What are your thoughts on SunBeach? We really want to head over there next trip for their Thursday or Sunday dinner special, but I don't know a lot about it. I've read the TA reviews and they sound good...
Wondering what you boardies think about the food and the band? Does the band play only on Thursday and Sunday?

We have had dinner there on a Sunday night, they had the band then...they set up tables in the sand down by the water with candles...it's not fancy and the food is basic but good...The vibe is very casual and cool. Bring bug spray :-)
I like it there. But we have only been day style.
Dennis is a great host....can't go wrong with SunBeach
Try to get a table closer to the building/light and/or ask for two candles for your table. I found it too dark. I like to see what I'm eating. The food was fine and service friendly. Washrooms could definitely use sprucing up.
Just stayed at CoCo and went there 3/4 times,great.....They give a free soup& bread with the meal.Good prices. Bands sometimes...
Always end up hanging there. The vibe is real good. If you are there at dusk or after to eat on the beach spray your feet and legs. Good food excellent staff. Would go if there is music.
We'll be at Coco so it's nice and close. How is the music?
yes...band is on thurs and sunday...til 11i think...i wasnt watching the clock...too busy dancing in the sand...lol....food is good...seems to be getting better each time im there. bug spray a must...especially if you are eating at table on the beach. The singer is not the best but he is highly entertaining...Dennis usually sings a few songs too.
i agree about the bathrooms...they do clean in the am...but they get used alot so sometimes not so good in the evening

Relaxed, fun, place, mid range (tourist) prices for the food. Food usually pretty good!

One of my favorite places to eat on the beach. LOVE the Escovich fish from there.
Sunbeach is a great place to hang and chill. They did have a problem with not enough chairs but that has been solved. Food is great. Beers are cold and 200J in Nov/Dec when we were there last. A great jerk chicken. I mean chicken is chicken. It's the same everywhere. What makes a great jerk chicken is the sauce. Roy mixes up a pretty good homemade jerk sauce.
Staff is great, but what I love the most is the beach. Nice and wide, and you can walk into the ocean for 500 meters and still be chest high and nice soft sand. No mud or sea grass. Try it out and you won't be disappointed. I'll agree about the washrooms, but how much time do you spend in there. It's all about the beach and the atmosphere. Construction is in progress for updated kitchen/washrooms as I understand.
I liked it.Some nights they have a live band and set up tables with candles...very romantic.
Great to hear good reviews. A buddy and I will be staying right there first of February for a week! If anyone is in the area at the time I'm sure we will enjoy a few stripes and many laughs there!
Dear wife and I enjoy a romantic candle lighted dinner on the sand at SB on the night without the band. Too loud for romance! We enjoy dancing to the music at SB and dine somewhere else on music nights. I agree with previous posters about bug spray, but that applies to anywhere in the tropics. If you beach at SB during the day, you can enjoy the crazy people next door at Firefly.

Do listen about bug spray anywhere on the sand in the evening it can ruin your night

Its a great place to chill on the beach. Their chairs either face the bar or the sea, whichever you prefer. We've never eaten there, even though it gets good reviews. We have a strict rule to never eat dinner in the sand. It sounds and looks very romantic, but in reality, that's when the sand fleas come out to eat too.
Sunset and shortly after sunset are the worst times. So bugspray those ankles!!
Just got back and wait until you see what they are doing at Sunbeach, they were in the process of tiling the bathrooms while I was there, the huge dining area is next. They are just finishing up the rooms and will be ready soon. Its going to be really nice.
It is a great place to sit, have a cold beer or two, and enjoy the company. Food is great too. Nice vibe. One of my favorite places to hang out.
They are going to rent "hotel" rooms? Have they rented rooms in the past or is this new?Quote:

We talk to the owners the other day...they have not priced out the rooms yet.
