Beach erosion at Country Country
These were taken at the north end of the Country Country beach, looking up towards Negril Treehouse. The waves were pounding all day on Saturday and this is what happened to the beach...

Wow thanks for posting, how was the beach at Seasplash?

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
I took a walk up that way on Sunday afternoon and I don't think it was any different than a few days before, but I didn't take any pics so I can't be sure...

Just back from a walk from Nirvana to Couples. Beach is in great shape, except for the stretch from County Country to Seasplash.

Exactly what all of the locals said. I think the only thing that surprised them was how quickly it went away, but they all say it will be back :)

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
When the tide was out it wasn't too bad, you could easily walk around in the water...

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
sand is coming in nicely. there were 3 steps on the tree house side just yesterday....now only 2 visable and is easy to walk in the water

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
Its been like that for years. I remember in 2000 you had to walk in the water to go around the bar...other years there was sand. It shouldn't be there. It disrupts the natural flow of the beach.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
I have been going to Negril since the late 80"s. The water levels have risen and a couple of hurricanes have moved the sand around. The beaches were quite a bit larger back then.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
The treehouse looks like a "swim - up" bar.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
Wow....thanks for the pictures. That's amazing! That last picture with the waves breaking over the Treehouse gazebo would have definately made my fabulous morning coffee a little salty! I loved sitting there in the morning enjoying my morning coffee....once the afternoon hit, it wouldn't have bothered me if it was a salty rum punch!

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
i think it's kind of cool that the water splashes up at Treehouse. Where else can you dine so close to the shoreline??? It's like a Bora Bora feel.
Seasplash in in perfect condition.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
Wow, that is like a "swim up bar"....I will have to try it out in about a month:)

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
There is lots of beach there now, or at least there was in August like 20 yards of beach in front of Treehouse bar.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
We were there in April and June of this year and the beach had come back nicely at both Country Country and Sea Splash. Treehouse had more beach than I can remember in the past 4 or 5 years. We walk, we drink, we forget...no pictures.

This was taken last December... Was pretty much the same in April.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
Looks about the same as it did in March. We were there in March 2012 and we had to walk around when the tide came in. During the day there was only a few feet of beach to get through. Fast forward to March 2014 and the beach was like what you posted.
I feel like we are in the "weather" versus "climate" debate here.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
Looking at the pictures from the 50's and from recent years, I've always wondered why there are so few palm trees left. Anyone have any insight? Was it done for safety from falling coconuts(seems unlikely)?

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
The trees were cleared for development. One of the main reasons there are erosion issues. Beach come and beach go. The pix of Treehouse bar are a perfect illustration. Stop building so close to the shoreline and clearing trees and let Mother Earth do her thing! And certainly stop the folly of hundreds of truck loads of bolders blocking traffic and access to the west end to create a breakwater that will likely accomplish nothing in the long run.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
Once CC removes the eyesore of the burned down bar they are going to have a huge beach...... Nice to see the additional beach at Treehouse as well. It is much less dense than it was when the water was up to the bar.

Yeah, I get the clearing for development, it just looks like the focused more on removing palms and leaving other types intact.

Re: Beach erosion at Country Country
my first trip to tree house was in the early eighties. i remember walking from the building at the end of the driveway, there were many trees before the beach. i remember sitting under those trees for shade. also remember that boat was always being out of the water for repairs! LOL! THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
