How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
I know there were some concerns last fall with the power bills, securtiy and overall maintenance. Are things getting better or has there been further deterioration? I have been offered a fantastic deal for next winter and with the problems we have had finding an affordable 2 bedroom I'm tempted but hesitant. It also doesn't help that the last time I saw the place was a week or so after hurricane Sandy. That whole end of the beach was still working to cleanup and there were florida sinkhole size pits dug to accommodate the seaweed.

A friend of mine just got back from a month stay at the Condo's. She loved it and everything was good for her.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
I stayed at NBCC in Jan. for 18 days and was very happy.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
go with Jean at NBCC,,forget the rest of the Hotel,,,and you will be fine :)
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
I've heard that the main problem has been removed but not much else lately. That would be a top indicator that things are/will be improving at the property. Jean's rooms are on separate current from the hotel so even if there were "isssues", you would not be affected. I'd go w/ Jean any day (just replied to your other thread).
When the seaweed comes in you can expect holes to bury it to be dug anywhere & everywhere along the beach so that would not be specific to the Beach Club. You'll find that any number of places you might stay along the beach.
Me... can't wait for mid-June so I can be the one on the beach there. So tired of the up & down temps & wind here in FL.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
Yvonne, Thank you for replying. I knew you would know the scoop. Also thanks for replying to my other thread. My wife is on board to return to NBCC and we are visiting with her sister tonight. She's never been so i think she will trust our judgement. I've stayed may places on the beach and also on the cliffs but when on a budget like we are this trip you just can't beat the Beach Club. I will be anxious to hear your thought after your June trip.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
You're welcome. Quite honestly, I don't know what to believe from down there anymore since I got the info that the problem was removed from a reputable source. Nobody who works there can verify that so, who knows what the deal is? I haven't checked w/ Jean so guess I'll get the scoop when I'm there. Even if the issue isn't completely resolved, it is in the works but it has been for some time. It ticks me off to know that the $$$ I sent for my TS stay will not go for upkeep & keeping the staff working but into the coffers of a not so reputable person. Nothing I can do about it though. Sigh...
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
I passed by at the beginning of March and my general impression was very good! There were some improvements compared to last year: e. g. more beach chairs, seats at bar fixed up, etc. Staff I spoke to seemed optimistic that things are moving in the right direction. Would stay there again any moment (on Jean's side).
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
Well after all the looking around and help from the board we are going back to the beach club. Just booked a 2 bedroom for 10 days, first of February with Jean. Booked the airline with advantage miles and now need to find another distraction for 10 months. Next winter soon come!!
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
Rumlover... I may end up joining you in one of the NBCC rooms in Feb. 2014. American has now restricted use of their FF miles in the summer so much they are virtually unuseable. I could book anything I wanted before. Now... NO 60K business class in the summer & coach only offers a night flight to Miami w/ the connecting flight to MoBay the NEXT night. No thanks!
BTW... the new beach chairs - at least this is what I was told - are for NBCC guests only.

Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
Yvonne, The merger with US Air is going to make things difficult for the next year or so. That's why we wanted to book so early. We normally wait until May or even as late as August but I was watching all the options disappear within a week or two of becoming available. My flights were available starting yesterday and by the time I went online to book I had to pay double for "anytime miles" to get home. But I'm going to Jamaica and I'm happy!!

I love hearing there's new chairs, any details or pictures.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
Not sure if the limited - zero options now are due to the merger or the new pricing plan AA rolled out a couple of months ago. They now seem on par w/ what I've heard about other airline FF mile usage for years. Until now, I could book any flight, any day, any time. Now... forget it! I may have to look at getting a new/different cc for points I can really use for something. After NWA pulled their non-stop flight out of Tampa & I was pretty much stuck w/ AA (Delta through Atlanta always more expensive), I converted my left over NWA miles to Delta & deposited them w/ points.com. OMG... the only thing Delta allows you to use them for is - get ready - booking flights w/ Delta. So much for than plan - lol.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
I just saw a news piece on the Today show saying all airlines were upping the ante on miles needed for trips.
Re: How are the Beach Club and NBCC doing?
I've been spoiled by American all these years since I could - coach or first class - select from a large number of workable flights. To go to zero first class options & an unreasonable one crummy option for coach has been a real shocker. I checked flights to see my sister in NC & they've made that one pretty unattractive, too. One connection & middle of the night arrival. Yeah, right. I'll decide what to do when I don't have so much going on in my life.
