T-Water Today

The front gate was open so I decided to check out T-Water. It is such a shame that an old favorite Hotel on the beach has been neglected for so long. I noticed that this year that the beach side was no longer boarded up but now has a number of "shops." heres what you see as you enter from the roadAttachment 23176

There does seem to be some squatters in evidence....probably slowing the decline. I am no engineer but it looks to me that the place will need to be torn down rather than rehabbed.

I was told that the squaters had water & electric and were renting out a couple rooms they had painted.lol I will say it wasn't so creepy walking by at night with the vendors there.

wow. Looks like it might have been a beautiful property back in its day. Do you have pics of it from then?

Was a great property back in the day.We always stayed there.Tizzy I heard $20-25 a night.I will say I like the vendors and jerk barrells out front brings some life & light to a dark place on the beach.Also was told they have art classes there and massages.Squaters trying to make a buck better than crackheads running in and out of there.

Very Saddening. Trekked along those paths many times in the 90's. Such memories, I was hoping the travel channel picked up that hotel to fix. Probably beyond repair.

Back in the day T-Water was my favorite place to stay. Stayed there for about 12 years late 70s and 80s. Still am friends with people who worked and stayed there.

Hey Yooper Bill, My husband and I were married there in 1987, before destination weddings were the thing to do. Would love to find Blossom Brown, a waitress from the restaurant or Mr Grant, the security guard, Michael, one of the the entertainment/sports directors, or Toupie that ran the little beach bar, just to name a few. Mrs Segre married us on the patio at sunset on Feb 28th, 1987....any help would be appreciated. We are 18 sleeps and counting, with our three kids in tow this March 9th!!!!!

Stayed there in the late 80's and early 90's also. Great memories of being at that beach bar . The bartenders always were so friendly and had great stories. Apple Vacations had a great price from Milwaukee with breakfast and lunch included. :)

You could always try talking to Paul (bartender at White Sands). I know he used to work at T-Water so he may have some information about the people you are looking for.

The place looks like it has been closed 50 years, must be the ocean air

Stayed at T Water on our first trip in 1990 ... and several times after that. We always walk by, stop and toast the place where our love for Negril began ... keep wishing someone will buy it and turn it into a beautiful place again ... lovely stretch of beach.

In the first photo above Lloyd and his grandaughter are seated at the then semi-remodeled T-Water, Lloyd was the telephone basket wire maker, he now moved to the family home in Lucie, has his own boat to fish with, only comes to the beach when he hears a old friend is in town.
In the second picture Carol, worked the bar as cashier and the gift shop, she married Benji the half Indian half Jamaican taxi driver, Carol passed away last summer diabetes, Benji and daughter Carol-ann are living in Conn. Usa
In the third photo is Tuppie (Lieonel), got the Tuppie nickname from eating butter tabs as a child, they were called tuppies of butter, Tuppie also dien last summer ,diabetes.
Mr Grant dead, Mikey Williams, entertainment, now a DJ on the radio, mother works at White Sands as bookkeeper,singer at Cathloic church on Sundays,

Attachment 23237and for all you White Sands fans you know Paul, he started out in the Ais, then T-Water and since White Sands.

Stayed next to the T-Water back in '84. It was a great place. Went over for drinks. But everything has changed on the beach since then. But it's still a party.

Thanks Lulu & Al brings back some nice memories of the place.My wife and I renewed our wedding vows on the beach.It was the first place I ever stayed in negril and always went back till they closed.

First Place I stayed in Negril in '89, I Remember "Spike" and his 50lb block of ice, and ice pick, pecking away until you needed a drink., he would get your drink and then back the block of ice. (chipped ice in drinks they taste better ;) )

Thank you for the update Lulu and Al.......brought a tear to my eye to hear of Mr Ralph Grant and Tuppie. Will have to go and have a dance on the sand under the moonlight for old times sake 26 years later :) Also will dig out some pics and post of the T Water in its heyday...

I get tears in my eyes when I see those pictures. What a shame! T-Water was such a great place, I spent the best time of my life there and was with 2 other coulples one of the last 6 guests there before the closed. They closed already but Mr. Williams opened it for us again, telling me, everything is ready so far. We believed it. When we arrived a big mess, like it looks on the pitures..........lol........I will never forget, how we stayed there with no electricity, water, food....but nevertheless, we had a wounderful time there!!!!
So if I would win the lottery, I would buy and rebuild it :)

I have to go to photos in a box to find pics of T-Water in its hayday. Before digital photography.....soon come

T-Water was my forst place to stayin Jamaica in 1984. What a magical trip it was. There were long stretches if undeveloped beach back then. As a design and construction professional, it's always painful to see any sound property abandoned and left to decay. I always wonder, "Whats the story with that one?"

These are from our stay there either in 1989 or 1990. Loved it there. breakfast and lunch were included with the room, and they always had a great dinner menu, and entertainment a few nights a week. The vendor pic was taken from the road, south of T-Water, just past Errols. back then there were vendors from Errols almost all the way Attachment 23572Attachment 23573Attachment 23574Attachment 23575to the bridge.

I believe a Hurricane was the start of the demise.....no $$ left to rebuild...so it sat....and sat.....

I think when the owners sold it,the other party ran it for a couple of years and didn't have a clue,let the property run down.
