Has anyone been to Mayfield Falls lately. How was it??
I have been to Mayfield Falls twice. It is not anything like Dunn's or YS but it is very fun. It is more like a winding shallow river that goes uphill. You walk with a guide through the Falls / River. There is a tree you can climb and jump from and a set of hollow rocks you can swim thru. At a very quiet location with a bar/ grill onsite and a couple shacks with crafts.
I enjoy it.
me and my kids went in Febuary - and we had a great time.. it was a little over a hr from negril and you go through working sugar fields and then mountains and rainforest.. the trip alone was enjoyable for us.. then the falls - lots of natural jacuzzi massage points - i and as shellyk said the place you can jump and then go through a underwater cavern to the other side.. no crowds - plenty of privacy actually.. then have your driver go through sav la mar on the way back - if you have never been there is it a experience in itself - lots of good shopping - and really see the local culture and way of life in action..
do a search if you care to on the old board for mayfield falls - i had a trip report write up on it in febuary.. lotsa nice pics

Nice place, but road there has a lot of pot holes, so cabbies don't like going there 2 much ....
Had a great time a few week back.

My driver suggested it to us, so not all drivers don't like going there.. some prefer it to dunns or ys. I would agree some little cars were having a rougher time, but the Toyota van we were in had no problems.. also, my driver Everton knows the road very well.. he also knew every person we came in contact with that day everywhere we went, so that didn't hurt either.. ;)Quote:

yes, mayfield falls is wonderful. Long bumpy ride, but scenery is beutiful. I liked our tour guides. Young kids very helpful and informed on local flora.
I enjoyed Mayfield Falls much more than I enjoyed Dunn's River. It is beautiful and cool and refreshing. Also not overloaded with people which allows for a more personal experience.
