Jerk Chicken Places

A few weeks ago someone posted a place we had not tried before for Jerk Chicken....Believe it was closer to Treehouse... We usually do Best in the West but this was farther up the road and was recommended...believe it was a name similar to Ivans(not on the cliffs) but that is not the right name.....but sure can't find the post now!!! Would like to have some friends try when they are there at the end of the month.... Still 40+ sleeps and getting my fix by reading trip reports...Feb soon come! Thx for help!

Best we had on this trip was Biggas, 3 Dives and Eddie's De Bar. Didn't like Best of the West, sauce too sweet.

Sorry to hear that Best in the West sauce got sweet...:) last reach it was wonderfully juicy, with a good heat... Did finally remember the name...It was Ozzies... Will have to try Eddies this reach when we get that way.. Bourbon Beach isn't what it used to be....last reach was disappointing... 3 Dives has always been a good one if you can get in there...usually pretty hopping there... Where is Bigga's? on the cliffs or beach? thanks!!

bigga is in green island...a wonderful stop on the way to negril. just look for the big man with the remarkably clean white shirt.

Bigga's Is awesome. Rented a Motorcycle and rode up the coast to grab some. Great story teller. Last Stop on the roadway was great, sold me a bottle of his sauce. Matter of fact, he owes me one!

Treehouse has great jerk chicken! Alan is a great chef & he sings too!

We're big fans of Ozzies and Biggas. Yum...Only three and a half more months to go....SIgh.

Might be a while before Stepaside is back in business his cart was run down by a car last night, I was told he is ok, but his cart was just scattered debris on the side of the road.

Ozzies,great food,and always domino games going on... ....but don't bet with those guys

When will they do something about the crazy driving???

My favorite jerk chicken stand has been The Original Bigg's Jerk Stand. He is just outside the gate at Hidden Paradise Resort. We discovered him years ago when we stayed at Hidden Paradise. A fella by the name of Marvin was tending the bar for us and he would run out to the road to get us jerk chicken. Good times and great memories!

it still amazes mi the difference from one jerk place to the next.......
most places today the jerk chicken is slightly spicey.......
but usually it's the jerk sauce that makes it real spicey and hot
Tony's up by No Limit serves a nice Jerk Chicken as does the Jerk Hut by Sunshine Plaza.....
Tony's serves his Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and ackee for $400J's which is a good size meal....
and the Jerk Hut serves theirs with rice and peas or festivals......$380J's for the meal plus 25J's per festival
both great places to get a Jerk Chicken meal for around $4.50US.......
mi can't even make dat in mi kitchen at dem prices.....things real expensive in the supermarkets here......

yup dat is Tony that is cooking beside No Limit......
had his Jerk Chicken and Conch Soup so far.....both very good...

Attachment 21546 Having cooked a chicken or two in my 60 plus years I think that there are many good choices,the beach road and up on the cliff`s both offer up some tasty jerk!!!!!
Having said that i feel there is none better than this guy, The Original Smoky,between the Hidden Paradise and the Blue Mountian Coffee shop ! Stop by and say hello and get some of the best jerk you will ever taste.

Tayan's is my favorite...on the cliffs (but not WAY up). About a 10-15 minute walk from the Blue Cave Castle headed back towards the beach. There's a pool (billiards) room and bar attached to it.

That question has been asked for years.

Last reach I was in search of great fried chicken and found some great spots (Choices & Juicy J's to name only a couple). This time I'm gonna look into great jerk chicken. Maybe pictures and/or video with some subjective ratings and comments including location, serving time etc.. There will be a mixture of restaurant and road side vendors. My opinion only but it may be of interest to others also.

I'll take one for the team and put on a few pounds. :) Making notes already based on this thread.

Ozzie's Jerk Centre is a favorite spot of ours. My favorite is the jerk pork. The chicken is good too. If you like it spicy ask for a little green sauce and chase it with a Red Stripe...:) Say hi to Paulette.
