The Spa Retreat

Has anyone on the board stayed here? We got thrown out to the snakes by Westender.
Keith double booked our rooms and supposedly didn't realize until 2 weeks before out trip.
So when Keith tells our travel agent that he would rather lose us as customers than his clients, would you really want to stay at westender? NOT
Now what is really disturbing is that in march of 2012 Keith told our travel agent that the rooms were booked and then 2days later the rooms were ours because those people didn't make a deposit.
So we were offered The Spa Retreat for a little extra. I'm pretty stoked as we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary.

I have not stayed there but took a look around, its really nice! If i could stay there for alittle more than Westender I would be in for sure.

We went there for dinner during our May 2012 trip - the food was delish! The manager gave us a tour of several rooms - very nice!

In a heartbeat...ha ha ha .....I use to stay there when it was heartbeat,a little more rustic than the spa, but always enjoyed it

I am very sorry for this situation but I would like to clarify a few points. I had an employee (which is not longer at the hotel) that double book this reservation with another group (16 people). Both reservations came in just about the same time in March 2012 and both were for the same date/rooms in Feb 2013. Basically, the employee moved Pontious group (4 people) reservation to another suite to accommodate the larger group of 16 people. When she changed the reservation to another room, all reservations in the system looked good. It was only after I did a detailed review 30 days before arrival did I noticed that the reservation was changed for Pontious from the Almond/Cactus suites to our Penthouse apartments. I conveyed this information to the travel agent and express my deepest apology for this situation. I explained to the travel agent that I have a group of 16 people coming and they are unwilling to change reservations. Therefore, I offered the following options to the Pontious group:

1. Stay at Westender Inn in the penthouse suites, reduction in the bill and free breakfast during their stay.

2. Move Pontious group to the brand new Dolphing Bay resort right next door to Westender Inn, use of all Westender Inn facilities, and free breakfast during their stay

3. Move Pontious group to another resort in Negril and Westender Inn/travel agent will pay the difference in booking charges if rate is higher

The Pontious group decided to move to the SPA Retreat (which is a fantastic resort - #1 on TA) and Westender Inn/Travel agent will pay the upgrade price. As I said, I am very sorry for the double booking with the Almond/Cactus suite but I tried my best to rectify the situation and I thought we arrived at a very positive outcome for this group? - Keith @ Westender Inn

I toured the Spa Retreat last Feb .. you will not be disappointed.. it is beautiful and the food is divine.

Well Keith, our travel agent One Stop gave us the rooms at their cost and it still cost me an extra $488.00 per couple.
If I'm understanding your post correctly, the westender would owe both couples $488.00.
When can we expect our credit. We were told by our travel agent that the Westender was not willing to help out at all.
Further more the price difference between the 2 rooms we had at the Westender and Dolphin Bay - we were told you were *****ing about having to give us a credit therefore we opted to not have anything to do with the Westender. An extra 488.00 credit would be nice for our 10 day stay . What are you going to do about it? Please advise? Thank you the Pontius's

Kay, it sounds like you may want to take this direct to Keith at Westender rather than play it out on the board. It is unfortunate that you have been put in this situation but it appears Keith is looking out for you plus from what it appears the Spa is a very nice resort. Good luck to you and your group. Plus really, do you think One Stop gave you the rooms at their cost? Find a way to get past this and enjoy your trip.............

Human error does occur....both Westender and Onestop Vacations are very sorry for the last minute changes that had to be made to your booking. Both Keith at Westender and us here at Onestop split the difference to get you booked into The Spa Retreat. Enjoy your time on the beach and last 3 nights on the cliff. We were just at the Westender last night and there were a lot of happy guests (it was beach barbque night)...great chill out spot. I hope you get a chance to drop by Westender and see why its a popular resort. We are in Negril and will drop by to see you.

Bob & Susan, If you and the Westender split the difference why did we pay Derek 488.00 per couple for the Spa Retreat?
Derek said the Westender wasn't willing to help out with that expense.
This has been very frustrating for all involved.

Had a great time at the Spa. We did the all-inclusive one of the days and it was TOTALLY worth it.
We flew to Montego Bay and we were immediately whisked off by the competent Rocky from Rocky’s Tours, who has been in business for over 25 years in the area. The 2 hour trip to Negril (sounds like “the grill”) wasn’t bad inside Rocky’s air-conditioned bus. We had the whole bus to ourselves and were given a complimentary Red Stripe as soon as we got on. Rocky stopped at the Mega Mart for us so we could get some snacks and sodas for our room at the resort. He also stopped at the most awesome roadside stand where we ate Jerk Chicken and drank Sorrel. Sorrel is a traditional drink that is made in Jamaica around the holidays. It is also very healthy; being made with Christmas spices, ginger, and little Jamaican rum. The owner, Bigger told us that Sorrel is actually listed on the internet as a cancer-treating elixir. Bigger also sells Jerk sauce “to go”, and we were so impressed by his sauce and Jerk chicken that we told him we’d stop back in 3 days on our way back home.
We passed through 7-Mile Beach and arrived at the Spa just at the North End of the Cliffs. It was an impressive resort designed by the owner, who is also an architect. The thatched roof huts had a symmetrical design from the inside and the polished wood ceiling and floors gave it a rustic look. We dropped our bags and had and had the front desk call us a cab. We watched the sunset from our balcony and then made a b-line straight for the beach. Awesome place to stay-Dwayne the bartender is really cool, and the vibe is very laid back in contrast to the busy beach, kinda gives you the best of both worlds,
