anyone else get swabbed when leaving MBJ ?
???? Explain please
iam guessing when they swab you looking for explosives and such
I think it is a random thing. I have had it done a couple of times at US airports
I have been swabbed a couple of times leaving MBJ. They are looking for blow.... LOL. I heard that on my last reach and I am almost certain they are swabbing for explosives.
you just brought up a memory of what happened to us at the mobay airport on the way home in sept...put the story in my trip report...
we were swabbed, and they detected nitro on a carry on...
Happened to me in 2010. They even threw away my remaining packets of Deep Woods Off - the exact quote was "off is not allowed". It was all I could do not to ROFL - but I didn't think that would be helpful. Lol!
I have been swabbed a couple of times leaving MBJ. It seems to be a random thing.
swabbing nothing..i had to poop while naked..in a glass enclosed cold metal toilet, being watched and filmed.. while a dude was searching my poop for swallowed contraband...at toronto airport....
I got swabbed on our last trip....No big deal, the person doing the swabbing was very polite and it didn't take long.
damn lanetop, that's awful!
I've been swabbed at MBJ and they accused me of being a mule. Almost took me to the hospital for x-rays. It was not a fun experience.
I was told it was all random but I changed out of my shorts in to jeans and put on shirt so they where checking fresh washed clothes. They had me empty my pockets , turn them inside out and hold my hands out in front of me. Then they wiped above my pockets front and back around my belt then wiped under my nose. After that they took another swab and wiped just my hands and fingers. I think they are looking for both drugs and explosive traces. The nose wipe tells me they where looking for drugs. Back in the day we use pull up in airport drop off area killing the last sub.
my son is held in Toronto every time he comes home...poopin in the glass bowl is part of his toronto arrival....he has been sent to hospital for xrays and they hold him for 23 hours every time....we dont even think about picking him up from yyz until 24 hours after his arrival....frequent visitor to jamaica puts a big old red flag on him...even though he would never ever think of doing anything stupid
What the hell. Why did they do that? I've been 7 times in the last two years. I've been sniffed, stared at, questioned and had stuff removed from my bag usually expensive cologne. Never had to poop in a bowl.
Had the wonderful secondary security screening last year. Passport and boarding pass grabbed out of my hand with no explanation, the hand swab in the room and then the wonderful full pat down before boarding at the gate. Got questioned about bag packing at check in. My boarding pass was very different than the wife's. Was not a nice end to our trip.
I never get lucky enough for a full body * pat down*. Oh well, I got a plane to catch in Atlanta in a couple hours, time to hit the road. Negril here I come. Hope the red stripes are cold!!
I got the hand swab on Saturday in Atlanta. My bracelets set off the scanner, security asked me if I could take them off. My left arm was in a sling due to recent surgery. So I took the bracelets off & went thru the scanner again. No problem. I must have pissed off the security lady, as I was holding up the line & she motioned me to stop & step to the side. I got the pat down. Had to tell the lady to take it easy on my arm, as she was patting down my arm that I had surgery on. I would have taken it out of the sling so she could see nothing was in there & she didn't have to hurt me. Then she got out the wipes & swabbed my hands. Kind of freaked me out, but I didn't have anything to worry about. Just didn't care for the way they were handling my arm. If she had seen the 7" fresh incision & all the swelling & bruising, I bet she wouldn't have touched it!
Larry gets swabbed in every airport we are in it seems. They do his hands, pockets, and any zippers on the carry on bags. I think it is due to the large amounts of insulin that he has to carry on the plane. Little tubes of liquid are always suspicious I guess.
It's sad that our world has come to this, but personally I am thankful that they take the time to do this to ensure our safety.
Got swabbed and patted in Phoenix, AZ airport yesterday on my way home to NY. Have had it done in MBJ at least 3 times. Kinda use to it now but like Long Bay says it freaked me out the first time when they grabbed my passport and disappeared in MBJ without saying a word. Somebody behind me in line calmed me down.
I agree rinakim. It is sad that it has come to this. I just thought to myself "they are just doing their job" and the security lady that I pissed off was having a bad day. It is nerve racking to go thru security, especially one armed, trying to get your shoes off, & everything in the bins & not "holding" up the line.
All my trips, they just wave me through. I guess I look like a pure tourist with my sunburn, all-inclusive bracelet and fanny pack .....
Hah! that's funny, you, all inclusive...love it.Quote:

That and they can't quite have the GerryG123 video of the swab down at Sangster, ya mon.
on the day of my poop story..a yonge country jamaican girl was having her old decreped suitcase drilled...to my surprise, out came coke on the drill bit...no wonder secruity so nosey...
So Limo Mon, you can poop on demand? I'm impressed.
My titanium knee has NEVER set off the scanners at MBJ (six trips) and always does in the states.
Well I can say I wasn't "swabbed" in Jamaica (still not really clear on the word "swabbed") BUT...
Last month was our first most awesome trip, out of this world, journey to Negril. We had been in Ft. Lauderdale for a few days prior to flying to Montego Bay. To make a long story short, during our stay at the Spa Retreat, My loving husband kept the "sub fillings" in our safe in the room, right next to my purse. The last night in Negril, I slept perhaps 1 hour, got in our taxi at the pre-determined time of 9:30 am and had a very rough ride to the airport in Montego Bay. Thinking the Mobay express thing (can't remember what it is called at the moment) would offer some relaxation and relief, we booked it. We were short on time and ended up inhaling some patties and personally I slammed some 1130 am gin and tonics and off we were... Me Zombie material but my husband in a totally normal frame of mind....off to Ft. Lauderdale Airport....the first of 2 stops in route to Nashville. So back to the purse in the safe thing....
We waited in line for Customs at Ft Lauderdale for about 1 hour. I was hot, tired and out of sorts. We had our 4 suitcases stacked on a cart. About mid way through the line, a nice, beautiful German Shepherd was walking through the line of people with his Customs handler. He lovingly approached me, took a big sniff of my purse and sat down.
Mr. Customs guy said " Congratulations, you made it to the Express Line" and motioned us over to a stainless steel table where he proceeded to empty the contents of my pocketbook all over the table. Mind you, by this time, i really had not slept in about 48 hours and felt like I had not wore enough deodorant for the 10 hour trip. Fortunately my husband had a good nights rest and was more with the program.
Mr. Customs said to us: "Just be honest. That is going to make it much easier on you. You know you can not bring subs back from Jamaica?" Then he looked at me and said "you realize what is going on here, right?" I guess he was reacting to my "I am really tired" gaze. He asked us our occupations, asked if we were ever arrested, asked how long and how many trips we had made to Jamaica and asked if we indulged in eating subs....yes, we had we agreed we did indeed eat subs... but we would never in a million years bring subs home. We made him aware that we watch the show locked up Abroad. And off we went. Only consolation is we made it through customs at least 1 hour before everyone else. But I don't think I was "swabbed".
Reading all of this thread gives me the picture in my head of a guy at a bar asking one of the Poop Cops "So what do you do for a living?" Reply... I have a ****ty job! LOL!
Anyone ever swabbed or pat down entering Jamaica?
My wife got swabbed on Feb 5th.
These stories bring back bad memories of being pulled out of line departing Cali Colombia and taken for futher screening.Holes poked in luggage, everything searched twice and then being told I would be taken to a hospital for body x-ray.
Matt got swabbed at Atlanta coming home from Jamaica. They swabbed his hands, feet, shoes and almost everything in his carry-on bag. They took him aside and explained that our i-pod dock looked like a "b word". I thought they meant the female dog "b-word" and the lady laughed at me then she whispered "bomb". They were nice about it.

Swabbed = (as defined by Limo Mon) they took a white pad wiped me down and then put it under a microscope. Hope that helps.
3 o'clock, road block, and i had to throw away my little herb stock, oh why can't we roam this open country, I............rebel music
I got the full monty leaving MBJ in July of 2011. Private room, invasive search, intense interrogation. Which, since I teach 'verbal judo', was fookin hilarious. This was all due to the fact that JA security forces can't tell the difference in appearance between an ethnic Russian and an Arab terrorist. Or, maybe they can.....
Anyway, the security people were as rude as could be and did not like being verbally sparred with. Then, a hour later, the same fookin staff came and pulled me out of the boarding line and repeated the process. Tamminator almost got arrested for going off on security for the second search.
