artist? Hmmmm
Besides Bob Marley?
Burning spear, Black Uhuru, Mighty Diamonds...etc, etc...
Lots of favorites :-)
Jammin' I even have it on my license plate. "WE JAMIN"
Mr. Brown is way up on my list. Many people believe it is about heroin, but I think it is really about an old Jamaican folklore spirit
No Woman No Cry!

Lots to choose from. Not sure I can pick just one.

Wait in Vain
Bob and his boys are my fav reggae artists but other than that I love Dennis Brown.......dancehall Movado
Fav Marley song: Stir it up.
Fav Marley album: Catch a Fire.
I love all of his songs for different reasons. It's impossible to choose just one...but lately I've been really enjoying "Mr. Brown" and "Duppy Conqueror"
"Mr. Brown" because of it's funky fresh feeling. "Duppy Conqueror" because it has a powerful haunting quality to it that really gets deep under my skin.
I love Guava Jelly. Three Little Birds is pretty lovely too. My huz likes I Shot The Sheriff. I always end up playing Exodus at some point during Passover too.
